We were afforded a very warm welcome at Clumber over the Christmas period. The site was up to the usual standard and provided a wonderful venue for our family a Christmas.
Lovely and peaceful - would definitely recommend
Stayed here for just one night on 16th November 2019 simply to try out our new touring caravan and we loved it. Good facilities, good sized pitches, easy to get to and well-kept overall - we had no complaints whatsoever. Surrounded by woodland and lovely walks, even the persistent rain over the weekend didn't bother us - we will definitely go back in Spring 2020. There is definitely no mobile phone signal so please be aware of this if you want to stay in touch with anyone!

A bit of a contrast
Stayed here for a couple of nights immediately after a period of heavy rain, with attendant localised flooding. We’ve stayed here a few times, some years back, so knew what there was to see and do. There were only hardstandings on offer in view of the weather, but even so we had difficulty finding a pitch that hadn’t got some degree of standing water. The one toilet block in use was showing it’s age. Some heavy refurb is overdue here, presumably the other one is the same? To be honest, it was all a bit of a contrast with the previous site we’d stayed at on the same trip, no names, but it’s not very far away from here…. Having said that, the wardens do a great job, they can’t help with the weather.
Bit disappointing to be honest
Depends what you want we guess but...….
It's great for peace and quiet but certainly wouldn't want to be there when it's busy. Could only give 1 * for family friendliness as not applicable for us. As you are close to a busyish B class road there will no doubt be a lot of bike activity on site.
The location is nice but it is a REALLY good walk down to Clumber Park Visitor attractions.....we walked very fast so it must have been well over 2 miles each way. However the whole place is very worthwhile , just depends on what your expectations are. Maybe CAMC should put an indicator of distance in their description?
Unfortunately the weather was not good during our stay but staff tried their best to manage torrential rain.....giving us an offer to move pitch when we became marooned!! We were on the point of leaving anyway but that was departure day and no other reason.
The facilities are adequate and that is all that can be said. They are kept clean but really the whole block ( only 1 open as winter timetable ) needs massive refurbishment.
However despite the weather we enjoyed our 3 night break ( good value for money midweek ) and it was convenient for home.
Very nice site
We recently spent 3 Very enjoyable nights at the Clumber Park Site which we enjoyed. However, the facilities were disappointing , the gents toilets, showers, etc. Though adequate are in need of updating. Of greater concern was the lack of any heating in the disabled facilities which made life uncomfortable for my wife who is suffering with terminal cancer. We do hope that this is resolved as a matter of urgency.
Scotland Tour October 2019
We stayed here in our 6m Motorhome on a hardstanding pitch on the way up to Scotland just off the A1. Wardens were really helpful as we had a pup tent which we could pitch next to the van. On the way back however despite booking the same it was Halloween week and the site was full. On arrival which was about 2pm there were no hardstanding pitches left and we were told that we had to have grass. The grass was wet and soft and after trying to park we decided it was not worth the risk as the van was likely to sink in the mud. Did get our money back but was told that they do not take bookings for hardstanding ...it seems first come first served....must have been luck first two visits.
Thank you
Would like to say a massive thanks to Pat and Eric for the excellent work they do, also all the other staff who work tirelessly to keep the site clean and tidy.
Close to perfect site with brilliant wardens
I've stayed at Clumber many times, usually as a one night stopover. It is a few years since I stayed longer, but I stayed three nights recently to enable me to race Outlaw X (70 miles triathlon) at Thoresby Park on 22 September.
Arriving early afternoon on a Friday is a very busy time to arrive. But the wardens were welcoming, friendly and efficient.
The site itself is lovely in every way. It's a large area and is a credit to the wardens.
The atmosphere on site - like most - does vary between when the site is full and when the site is quiet. I prefer the site to be quiet but this comment shouldn't prevent anyone from staying when it's busy. It's still lovely.
I run (among other activities) and the site is perfect for running offroad throughout Clumber Park. For a shorter run I recommend the Clumber parkrun held every Saturday morning throughout the year. It is only maybe one mile to jog to the start from the campsite. (Nice warm-up and cool down after the parkrun.) The parkrun is friendly and welcoming (like all are) on a lovely route within Clumber Park.
I'll leave others to recommend places to visit. Except to say my event was held at Thoresby Park, which is less than 10 mins drive from the site. Thoresby Hall is an hotel but much of the extensive parkland grounds is open to the public, with refreshments available, and there is plenty of free parking. Including plenty of space for motorhomes.
Great woodland setting
The Clumber Park club site is ideally situated for woodland walks and the nearby National Trust Visitors Centre. This is only our third caravan outing and we were impressed by the helpfulness of all of the staff. We were unable to access electricity from the hook up point and a staff member performed a lengthy, and thorough, investigation before finding an intermittent fault on our 25m cable. The purchase of a replacement from the shop resolved the situation and saved the weekend! We will certainly be back again soon.
A nice site
This site is everything we have come to expect from a club site, for us it is convenient as a stop over when we venture north or west from Norwich, anywhere from Norwich is a journey and we do find we need to make more stops than we used to , it's an age thing!!!!
The site is always kept in good order and the staff are always welcoming.
The drive down the Lime Tree Avenue is always a joy and one is a peace even before you get to Reception.
Well done
