Autumn break

A fourth return visit to this very accessible site and didn't disappoint as usual. Wardens very friendly and welcoming, toilets and amenities spotless, site tidy as well as can be expected during leaf fall and the Fish and Chips, available Tuesdays and Fridays are delicious and good value for money. Access on foot to the town is via the footpath adjacent to the ring road (very noisy) or through the park.....can be muddy in sections, especially the shortcut to avoid the Tennis Club. Nevertheless, Cirencester is well worth a visit whatever route you choose with a variety of shops and cafés. We would recommend Keith's for good service and shopping for coffee, jams and pickles....oh forgot, also chocolate! Half the site that uses only grass pitches was closed for the winter but there are still loads of hardstanding pitches to choose from, some in the open and a few close to trees. The access road is still with potholes but hopefully once the 6th Form College adjacent to the site is fully up and running, the access road will be improved. This is one of the problems associated with a road of shared ownership but I was assured that the CC has made every effort to improve it. Fingers crossed for 2016! One minor gripe and that is the size of a lot of the hardstanding pitches.....these could be widened to accommodate both caravan, car and awning and thus negate cars having to park across the end of the 'van when an awning is used. There is plenty of space to achieve this. Lets wait and see what the CC propose by way of improvements on this site for the immediate future.

Winter Stay

We stayed for 7 nights and enjoyed the site next to parkland and just a short walk away from Cirencester. The wardens were really helpful and always had a smile. The dog walk is large and there are plenty of 'poo bins' around the site. Very well maintained site; the access road was OK as long as you drive slowly.

Great site

A short walk from the town, surrounded by parkland, well maintained, lovely wardens what more could you ask for.

Lovely November stay

We stayed Monday to Friday, in mid November. The wardens were welcoming and friendly. This is a lovely, under-rated site. It is perfectly placed to explore all the Cotswolds, or just for strolling into Cirencester through the pleasant park. While we were there, we had 2 days of lovely weather and 2 days of rain and very high winds. However, all was fine. There were some big puddles on the pot-holed approach road, but nothing serious. The shower block was spotlessly clean and nice and warm. Wifi is a little slow, even with few people staying, but it has improved greatly from our last stay in 2014. We just can't stay away from this site!

A lovely site

Mark and I stayed at Cirencester Park on 13th & 14th November 2015. It is a lovely, well maintained site. The toilets were extremely clean, warm and user friendly. We enjoyed our two nights very much.

Good as always.

Arrived on the Friday 6th November, and were very lucky to get set up before the rain arrived. We have now been to this site about 10 times and it never disappoints. The wardens are always very friendly on arrival and helpful if you require anything. The toilet / showers are always spotless and warm. As mentioned in over reviews the access road is not the best but this is not the fault of the caravan club. It can get a bit busy at this time of year but this maybe to do with the fact that there are not many club sites still open and you still have the hardy caravanners. (well the ones with the heating). But if you arrive earlier in the day you have the time to have a bit of a look round to find a pitch. Will be back before Christmas.

Its an ok site but not outstanding

We visited for 4 days and it was very rainy for all of our stay. Access road ( not in club control ) uneven and full of puddles , very near to the site entrance water accross the full width of the (single lane ) roadway. Site immediately adjacent to a college and can get busy with pedestrians (again not in club control).

Wardens very helpful :-) Toilets cleaned at ~2.00 pm FANTASTIC. Why dont more sites do this . Site was hardstanding only (as winter) and in places looked like a car park. Convenient to Cirencester.Nice to be able to walk in adjacent park. Would we go back? most likely not we prefer more space and a bit more remote/in countryside..

30 years on and still our favourite

I first came across the site whilst looking for an overnight stay in the 1980s. My wife (Fiancé, in those days!) and I really enjoyed our short stay and have been returning at least 3 times a year, for nearly 30 years. The site has changed and expanded over the years, but the main reason why we like the site remains – its location. Adjacent to Cirencester Park and a 15 minute walk from the delightful Cotswold town of Cirencester makes it an ideal base for enjoying the countryside and shopping in a large range of independent stores.  Within a few miles drive are some of the prettiest Cotswolds villages. The site is well positioned for Cycling – either some challenging off-road riding towards Stroud, or pleasant road riding around the plethora of country lanes. It is a pity, however, that no cycling is permitted in Cirencester Park. Although Cirencester Park is adjacent, access is restricted to certain times. The original short cut to the park (and then the town) through the adjacent cricket ground was closed by the Estate a few years ago, but a new semi-official route developed across a neighbouring field. However on our most recent stay (November 2015), the track was too muddy to use. The Cotswold soil is very heavy and grassy areas get frequently water-logged. Apart from the newest set of pitches, apparently known as “Millionaires Row”, most hardstanding pitches are too small to comfortably accommodate van, awning and car. Wardens come and go, but most have been friendly and helpful. (The current Wardens included). However, Christmas a few years ago, the Wardens at that time couldn’t even muster a “Merry Christmas” on Dec 25th. The approach to the site is via a private road to the rear of Deer Park School. Cars parked on the service road as one leaves the A419 can be a little tricky. (Certainly during School term time). The main private drive of about 400 meters, although frequently repaired, is often pot-holed with large puddles forming after the slightest amount of rain. Families tend to camp on the grass pitches which surround the children’s well-equipped play area. The dog walk field is large and great for even bigger dogs to run around. There is a sports field as well – but note the comment about the Cotswold soil and wet weather. Although adjacent to Cirencester Park, the site is not particularly quiet. Traffic noise from the dual carriageway leading to Cirencester can be obtrusive. During recent years, Deer Park School has been expanding with what seems like never ending construction projects. Of course, such activities are loud, but I understand will be completed within a few months. In life, priorities and interests constantly change, but Cirencester Park has retained its appeal; maybe because it has something to offer all generations of campers.

Autumn break

Location by college means the site is well back from the road. Facilities block was clean and quite well laid out. Cleaning times were early afternoon when fewest people are using them - what a refreshing change (why don't more people do this). Great  fish and chip van 2 days and mobile pizza van another night, all good. Great base to tour the beautiful Cotswolds. Site is nicely laid out with areas separated by hedges and trees making it seem like lots of smaller sites. Staff really friendly and helpful. Nothing to criticise. We loved the Cotswolds so imagine we'll be back as we really enjoyed our stay.

HARD STANDING/AWNING

Arrived on the 29th oct just as the rain stopped but had such difficulty pitching the awning. We have been to plenty of sites in our caravaning journeys but this was the most difficult site of all. The ground is far too hard and bent so many pegs it was ridiculous. Payed to pitch an awning but could not do so. Several people on the site had the same problem.
