We have been member or Caravan club for 11 years. Stayed lots of sites every year Clumber Park was our favourite until this year! They say they have Gold standard WiFi now but after paying £10 for my tablet & £10 granddaughters it was still hit and miss if we could log on and often very low signal. Also there were the leads to electric and TV hook up trailing for a long way to next pitch so children were tripping over them, we had to put small carpets and groundsheets over leads! Also having to pay to park car at lake or go near cafe was not good. As I'm partially disabled we cannot walk all that way so had to pay £3 each every day! No if we go Clumber again it will be on day trips. Its a beautiful place but Not staying again on site because there is nothing to do there if your elderly or disabled. Young and fit it's perfect for bike rides but there is nothing on site except for young children! Disappointed we had to pay an extra £3 each every day!
We keep trying - not sure for how much longer 😢
We have been to the site on quite a few occasions as it is close enough for us to have a weekend away in beautiful surroundings.
However nothing ever seems to improve in fact this time things were worse!
On arrival I noticed different wardens from the last time we visited - to be fair they were ok but nothing to shout Home about - not pleasent and pleased to see you - just run of the mill “can I have your membership card?” “That’ll be £70 please” “let us know where you’re parked “ end of chat !
We parked up following the correct club rules however noticed that 2 caravans opposite us were parked front end up to the peg? This confused us as in previous visits we have been requested to move our van due to not having the back corner directly on the peg?
We had our 2 small grandchildren with us this time and owing to the none existent phone signal I needed to log onto the new GOLD WiFi in order to let their parents know we had arrived safely !
What a joke I couldn’t even log on - this again is worse than last time - last time I could log on but it was VERY hit and miss ! I approached 2 wardens who laughed it off saying “try when the kids have gone to bed “ and “ there’s too many vans on this weekend” - absolutely shocking that in this day and age it is not possible to have some form of contact with the outside world - we are after all in Nottinghamshire not the Outer Hebrides!
Oh and following the brushing off of the concern of the WiFi the female warden went on to inform me that I needed to move my 1 year old grandsons trike from the pitch next to ours as people would be arriving on that pitch ! I’m not sure what she expected from us ? That we would prevent someone from pitching there by the use of a toddlers trike? Ridiculous - ooo and to boot no one came on either of the pitches at the side of us!
The site was busy (to be expected as it’s been hot and it’s the school holidays)
On the Sunday morning we woke to no electricity and no shower/toilet/washing facilities! We also woke to no information as to why? No wardens came to explain and no notices of apologies ! After all we had paid for these services and now couldn’t use them ! Owing to this the site became a mass exodus (along with ourselves!)
We have one more long weekend booked on the site - however this will be the last if things don’t improve !
Come on caravan and motorhome club get your act together - this is the first site that we’ve ever had problems on !
Do like to get in touch with family and friends, even when on holiday!
Very nice site in a lovely location. Staff were very friendly. Toilets were very modern and clean. We will not be going back again as there was no mobile phone access and no internet access. Don't need to know that holidays are supposed to be like this, it is 2018, It is nice to let your friends and family know that you have arrived safe and not have to bike 2 miles up the road as soon as you arrive!!
mixed review....
just returned from a lovely weekend, only a shame to be spoilt by a very rude set of wardens, if we have broken any of your rules [ we had made a dog pen around our awning ] and our dogs were loose inside , apparently they still need to be fastened up ! we assumed this was ok as the wardens have loose dogs in there enclosures.....please don't shout at us from a distance, in an aggressive manner so all around can here, please approach us and discuss it in a reasonable manner, our dogs were not rowdy, you hadn't received any complaints, this was totally inappropriate behaviour, we chose not to engage with the wardens but it did upset my wife greatly & cast a shadow over the weekend.
on the flip site of all this, the campsite was busy with families having a great weekend, the facilities were still up to the clubs high standards, & we will return.

Very relaxing weekend
We were here for the weekend and pitched next to the park. It was noisy at times but you expect that with kids around (one of mine likes making alot of noise!) The park went quiet at around 9.30-10pm and after that it was a very quiet site. The park was good for most ages, it says not for under 5's but there is a small area that is perfect for the younger kids.
The wardens were helpful and smiley every time we saw them. The facilities were always clean.
We enjoyed the site so much that we didn't go anywhere all weekend, the kids were either on the park or on their bikes.
We will be returning soon.
Lovely site and wonderful Wardens
I booked one night at Clumber and ended up with my motorhome breaking down in the check-in lane, so I spent the night there waiting for RAC to tow me away the next day. I was pretty much in the way for a full 24hrs and I can't say enough about the kindness of the Wardens. There is no mobile service at the Park at all (you can get service about half a mile up the road) and the Wardens let me use their office phone to communicate with the RAC. They even made me a cup of tea and offered to make me lunch - above and beyond.
About the site - this is the first time I'd been back to Clumber since I was a child. I have lots of fond memories playing in the woods here, and although there is a lot less of the forest than there was 20 years ago, it's still enough for some really fabulous walks and delightful peace and quiet. You can walk the outskirts of the site on a wooded path or branch further out for a longer walk along one of the adjacent trails. The site itself feels very open considering it is surrounded by trees - most pitches had sun by 8am. The site is clean and the toilet block was very clean when I used it. I actually had good success with the internet but perhaps that's because I was by the office - either way, it worked for me but my expectations were low because it's wifi in the woods. :)
I'll definitely be back.

Feel Sorry for Staff
Currently on this site and have witnessed the hard working staff keeping the site in super condition. Spotless facilities and clean tidy site as usual on Club sites.
However the members are not making their lives easy. The worst problem is the speed of drivers including those towing is well in excess of 5mp, easily upwards to 30mph. This added to the many children enjoying the freedom of the outdoors, many on bikes, is an accident waiting to happen. Members it is not the job of staff to police the speed but us as members.
Many groups of people having a lovely weekend away allow their children to entertain themselves out of sight, surely 10.00pm is a reasonable time to bring them back to their pitch, chasing in and out of shower blocks and cubicles is not acceptable at any time of day.
The club sites are there for us all to enjoy 7 days a week. Surely it is not too much to ask that we respect everyone’s peace and quiet.
Mixed feelings
Mixed feels this time. The location is fabulous, easy access from A1 & M1, beautiful location in the heart of the Clumber Park woodland. Wonderful dog walking opportunities. We are regulars at Clumber Park, usually in the winter though. We found the new ‘summer’ wardens not to the same standard as the winter wardens. On arrival we went to check in and my bank card was declined. Tried it again and declined. Tried a couple of other cards, all declined. Tried my partners cards, all declined. Knowing there was large sums of money in all the accounts, we knew it wasnt our cards, however staff were adamant it wasnt their machine. We had just enough cash to pay so continued to our pitch. I immediately rang the bank and was informed that our cards were not blocked, and there was the funds available as expected. When telling reception which pitch we were on, i told the staff what the bank had said, purely incase anyone else had issues - but was completely dismissed by the older warden, it wasnt there machines, it was my cards, and if i didnt have enough money in the bank, it wasnt his problem. How rude! After setting up, we went into Worksop to withdraw some cash, and on returning to the site received a breaking news alert that visa were having technical issues and not processing payments Europe-wide. On passing recoeption i informed the staff of this, as this would obviously affect other people checking in. No thank you, no apology.
Lots of bags of rubbish around the site at the bin areas, sat for a long time before been collected.
We dont use the toilet blocks so cant comment.
The WiFi was patchy on this visit, despite the upgrade. Previous visits since the upgrade have been ok.
I’m not sure we will return until the winter to be honest.
Lack of consistency with food options and still poor internet
Clumber is one of those places you need to think well ahead in regards to food.
We have been fortunate recently during two visits to a most excellent pizza van visiting both Wednesdays and Saturdays who do a mean Vegan Pizza.
So - off we trotted for a quick night away only to find said van not going that evening.
We waited outside reception wondering what to do as this was our only plan and said - let's look at the internet.... and, despite the Club mag saying internet had vastly been improved on the site - there was none to be had and thus, we had to take an hour and a half trip to Sainsbury's in Worksop to get some provisions.
The Club should make it clear on the site info when booking a site where food vans are invited in, and therefore one becomes accustomed to this fact, that there would not be one on specific days.
Mixed feelings
When we first arrived at this site we loved the location of where it was for going off walking or cycling but that is the only thing that we enjoyed. The first day on a very hot day they had water issues and nobody could fill up or use the toilet blocks and talking of toilet blocks they could do with a really good clean and a little TLC is needed in them. Yes the wardens do tell you to lock up your bikes on a night time as thieves operate in this area as we found out on our second night and somebody stole a child's bike out of the awning of a caravan a few pitches away from us!! To top it all off our last night 3 new arrivals that had arrived that day ended up having a full on fight in front of the children's play park which is totally disgusting. The wardens dealt with the situation well by getting the police involved but it is not what i want my children to be seeing when away on our caravan holiday. Such a shame as its not cheap to stay here either.
