Great location for walking

Have just spent 7 nights at Clumber park. Site is set in lovely woodland surroundings and is a great base for walking around the NT paths of Clumber park excellent for dog walks (beware of ticks) We were very dubious about coming to this site after reading very negative comments from other users, however we found the site of usual caravan club standard and the toilet blocks were to a satisfactory level not as bad as people are saying. We felt we could have been on two totally different site as during the week the site was extremely quite but the weekend was very busy, we didn't find this a problem as the children's play area was excellent so we didn't get kids riding round on bikes . There is no mobile phone signal on site but this didn't bother us it's nice to get away from everything. My only negative comment is on return we found out by other reviews that there had been bike thefts whilst we were staying and feel we should have been notified by the on site wardens (if only by a notice on the toilet block) so we could have been more vigilant . All in all a lovely site with lots of wildlife around, would definitely return.

You expect to be safe on a club site ?

We have stayed on many club sites over the last 40 years and have never left early because we did not feel safe. There have been break ins to the bike secure shed over the last two weekends and we were not even advised of this when we arrived. The Club must get this sorted out ASAP. The toilet blocks are now well past their sell by date and need a refit.

More bikes stolen

Nice location but the shower block was tired with mould in the showers. Park insists you use their bike storage facility as they suffer bike thefts, but this was also robbed when we were there. Not what I would expect from caravan club really. Would like to see some investment in the park please. A nice 10 mile walk around clumber park and lake was very nice. Would I go again? Yes but without bikes and using my own facilities.

Nice clean site

A really good site with plenty of areas of interest and walking. Well suited to families as a lot of children when we went, which doesn't bother us but just an observation for others. Staff helpful on arrival, site & facilities very well kept. Have booked again next month.

Up The Workers

We stayed on the site from 17-24 April 2016. Our near neighbours appeared to be a group of EU migrant workers with a large white van [complete with a set of ladders] sharing a small caravan. The men, whilst well behaved, disrupted the site as they left for work at 6.00 am each morning and returned late in the evening dressed in yellow vests and hard hats. When I complained to the warden, I got little sympathy, only to be informed that they said that they were working but also on holiday. Only four men were booked on site but at one stage there were seven men sharing the caravan, [with extra guests being brought in under cover of darkness]. The club rules clearly state that CC sites are for recreational purposes only but it would appear that this is another rule that is being waived. If the Club is continuing with this policy, then working contractors should be placed in a separate area away from families on holiday. We will certainly not be returning to this site in the future.

Not happy!

This was our 2nd visit to Clumber Park on 13th april for 4 nights, and on both visits I've thought that the reception wasn't very friendly!  We commented following our 1st stay about the key's to the shower blocks fitting both male and female blocks which I think is unsafe especially with children on-site. We were warned to use the secure bike store which was alarmed and with CCTV but bikes were stolen from this store whilst we were there! Luckily not ours! Thankfully we have good bike locks!  Another concern we have is the gates around the perimeter of the park which are supposed to be locked at night but on both of our visits the locks had clearly not been used. The thieves must know this and are taking advantage. Such a shame as this is a really lovely venue for dogwalking and biking which we love.

Lovely site

The approach to this site from the A614 must be one of the most spectacular in the UK. A stone arch and an arrow straight road flanked by a double avenue of trees made us feel like nobility! The site itself is beautiful and spacious. The only negative is the outdated facilities block - clean of course like all CC sites but definitely in urgent need of updating. Lots to do in the park itself if you like the outdoor life.

Heaven on Earth

Wonderful site. Beautiful walks you would have to stay forever to use all them all.Wonderful wildlife so good for children and adults alike. Tried the home made chicken pie from the reception freezer it was heavenly so good I returned to get another they had all gone! Have returned to this site time and time again and will never tire of its beauty and peace. Ok it could do with better wi fi and mobile phone coverage but for some that is a bonus. Thank you can't wait to return.

Big site.

Stopped for just a couple of nights. Wardens helpful. Let us stay until 1400 on last day. Site too big and busy to suit us. Obviously targeted by thieves. No phone, no sat, no internet. May suit many but not us. Facilities up to usual CC standard. Pitches a good size and possible to stay well away from play area!
