Another peaceful Christmas at Clumber Park. Even at this time of year there is plenty to keep you occupied. Plenty of walking and cycling on the quiet pathways (busier in summer I might add). A visit to the cafe at the visitor centre or at Hardwick village keeps you going with a hot drink and/or a snack (only closed Christmas Day). Then back to the site for a good Christmas dinner and a quiet night in. Great to see how many other people are out at Christmas and take the time and trouble to decorate their vans with decorations and lights. Everyone gets a great greeting from the staff and the facilities are excellent. Bike shed is provided for security and is a must to use. The addition of the dog/boot/cycle wash point was very welcome and very useful. We had visitors Christmas Eve who were also made to feel very welcome which is a big plus for us and a lot of others who like family around them for Christmas. Well done everyone and thank you.
I live in Sheffield and visit Clumber regularly to walk the dogs. Staying over Xmas seemed sensible as I would have walked there anyway. Not been to the club site before. It’s a great place for a relaxing peaceful stay. Loads of walking in Clumber or go to Sherwood or Thorsby for a change. Clean facilities and pitches are a good distance from each other. I had a pick of the pitches and chose to be near the gate out into the park.
Will definitely return for several midweek breaks.
Thanks to the wardens who worked over Christmas.
We have visited this site on several occasions and the standards are always very high, this time being no exception.
A very quiet and relaxing stay in between meeting friends and Christmas shopping at Meadowhall.
T.V. outlet worked well for Strictly!!!
The wardens were helpful and pleasant.
The only slight niggle was the facilities block seemed unheated for our first two days and a bit cool for a shower given that the nights were frosty.
Overall a very pleasant stay.
I have got to agree with the reviewer who criticises meadowlane 1970.The rules and facilities are very clear if you choose to read them.
We have been on sites previously when we have wondered if we experienced the same site as a reviewer and this seems to be another occasion.
.
Dear meadowlane 1970. What's wrong. Why choose a pitch with a dog bone when you had been given a choice of available pitches? Litter on this site is VERY unusual but why wait to the following moarning to complain ? Toilet cleaning times are ALWAYS displayed dont you read signs? Or your club book ? Tv outlet ? I cant think of any pitch that is not within reach. Maybe your lead is not as long as you think but why have you got a longer one ( at home)? Regarding forestry work in autumn. Yes it happens and you admit to knowing it does! Why not ask to move pitch or better still go tell forestry lads to stop? One other thing. In all the years I've been coming here I have NEVER come across a rude or otherwise staff member. I have however seen one or two bite their lips when members with an attitude have approached them . Leave them alone, they are doing a great, sometime thankless job. The site is brilliant. The location is fantastic and when folks are not continually moaning, it's very quiet.
This was our first time here, there are lots of walks around Clumber park and great for the dogs in the woods etc, the site was clean & very well laid out, we bought a long tv cable even tho we didn't need that length with the pitch we was on, my husband had read previously somewhere that some caravan club sites can be a distance away from the aerial point, at least we now have the long cable for next time, also the tv signal was great we managed to pick up a lot more channels than usual, the site staff were very helpful & friendly, they gave us a directions etc for some walks, they was also very helpful when we asked about wifi, the signal isn't very good, it's worth paying for the year for wifi, as we have realised there's a few sites with bad connection, we will defiantly be coming back to this site, such a lovely weekend, thanks & keep up the good work 😊
IÂ stayed here yesterday and must say the the site and staff are delightful.
The staff were very welcoming, proffessional and friendly aIthough it is huge and was relativley quiet at the time of my stay so there were plenty of spots to choose from. The pitch was clean not a dog bone in sight. Given that there are a 175 pitches it is extremley well kept I wouldn't expect the staff to be able to inspect every time a pitch is vacated. If I find an offending object on my spot, the bins are never far away.
I arrived early and they allowed me to book in at 11:30. The only downside is the lack of tv reception, I don't own a tv extension cable so I watched some DVDs instead.
The location is great for walks and bike rides and if you leave on foot or on your bike, if you are not a National Trust member then you save the £3.85 per adult on the entry fee.
All in all my visit here was representative of the usual high standard of the Club, I would have had to look hard to find anything to complain about.
Visited this site on way south and stayed for 3 nights. Apart from one of the shower blocks closed, although the one open was spotlessly clean and never full, this sit was Fantastic! Great for dogs! Just off site there is miles and miles of dog walks, perfect for us! Thank you! Expect this site is very busy during school holidays, so we would probably avoid these, we will DEFINITELY be back, fantastic!!
First stay here. Not a happy camper. Won't be returning.
1. Found a truly disgusting half-eaten butcher's dog bone and other litter on my pitch on arrival.
2. Could not park where I should have done, for fire safety reasons, and also make my very long TV aerial cable extension reach the van. Had to choose one or the other. Very unsettling because I knew I was too close to the neighbouring van. I did return to the office the following morning to discuss a possible pitch move but it was closed between 10 am and 12 noon for toilet block cleaning. I would have thought that this was the time when most visitors would need to call into the office before they go out for the day.
The site needs to advise of the length of TV aerial cable extension required before you arrive. Had I known I could have bought an even longer one.
3. Whilst I realize woodland has to be managed, especially in the autumn, I was very much disturbed by the almost constant noise of chainsaws during the day, which, on one day seemed to be right behind my van. I think this could have been foreseen and I could have been placed elsewhere.
4. Although I was given the choice of a few pitches I was also told, on arrival, that many people had not yet left when they should have done. It was 12.30 pm and leavers should have departed by 12 noon. Clearly, this cut down the number of pitches available to me, even though I had arrived, as per the rules, after the earliest time allowed.
5. Finally, but most importantly, it is of the utmost importance to me to feel valued as a customer by the site staff. I was treated on two occasions, by the same woman, as if I was a naughty school-child. Not impressed. There really was no need for that. There are ways of speaking politely to customers and this wasn't one of them.
I will be making a formal complaint to the CAMC.
Warm friendly welcome. Spacious tidy pitch. Facilities clean and warm. Wonderful site for long walks. As we live quite close it is great for us for short breaks. It is so quiet during the week (outside of school holidays!) that you could be anywhere in the country. Will definately use again.
We used Clumber Park to stop off on our way north and we liked it so much we are going to go back and stay for a little longer. Its worth staying more than one night here.
The site was easy to find from the A1 and very quiet. The wardens were in good humour and really friendly both on arrival and departure.
Although the site is in the forest its very open and light, the landscaping is really well done as I expected it to be dark and gloomy but in fact it is the opposite. At the time of staying (5th Nov) all the grass pitches were closed and it was hard standing only, I can imagine it gets very busy in peak times due to being able to ride bikes and walk into the park direct from the site but for us it was much quieter and really good to be able to stretch both human and canine legs and explore. Because we only stayed one night we didnt venture out of the park itself but there seems to be allot to explore round about.
Overall Clumber is a credit to the network and everything you expect from a Caravan Cub site!
