Midweek 3 day stay

We love the area and enjoy walks so a lumber site is ideal for us. We felt though that £30 per night (August) is overpriced and would not use it again in high season but possibly go again in the Spring. It is quiet, has large flat pitches and great dog walks. Also here are places of interest close by.

not a site if you only walk

we park our campervan for the duration of our stay and found we were isolated the Clumber park visitors centre was 10 miles away. The nearest place to eat out was an hotel 2 miles away but so badly signposted we could not find it. Not a place we would rush back to although wardens lovely and the site really clean.

Everything you need for a getaway

This was our first experience of a club site after trying a variety of private & club sites. Facilities are good. Toilets and showers clean and tidy. Wardens were polite, cheerful and helpful. Only downside was the lack of wifi but the plus to that was we found plenty of other things to occupy our time with. Will certainly visit again

Nice site

We stayed at this site for 3 nights. Both myself and my husband got bitten to pieces on the first night. No more bites after that as we covered ourselves in sprays etc. Its in a nice setting. Staff were friendly and toilet, shower etc were clean. Would visit again.

Leave early

We only stayed 1 of our 2 nights as I found it difficult to lift our bicycles into the storage shed as they were very full and I had to carry both bicycles to the back of the shed over the parked bicycles and the gap was quite small.

Going down hill

We have been going to Cumber park for many years now and find that the standard of the site is slowly going down hill. The cleanliness, grass cutting is not what it used to be or what I would expect for this site as it is one of the flagship sites. With 3 sets of warden on this site I would think more could be done. Also a accident is waiting to happen at this site with people riding bikes all over the place in all directions on the road way and at speed. Over all we did have a good week on site

Great family get together spoilt by rude warden

Stayed here for a weekend for a much needed get together with the family, only to be completely ruined by one of the wardens who was very rude and basically put an end to our night. We had a stove burning wood (was not on the ground) for around 3 hours until a warden approached our camp and was immediately obnoxious and very rude, demanding that we put out our fire and that she wasn't moving until we had done so as it clearly states in the "club rules" that open fires were not permitted. It was clear that we were in control of the fire (and had been all evening) and it wasn't causing excessive smoke or damage to the ground in any way. We were all so taken aback by her unnecessary bad attitude and immediately put out the fire. She then preceded to also complain about our noise. We were not making excessive noise other than chatting to each other outside around the fire and it was only around 10pm at this point. We understand that there are rules but we also understand manners and humanity and feel that she really didn't need to be so rude and abrupt straight away. It really did ruin our night and we won't be visiting this site again. We also feel that closing the toilets and showers at 10am is ridiculous. Why not clean them in the afternoon when guests are either out for the day or unlikely to take a shower at this time? It was a nice site with good facilities, and really enjoyed the fish and chips on the Friday night. However, please remember that people are on holiday, and in general, respond more positively to people who have manners and some respect for their customers.

Perfect relaxed weekend!

We visited clumber over a long weekend at the start of the school holidays. The site was fully booked so when we arrived a little early we expected to have to wait to get on to a pitch. We were pleasantly surprised that the wardens were ready and waiting to check us in and get us on site asap. The wardens were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. They work incredibly hard to maintian some of the best standards I have experienced since we began camping/caravaning 6 years ago. We used the shower at different times of the day and evening and never once had to queue or found them anything other than immaculate, impressive given they were fully booked. The facilities are well maintained and plentiful including privacy cubicles and toilets, the pot wash is inside and was always clean and tidy and bins were never fulll. The shop on site is more basic than some but there's a fish and chip that visits on Fridays and sainsburys is only 10 minutes down the road. The kids enjoyed the freedom of the site and safety it offers, riding their bikes, playing in the playground and making new friends. The park itself is just on your doorstep and so this added to the sense of space and ease of walking the dog and tiring the kids out. Come 10pm a vale of silence fell over the site and remained there until a very civilised time on each morning. People were friendly and pitches well spaced out so you never felt on top each other. Clumber is a beautiful place and its ease of access from well maintained roads makes it the perfect stop off or weekend getaway. We plan to return regularly to recharge our batteries, give the kids the freedom to run and play and enjoy the peace and quiet this site offers. We were sad to leave but have already booked our next stay.
