Close to perfect site with brilliant wardens

I've stayed at Clumber many times, usually as a one night stopover. It is a few years since I stayed longer, but I stayed three nights recently to enable me to race Outlaw X (70 miles triathlon) at Thoresby Park on 22 September. Arriving early afternoon on a Friday is a very busy time to arrive. But the wardens were welcoming, friendly and efficient. The site itself is lovely in every way. It's a large area and is a credit to the wardens. The atmosphere on site - like most - does vary between when the site is full and when the site is quiet. I prefer the site to be quiet but this comment shouldn't prevent anyone from staying when it's busy. It's still lovely. I run (among other activities) and the site is perfect for running offroad throughout Clumber Park. For a shorter run I recommend the Clumber parkrun held every Saturday morning throughout the year. It is only maybe one mile to jog to the start from the campsite. (Nice warm-up and cool down after the parkrun.) The parkrun is friendly and welcoming (like all are) on a lovely route within Clumber Park. I'll leave others to recommend places to visit. Except to say my event was held at Thoresby Park, which is less than 10 mins drive from the site. Thoresby Hall is an hotel but much of the extensive parkland grounds is open to the public, with refreshments available, and there is plenty of free parking. Including plenty of space for motorhomes.

Great woodland setting

The Clumber Park club site is ideally situated for woodland walks and the nearby National Trust Visitors Centre. This is only our third caravan outing and we were impressed by the helpfulness of all of the staff. We were unable to access electricity from the hook up point and a staff member performed a lengthy, and thorough, investigation before finding an intermittent fault on our 25m cable. The purchase of a replacement from the shop resolved the situation and saved the weekend! We will certainly be back again soon.

A nice site

This site is everything we have come to expect from a club site, for us it is convenient as a stop over when we venture north or west from Norwich, anywhere from Norwich is a journey and we do find we need to make more stops than we used to , it's an age thing!!!! The site is always kept in good order and the staff are always welcoming. The drive down the Lime Tree Avenue is always a joy and one is a peace even before you get to Reception. Well done

Good for the food festival

Stayed here for the festival of food and drink 2019. Booked 3 nights but stayed for 2. We were under the impression the the food festival was just a short walk from the site however it took us one hour to walk to the show so not as close as we were led to believe. The site was fine and as all club sites shower block facilities were spotless. Being situated in the clumber park please be aware the is NO PHONE SIGNAL. This was a little disappointing as I needed to keep contact with home and so had to do this via WiFi and messaging. Due to a problem with our Moho we left a day early and can’t see that we will return to this site again. For us there’s not enough going on within a walking distance.

Great times to be had at Clumber Park

We have just had another great family weekend at Clumber Park Caravan and Motorhome site. My wife and I have stopped at this site five times this year, twice on our own, twice with grandchildren only and last weekend stayed as a family with five grandchildren and four other adults in caravans and a Motorhome. The kids settled in immediately and took advantage of the play area and organised trails created by the helpful friendly staff on site. The safe environment enabled the parents and grandparents to relax a little, but still keep an eye on the kids at all times. Set in a peaceful, immaculately well kept, wooded area the site offers pitches both for people seeking quiet spots and pitches near to the kids play areas for parents keen to allow their kids to have loads of fun and make new friends. The wardens were always out and about on the site offering friendly help and advice wherever it was needed. We took bikes with us and cycled down to the main clumber park area and the lake, which is a great attraction and close to the site. We used the provided cycle sheds at night to conveniently store away our bikes. A mobile fish and chip shop on the Friday night and a pizza van on the Saturday night were available on the site and many campers took advantage of these facilities! We will be returning to Clumber for more fun, and peaceful times in the future! đź‘Ť

A Family Friendly Site.

This site is ideal for us as a stopover when we travel west or north from our home in Norwich it is easy to get to and always very pleasant. The site is always kept to a high standard by the wardens.Thank you Our last trip was to Northumberland so we stayed both on the way up and on the way back it breaks the journey up nicely.

A site with two faces

A very good site with excellent wardens who seemed to be constantly working to keep the place up to CMHC standards. We experienced the site over an extended bank holiday weekend and it’s was a site with two faces. Over the weekend it was lively, vibrant and noisy during the day, but the wardens ensured it was quiet by 9pm and challenged those making excessive noise, which I applaud. Before and after the weekend it was a quiet peaceful retreat set in beautiful woodland with plenty to keep both old and young alike occupied. Bring a bike, a pair of boots and sense of adventure and you could spend a week here and not walk the same path twice without going more than a couple of miles from your van.

Another enjoyable visit

Stayed with my wife and grandchildren over the August Bank Holiday. As someone who loves Clumber Park and bike trails its and added bonus when we stay there with the caravan. Needless to say it was full and not many pitches to choose from upon arrival late Friday afternoon. The mobile fish and chip shop was useful on the Friday as we were still pitching up. Glorious weather throughout the holiday which always make the stay more enjoyable. The upper toilet looks tired and well used and needs an upgrade. I noticed some of the wooden window frames were etched with names of less than considerate individuals. The front door had a bodge up repair. It's a dark wooden door but the repair included a large amount of white filler making it look a 'bodged' job. Having stayed at sites with fantastic toilet faciilities its bit of a shock seeing one not off the same standard. The bike sheds (two) were full so on Friday evening we were unable to lock up 3 bikes which was disappointing. Having being a victim of a bike theft on a previous visit it was a concern not being able to use it. I undertsand it was a busy time but several people were in the same predicament and had to come away with the bikes. I would strongly suggest additional storage is made available for the bikes as bike theft is an ongoing problem. Other than that a very enjoyable stay with enjoyable bike rides with the grandkids, a visit to Hardwick Hall, Rufford Park and the holiday was over far too soon. We will visit again.

Regular visitors, always a brilliant time

We have been coming here over the last 3 years, every few months or so and are booked in nearly once a month for the next few months! We have never had a problem with noise or the wardens or the ongoing improvements. Yes the wardens are moving stones on a little tractor now and again to upgrade a couple of pitches but they do this for a very brief amount of time on the odd occassion. Yes there are children on this site which perhaphs make a bit of noise, but if you dont want to be around children, feel free to go to an adult only site. Be warned a previous negative reviewer has written 2 unhelpful reviews but just done so twice! We have a 5, 4 and 2 year old and they love the animal or number trails that are put on around site for the tourer explorer. They love the tarmac for cycling, both ours have learnt to ride their bikes here and the 3rd is just starting! The scenery is lovely, the dog walk off site (literally at several gates around site) is amazing and the wardens have always been pleasant and helpful towards us. The pizza van on a Saturday night is ace. I wouldnt class this as a "quiet" site but it is very family orientated so it depends what you are looking for. We find it relaxing (as much as you can with 3 kids!) and peaceful and a way of switching off from everything as there is no phone signal, we dont pay for wifi and we only have a TV for the boys to watch a bit in between racing around doing things outside. There is plenty to do off site too. It might not suit all tastes but we love coming here and will continue to do so!

Friendly Site

This is my 4th or 5th stay at Clumber, was surprised with it being summer holidays how many empty pitches were available. It’s normally a favourite with families. Yes, there was plenty of children being just that, playing football etc at the on-site park. There are also lots of pitches available whereby you can be out of earshot of the park. Theft is becoming quite a problem and I suggest that may be having a bearing on the numbers. Wardens are always super friendly. There was an incident on site resulting in police attending, this was due to some bullying taking place. The facilities are clean and tidy but as with all camp sites, some campers spoil the amenities which is a shame. I love Clumber for the dog walking that is available on your door step, I am going back at New Year. Don’t be put off by the negative remarks, not all sites are suitable for all. Give it a try and see past the boundary of the club site and what’s further afield. Go for a walk to the visitor centre, walk into the woods and follow the trails.
