First visit - won't be the last!

We have just returned from a five night stay at Clumber Park - and an eventful one it was! Firstly a huge thank you to the warden who came to find us after a phone call from the vet in Worksop after taking our retriever there on our first night! Its worth bearing in mind those 'useful numbers' that you are given when checking in - they really are! Also worth bearing in mind that there is no mobile phone signal here - that's regardless of your network - and it goes for most of the National Trust area - so re educated myself with the payphone on site. My network allows wifi calls but it is also very poor on site as there is an issue with it (?) Anyway the site is in a brilliant location for exploring Clumber (or visiting the vet in Worksop!) - facilities as per the usual very high CAMC standards and even though it was the school holidays no queues in the two toilet blocks on site both of which are kept very clean. Site is a credit to the teams of wardens who keep it tidy - its also worth bearing in mind they have a free cycle lock up - you are advised to use it if you have cycles with you. Till the next time when we hope we will be able to explore more with a dog that's recovered!

On about traffic the wardens even checked the A1 for any road works for us as we left, that's what I call good service thanks guys Good Job.

Inconsiderate members

Please can members going to the top toilet block please walk round on the road and not cut through the trees to get there. It is so inconsiderate when people walk by so close to your van that you can hear them on the hard standing, our can the wardens turn any of the pitches 175 to 177 into a public pathway. Rant over. This is still a lovely site.

Great location, great staff, beware WiFi rip off.

The only negative comment I can make is beware the WiFi rip off. £2.50 a night for a download speed of 0.43mps. Dire, it may as well not be there. Otherwise, faultless site with hard working wardens.

ANOTHER GREAT WEEKEND

Once again, the wardens were welcoming. The wardens are very professional, and are very visible around the site. They were "on the ball" when a motorhome pitched, and then allowed two additional vehicles through the barrier! The Easter Egg hunt was very well organised, and much appreciated by our grand-daughter, as was the arrival of the Pizza van! A previous reviewer mentioned the lack of hot water, but this was only in ONE of the shower blocks on the Sunday morning. The second shower block was still in use and had hot water, and, although inconvenient, it isn't far to walk from any part of the site. To be fair to the wardens, they do not order the gas - we were told that it was automatically ordered - a bit like a smart meter. The tanker arrived within a couple of hours, and everything was back to normal in no time. We were surprised that the area was not coned off while the tanker dispensed the gas, but presumably it wasn't necessary? Waking up to snow on Monday morning was a bit of a shock, and the wardens were out again, checking that everything was OK. Well done wardens. Not many weeks until our next visit.

Easter Bank Holiday no gas so no hot water!!!

This was our first stay here. Great location. No information saying that there is zero phone signal I've internet so we paid for the new gold star internet!. It was rubbish so gave up with it. We arrived on the Saturday and the shower /toilet smelled of bad drains. The following morning we both went for a shower and ended up having a cold shower (warden came into the shower block to say there was a problem but didn't say they had run out of gas! Truck seen a while later. So for £31.40 plus paying for Wi-Fi for 2 people in a campervan all we got was a cold shower and useless wifi. It's not cheap to stay but would at least expect some value for money. On the plus note the site was quite and in any location. We have used the caravan club sites numerous times and have never felt the need to complain

First caravanning trip

We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff who assured us they were there to help us with anything should we need it as it was our first time on a caravan site. The shower and toilet block was pleasant and clean every time I went to use the facilities there. The walks around and about the site were very enjoyable. A pizza van visited during our stay that we took advantage of and enjoyed too.

Did the club not remember to check the gas for Easter

We love this site and visit regularly but this time we were let down. Easter Sunday morning and no hot water in the shower block. Signs went up saying gas pressure problems! Within the hour a gas delivery arrived at the block and within 30 minutes of the delivery there was hot water again. Come on club, be honest, just say you ran out of gas - don't treat us as stupid! Otherwise a good weekend considering the weather.

Above and Beyond........

Clumber is always a favourite of ours and the site is in a great location we usually visit at the beginning of the season and again towards the end of November. Imagine our disappointment when he who shall remain nameless had booked one day short for our intended stay, no problem we will just add an extra day on line as at the time of the year ithe site shouldn’t be full........ How wrong can you be the site was completely full, the reason been numerous pitches had to be left to dry out after the horrendous snow and subsequent heavy rain. Clearly the wardens had been up against it in trying to sort out the problems, so telephoning on a Friday night at the start of the week- end caravan arrivals was perhaps optimistic on our part to try and extend our booking, what sort of a response did we encounter a bright and cheery voice on the end of the phone who managed to convert a recent cancellation to an on line booking without us having to go on line and risk loosing the slot before it showed up on the system. During our stay although the wardens were still up against the aftermath of the weather nothing was to much trouble and all done with a friendly smile.....Now that’s what I call above and beyond service. Thank you

Generally a good site.

Although we have been club members for well in excess of 20 years, and live only 20 minutes away from this site, this was our first visit. We were there for 2 wet nights 12th-13th March 2018. Our first outing in our new van. The site was very peaceful and quite spacious. We did like the reduced fee for using the site mid week out of season. We know the area very well, there is lots to see and do in the area within a short drive. The only slight criticism we would make is that the toilet block (only 1 of the 2 blocks were in use when we visited) although very clean, did look a bit run down and due for renovation. However, we will certainly use the site again.
