New Year break

Decide to take the van away at new year for the first. Chose Cirencester because of its location close to the town. Easy walking distance.  On arrival we were made most welcome even invited to join the staff to welcome the new year with them.  Despite the wet weather making the grassed areas more or less water logged the toilet block was always clean all day.  Thoroughly enjoyed the 3 nights we spent there and would recommend it as a base for exploring the Cotswolds.

A lovely site near a lovely town

We learned of this site earlier this year following a friend’s recommendation. This was our third visit to this site and we have just spent 16 nights there. It was our first ever Christmas and New Year experience in a Caravan and it was a wonderful experience. Having seen the site at its best in the late summer months, it was sad to see the damage caused to the grass by Motorhome and Caravan tyres. Hopefully, this will be resolved by mother nature (or the Wardens) in the coming months? Access into Cirencester from the site is a very pleasant walk which is easily done in 15 minutes although in December, as is to be expected, the ground was very muddy in places. One or two of the pitches seemed a bit on the small side and the access road to the site is poor but has been improved. The site is extremely popular with owners of dogs.

Great location but a bit of a squeeze

Returned to this site over new year having stayed here 4 years ago at a different time of the year. Last time we stayed on a lovely large grass pitch but this time stayed on a hard standing which to be honest was anything but spacious, difficult to get car on pitch without causing some damage to surrounding grass. Some of the roads are also narrow which makes it very difficult to manoeuvre onto a pitch without a motor mover or driving over grass which caused considerable damage because of very wet weather. Nevertheless great location, usual CC high quality facilities well maintained, friendly wardens and walkable into the very nice town of Cirencester. Well worth a visit

Excellent site but!

Excellent site ideally located for Cirencester. But a lot of hard standings are narrow for caravan car awning combinations, in winter this causes damage to grass and affects appearance of site. Everyone else great!

First Time Here

We managed a late booking here for 3 nights up to New Years Eve. The trees shielded or broke up the severe wind conditions. Some pitches require some serious levelling blocks and the road way is quite narrow in places, so access to a pitch without a mover is difficult without driving on the grass. The site amenities are as expected i.e. clean and tidy. The wardens polite and friendly. We will visit again in better weather for a longer stay. Could somebody explain what is recyclable in a used disposable nappy? YES it was in the mixed recycle bin!

First Christmas

My wife & I plus our dogs have stayed at this site a number of times before, but never over Christmas. In fact, this was the first Christmas we have ever spent away from home. Who says you can't have a full Christmas diner in a caravan !! We were meeting friends coming across country in their caravan and all looking forward to a 5 night stay. I would echo the comments of the most recent reviewers about the site but also particular praise to the wardens. I was greeted upon arrival with smiling faces and Christmas jumpers and that happy atmosphere was maintained over our whole 5 day stay. It also included the friendliness and Christmas spirit of our fellow caravaners & motorhomers.  What a joy the whole trip was. The only thing that the caravan club could be criticised for is not providing snow (just joking) that would have been perfect.

We look forward to Christmas 2016 at Cirencester Park already. For anyone visiting this site for the first time, you should be aware that it is effectively a single track road (now with quite a few potholes) of about 1/4 to 1/2 mile in length from turning off the main road to the reception area. Timing your arrival & departure to avoid a bottleneck and/or some reversing practice might be worthwhile (there are a few passing points on the road, which can be helpful). To us this remains to be one of the best overall sites in the CC network, "thanks to all & to all a good night".......

Beautiful area

Cirencester Park site is ideally located for walking into the centre of the town or the estate grounds. We came here in October & loved it, so came back in December to visit the Christmas Market in town....which it seems didn't happen. The site is so nice, well maintained with very friendly staff. Facilities are excellent. Shame The Bathurst Estate does not allow dogs more access to its grounds, they are so extensive, they could insist on them being on leads if they are trying to protect wildlife as they state. There is still plenty of space to walk them but you cannot explore the whole estate if they are with you.

Happy Return

The second time we stayed at Cirencester, it didn't fail to please during our one-week stay.  Although there are 211 pitches, you'd never know it whilst standing in one place.  It's spacious and well maintained with generous gaps between pitches, friendly wardens and the toilet block (only the one on this occasion due to time of year etc.) was well maintained and of good standard.  The town is walking distance with a delightful option past trees, fields and a park by way of hard or sealed pathways.  Cirencester is itself a well-heeled and delightful town with a good range of stores and eating places.  If you are into that sort of thing, the church in the centre is worth a visit.  We popped in to The Kings Head for a coffee but stayed for Sunday lunch.  Not cheap but amazingly high quality cuisine and certainly worth a visit.  (Dogs allowed in the spacious bar area.)  Back to the site, location-wise, it’s excellent and in easy driving distance from a number of other places of possible interest including Westonbirt Arboretum, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon, Bristol, Weston-super-Mare, Bath, Bristol and not least, Oxford.  It really is in the centre of all these and on our last visit, we twice visited Bath Christmas market.  We couldn’t give five stars for “suitable for families” as there are sites that offer more for kids’ activities.  Worth mentioning for the benefit of some, mobile telephone reception was excellent.  Additionally, although there is of course Caravan Club wifi, our O2 phones received 4G Internet. (I can't speak for other mobile service providers).  We are definitely going to return; in fact we have two bookings for 2016 already in place.

Nice return

Had three nights at this lovely cotswold site from 4th Dec. Second visit this year, everything is as good as first visit in the summer. Enjoyed the gentle stroll through the park to the town of Cirencester, there is so much to discover about this ancient town that more than one visit is required. Would recommend this site to all.
