HALLOWEEN WEEKEND BREAK

Have visited this site many times and always popular with families. Very busy during our visit the only downside was the number of children using the toilets and laundry room as a play area. Felt sorry for the wardens were left to clear the mess up. but we will be happy to visit again.

Very friendly and helpful wardens!!

We stayed at this site for two separate weeks recently due to my husbands work commitments...easy access for me to take him to work and then I had transport for the rest of the day !!!! However as there are lots of walks to do from the site and a lovely cafe at the visitor centre down the road transport is not a requfor each day..... Wardens at all times were friendly and helpful and engaged in regular conversations with me. However..........we chose this site not only for the closeness to my husbands work BUT ALSO for the WiFi accessibility....advertised but the caravan club as SILVER!!!! Definitely NOT SO!!!! WiFi was a must for us both for work and family reasons .....on or first visit after discussing our issue with the wardens there was nothing else they could do t help us....we contacted the caravan club who informed us that it was the problem of air angel and not them ...air angel asked us to contact them by telephone whilst in our caravan to check our issues!!!!! No one seemed to understand that there is also no mobile teleph9ne connection anywhere near the site !! All our calls had to be made when leaving the site and driving quite a few miles away !!! Ok enough now ....we recently paid the full amount for 1 years connection as we use the club sites on a regular basis .so far we havnt been given the service re would like!!!!..We now have another two weeks planned for a return to this site...let’s hope it’s better next time!!!,

Not as good as it used to be

In need of updates now unfortunately, seems the infrastructure cannot cope with busy periods such as this weekend.power outages saturday afternoon and evening due to the volume of people hammering the electrics.shower blocks unusable due to the above and when they were open seemed to be populated with children playing games and generally running riot with no parents to be seen !.the wardens do their best but when members cant be bothered to mop up and keep the place clean for the next user, what chance have they got ? Usual issues of speeding on site, ignoring the one way system and groups of people wandering over pitch between car and caravan.as i say,”things aint what they used to be” Seems to be an issue with people parking on the access road to the site as well.left at 11.30sunday only to meet a caravan coming on to the site and due to cars parked both sides of access road passing was impossible.either change the arrival time to 1pm and enforce the 12 noon departure or double yellow the access road to prevent parking there. Many of the issues arent down to the site to be fair, its a minority of members or guests of members that seem to be an issue. Shame really as it used to be a cracking site, ideal for woodland walks or cycling but not good value anymore with more cons than pros. One tip, go out of site turn right then right on to limetree avenue and within quarter of a mile you get phone and 3g coverage..on02 anyway

A great find

We loved our stay at Clumber. A superb location with easy access to the forest for many walks and bike rides. The toilet / shower block is looking a bit dated which is a shame but the site staff seemed to be working tirelessly to repair plots damaged by the summer drought. Phone reception is non existent but wifi seemed to work ok. We will be back.

Perfect for an autumn weekend

This is our 'local' Club site and so we try to visit at least once a year. This time we've just had a weekend. As usual it was full, so we were glad we'd booked well in advance. Despite this, we found the site and the toilet facilities clean and tidy. This must be one of the busiest sites in the network and the wardens work hard to keep it looking good. The site is great for dog walking, bike riding or just walking in the woods. Clumber Park with its visitor attractions is about 45 minutes gentle walk. There is a bike storage shed as there have been bike thefts in the past. There is also a bike and dog wash! There is a chip van on Fridays and a Pizza van on Saturdays if you don't fancy cooking. The playpark can get a bit noisy so if you don't like that it might be worth pitching away from it. Also there isn't a mobile phone signal on site which I think is brilliant because it means you're not tied to your device but some people (judging by the comments in the visitor book) get really stressed about.

Overnighter

Stopped here on route to Berwick for one night. What a lovely site, ideal if you want to walk or cycle. Staff and facilities excellent as usual. If you want to spend time on the phone or on wi-fi this is not the site for you as no signal, but then if that's all you want to do I can't see why you leave the house. We will certainly be back for a longer stay.

Wonderful site

I really feel that I must have stayed on a different site to some of the moaners who have written reviews. Individual complaints about noisy neighbors or inconsiderate behaviour is no reflection on the site. Tell someone to clear off or shut up if you are being inconvenienced but don’t blame the site. Too many dogs, too many kids, toilets and showers and old fashioned I get fed up hearing this. We are supposed to be campers remember? Suggest you sell your caravan or motor home and stay in hotels and then you can moan and write bad reviews on trip advisor. It is a fantastic site with great amenities friendly and helpful staff.

Not for us

Only a one stay night stopover but one night too many. Not up to what we would expect of a club site, No respect for privacy of pitch area (people walking through), loose dogs, noisy and unaccompanied young children. Fulfilled its purpose as a staging post but would not want to have stayed any longer. And as for the Club Wifi, yet another waste of money. We were warned it was very slow (which appears to be a regulated staff response wherever you are) but it was non existent. In Clumber's defence, we are currently on a site where the wifi has been out of commission for 3 days and guess what the response was to us querying it? The Club promotes this wifi and it is simply not fit for purpose. Save your money if you haven't already wasted it like we have.

Disappointing stay!

Although this time our stay was a one night stop over, this will be the last! The site itself is lovely, but what totally spoils it is the total lack of consideration for fellow caravanners! Firstly its the people who clearly find it impossible to adhere to the 5mph speed limit. The people who allow their kids to run riot around the site without a care. The people who have no site etiquette and find it reasonable to cut across a pitch which i have paid for for the night, effectively should i have put my awning up, would have walked right through the middle! I had to tether my dog outside my caravan to prevent it happening again! The people who think its fun to have loud intrusive music, the people who leave caravan alarms going and finally those who leave their dogs to bark! We are not fuddy duddies, just people who consider fellow caravanners. The site is open to non members and it truly shows. If any member prefers the commercial ambiance of a site, than this is the site for you!
