A Good base for visiting families

We use this site as a base to visit our family. It is convenient to get to from our home in Leeds. The facilities are superb. The only problem we experience is that most of the hard standing pitches are very narrow and not really long enough to accommodate our caravan, awning and car. My major complaint is the state of the approach road which during the time we were there was very busy with children being taken to the cricket club and also building work at Cirencester College. On several occasions our car dropped into very deep pot holes as it was impossible to avoid them. Otherwise a very pleasant site to stay at.

Enjoyable stay

This was our second visit to this site and we enjoyed our stay. We enjoyed our walk through the park into Cirencester town centre past the cricket field and tennis courts. Clean, modern toilets and a large site with plenty of trees. We also enjoyed visiting Chedworth Roman Villa which was only about 10 miles away.

Our Local

Have stayed here a number of times. Near enough to our Daughters to enable us to commute and carry on with our grandchildren minding duties, and have them for a sleepover. Nice gentle stroll into Cirencester via the cricket pitch (a few benches at the boundary edge if you want to watch a few overs). Very pleasent Abbey gardens and individual shops in Cirencester. Large site but the layout makes some parts feel like separate smaller sections. Most pitches are narrow and if you have an awning the car needs to be parked in front of the van which isnt ideal. Some pitches have quite a front to back slope so blocks needed for legs. Wardens very friendly and helpful. Small playground for the children but our grandchildren (4 and 2) particularly liked the "maze" in the long grass in the field - a simple but very popular idea.

One of our favourite sites

Apart from the entrance road which is shocking, although not under the control of the CC, this is one of the best large sites we have visited. The expanses of grass, whilst presenting the wardens with a cutting challenge, make the site feel very open. We cannot understand why it is so under-utilised. Great for walking from the site with both short and long walks available in Cirencester Park. Although if you have a dog, walks are limited in the park itself. If you like going further, an 8 mile circular walk pulls in the Tunnel Inn, which serves great food and real ales. Or you can bus it to Kemble and walk back past the source of the Thames, again deviating to the Tunnel for lunch. There are lots of places a short drive or bus journey away, such as Bibury with it's trout farm, two for one offer with CC card / voucher. The bus is certainly to be recommended here, as in peak season it is very difficult to park in Bibury. All in all a great site, one we have visited many times in the past and hope to do so in the future. One last thing, as others have stated the wood fired pizza on Thursay is not to be missed, well worth the money.

Great site

Apart from the noise from the building site as mentioned on the website. The onl problem we had was the members not adhering to the 5mph and the directional arrows. Having 2 grandchildren with us using scooters made us and them very aware of the traffic problems. Apart from that the wardens and facilities were excellent,

GREAT SITE

We have been to this site 3 times now and can honestly say it is one of our favorites. It is a very well laid out site with excellent ammenaties. Great wardens, the grounds are kept very well. Lovely walk into cirencester. The entrance to the site is a bit rough on the caravan and car but apart from that when you actually arrive it's a haven. Lovely pizzas on a Thursday evening that are cooked fresh, and fish and chips on a Saturday evening very handy if you are feeling in need of a break from the BBQ and cooking. We highly recommend this site for families and couples alike, also dogs. We didn't see any mess like someone mentioned. Very enjoyable stay and will be returning again and again.

Excellent base for the Cotswolds

A very clean site, the lack of serviced pitches is a flaw and one I would like seeing addressed. The electric hook ups in the bushes down slopes are not ideal and you need a pretty long TV Ariel wire to 9m to access some hookups. Showers and facilities well maintained, wardens very helpful. Great base for the Cotswolds and further afield Oxford included so I was very happy with the he stay overall.

Overrun with dogs

Visited last weekend and found site completly overun with dogs. Some members had brought three dogs along. Hygiene issues with dogs peeing on pitches and owners not clearing dog poo up properly Barking dogs spoilt the visit The club should restrict number of dogs to be allowed on sites Would not recommend for families due to hygiene issues Its ashame as this site is in a lovely setting - pity its become a dog toilet

Kids

Arrived Tuesday lunchtime for a two night stay at this site in our motorhome. Nearly left again when children played around our unit, in the bushes and over the electric cable. We asked wardens if we could move, but they said the chilbdren should not be playing there, and after a word from the wardens the children left and we had no further bother. There is plenty of playing areas for children. We are not against children, but my wife had just finished six gruelling months of chemo and we wanted some quiet time. Thanks once again to the wardens for running an excellent site.
