Great site for a quiet break

We regularly use this site for a relaxing weekend. It's only 30 minutes from our home but you could be anywhere. The site is well maintained and the facilities are clean. The play area is great for kids and a lock up is provided for bike storage. The only downside is the lack of mobile signal and wifi on site but on the other hand it stops the constant phone checking. If you want phone signal there is coverage in Hardwick Village a short walk from the site or at the Clumber Park visitor center. There are loads of walks from the site and you can hire bikes from the visitor center. A great site for a break from it all.

Not a site for us to revisit

Lovely location but you do need your own transport to get out and about. There are a lot of inconsiderate people on the site. They leave their dogs barking all evening, they speed around the site in their vehicles, their children race around on their bikes in the dark with no lights. Then there is the bike theft. Our neighbours had their scooter stolen. It is horrible to think that thieves are roaming around while you sleep. The lack of mobile phone signal and wifi pale into insignificanc in comparison with this.

Great for families and doglovers - but not always quiet

The setting is wonderful and ideal for walking dogs, cycling etc. Because it is so child- and dog-friendly there are LOTS of both around. Most are charming and well-behaved, but a few parents and dog-owners seem oblivious when children or dogs are acting up. We are dog owners ourselves but certainly would not let ours bark all evening as the large party camped directly across from us did. We would certainly go again but not at a weekend or in school holidays!

forest hideaway

This is a beautiful secluded site.  The news of recent thefts was worrying and we wondered whether we should leave our belongings outside.  We were fortunate that nothing was stolen. There were a lot of visitors to the site, many parking inconsiderately at the entrance making access difficult. However, these things aside, the feeling of the great outdoors in the heart of the forest was wonderful.  It is a very well maintained site and all the wardens were friendly and helpful. There is no mobile phone signal but we survived without them.  It allows for greater rest and relaxation.

Lock up your everything.

This park is in a lovely location although you will need your own transport if you want to do anything besides walking in Clumber Park. The amenities are typical Caravan Club standard which means it is pretty good. Unfortunately this site is let down by non existent security. Anyone can walk in to the site from the forest via numerous paths. We had our Honda 110 scooter stolen from this site. It had the steering lock on and was parked right next to our motorhome. During the night, someone walked in, picked it up and took it away. At 100Kg, we thought it was safe. We are 2000 pounds out of pocket. It appears that theft from this park is not just prevalent but downright rife. Anything not nailed down is subject to theft. Be warned! The staff were very sympathetic and helpful, but that is too late when the loss has already occurred.

Mixed review

The good things are the site being in Clumber park with all the walking very dog / family friendly Very clean site  The site itself is only peaceful out of school holiday and week days..weekends are very busy  A few dogs were off leads around their pitches ! Lots of people visiting friends on site ..all the allocated parking spaces taken and some parked on lane just outside site entrance which also made the site even more busy Wifi was very poor Shop had very low stock and wasn't being restocked till end of week.! Very poor considering how it used to be stocked with local produce!

? this place

We love clumber park. It is an excellent place to explore the woods with our dog. It's our go to campsite and we are there a few times a month. It's peaceful, the toilet/shower facilities are good. There is no phone signal but that suits us fine. Make sure you buy a booster aerial for the TV.  This is always our 1st choice of campsite if we are wanting a short trip from home. Miles of walking in the forest to explore ??

Excellent Site!

Used this site may times - very good setting, usual high standard of facilities, friendly, efficient Wardens, good pitches. The Clumber Park area is ideal for strolling or cycling, with the nearby visitor centre with café is easy to get to. The lack of a mobile phone signal in this day and age is a definite minus point. Whether we agree or not, this is a modern method of keeping in touch and being contactable in emergencies. The WiFi quality and reliability on-site leaves something to be desired, and needs attention, particularly given the charges levied by the provider. We would, however, strongly recommend this site, and will be returning again.

First ever caravan stay

Total caravan beginners, picked up our van and headed off to clumber which is only a few miles from home to try everything out. Lovely site and greeted by very friendly wardens. Very busy this weekend, but it was race for life and pretty muddy. Had a super time and very quiet, lots of children, but they were no trouble at all. On the way out the wardens on duty were awful, one was having an argument with a guest regarding the state of the showers being left in a state by the ladies running the pretty muddy, she was very condescending to the guest and the one that took my key from me just put out her hand and said nothing, though I thanked her for a lovely stay she just glared at me. I wont hesitate to go back however, they were probably just having a bad day.

Don't take anything of Value

Don't take anything of value to this site, as it gets stolen.  There are men prowling around at night and will take anything but especially bikes. They will enter your awning to take. This is every weekend and neither the site or the police seem bothered and treat it as a matter of fact.  The cctv around the site has not worked for 2 years and when I question the wardens they shrug their shoulders.  I have travelled all around the country and have never stayed anywhere where crime is the norm like it is at clumber park

Message from the Club:

We are disappointed to read the review posted regarding your stay at Clumber Park.

As it is an open site having easy access to the adjoining woodland there is full access to the local public, with this in mind, verbal advice is offered to members upon arrival, regarding security of property. In addition to this there are notices displayed around the site offering advice on security.

The Club also offers, free of charge a secure, alarmed bike lock which is also protected by a working CCTV recording system.

We do work closely with both the local police and the National Trust to limit the risk of this type of activity on site.
