We visited here for two nights as a treat for our 7 year old granddaughter, her first time away with us in Millie! We arrived just after 1.15pm and there was already a queue of units waiting to check in, the queue snaked back out onto the road. We realised as we went got further in it was because a caravan in front of us had decided to change their whole booking at the desk, hence the delay. Staff were very helpful and dealt with this as quickly as possible. Once inside the site we drove around to pick a pitch, we stopped at a water point only to be told we had to use the MSP further along, which we'd missed so had to go back out through the barrier then in again!
Got our tank full and went to our pitch, we chose one near the entrance, it was in a lovely spot, in full sunshine and overlooking fields full of horses. Our pitch was a good size and almost level, no need to use ramps.
This is such a lovely site, full of gorgeous flowers, well laid out and obviously very well mantained. It's in a superb position too as you're so close to so many amenities yet far enough away from the main traffic junction so to not be disturbed by road noise.
A 15 minute walk will take you over to Cheshire Oaks if shopping is your thing, plus plenty of places to eat here. From here you can pick up the X1 bus which can take you to Chester, the Zoo and into Liverpool.
Also close by are a few delighful pubs, all within easy walking distance, this site really does tick all the boxes!
Our first evening was very relaxed, we had a BBQ and Lottie was quite happy riding around on her scooter and soon made friends at the play area! Our neighbours also had grandchildren with them so Lottie was constantly off and away with them, she loved the freedom!
On our second day as a surprise, we walked over for the bus and went to Chester Zoo. As we're from Liverpool, we have visited Chester Zoo numerous times but not for several years. It had changed to so much with so much more to see and do-we had an amazing day!
This site is definitely worth a visit especially if you have young children with you! Having said that we will probably return as a couple as it's so nice-well done Chester Fairoaks!
Over night break
Still a nice site but beware if you want to use shower blocks as they close from 1015 to 1200 or the usual cararavan and motorhome standards bins are all in 1 corner of site also no dog poo bins only on dog walk area
Chesire fairoakes Nice Site BUT ..
This is based on a May 2022 visit.
The site is well maintained but there were a number of problems:-
1) The fob reader at the barrier is set well back on a island and even with long arms (mine are 32 inch) it was stretch to open the barrier, you cannot get too close as you may end up 'grounding' your vehicle on the kerb edges
2) Wi-Fi was, being polite, VERY POOR. We had line of sight to a Wi-Fi mast but it still took at least 6 (Six) attempts every time to get a connection, most of the time all I got was a CONNECTION TIMED OUT message. When I finally got connected it took on average of 1 (One) minute to refresh a page.
3) Gas. The site only supplies Propane, unfortunately I needed Butane. When I asked one of the wardens about Butane they said "No one uses Butane today. The connections are the same on Butane and Propane bottles so you will have no problems using Propane. The advantage of propane gas is that it burns hotter so your food will cook quicker". The warden was, according to Calor Gas, WRONG ON ALL COUNTS ! The fittings are different and Butane burns hotter.
Now the good points.
1)The site is very close to Cheshire Oakes outlet village, it is said that you can walk from the site to Cheshire Oakes and Sainsbury Supermarket in about 10 minutes. This may be true but Rake Lane (where the site is) is a narow, high hedged 40MPH road with NO FOOTPATH so taking young children along the road may be think carefully about.
2) If you wish to visit Chester the best way is to go to Chester Zoo and use the Park and Ride (Adults £2, Children £1) this drops you right by the East Gate in the city centre.
3) Now the best bit. If you are there on a Friday the Fish and Chip van is not to be missed, quality cooked to order food.
Despite all I have said we will certainly be back.

Great Site
We had a lovey time here, ended booking another night. The shower block was absolutely spotless and the wardens were working so hard around the site to keep it clean and tidy, nothing was too much trouble. Very convenient to shops and pubs that laid on great meals too. Will be booking again and thank you for a great stay.

Great site
We stay at Chester Fairoaks as our camper is serviced/MOT'd close to the site and we have done so for a few years now. So lovely to have caught up with the new wardens too, having first met them in their capacity as Assistant Wardens at Grassington...good luck guys!
The facilities are clean and well maintained, we use them daily. I also appreciated the wooden planters which surround the reception block coupled with the little fairy garden which appealed to the child in me. It would also have appealed to my grandchildren, had they been with us.
I do take on board two previous reviews where the general appearance is concerned and the closure of the facilities for those who don't rise early. To be honest though, I'm not sure how the wardens could close and clean the shower block at 1, given the hoards of campers who descend on them each day around this hour. Caravanning and camping have really taken off after the pandemic and the wardens have a real struggle to keep up with all of us sometimes.
The pitches are a little weedy however I'm sure as the year progresses, this will be addressed but please don't over weed the hedge borders or cut the grass too short...it's very evident when watching any wildlife programme these days that those borders are needed. A price I feel is worth paying to give wildlife a chance.

Break on the way to Anglesey
Very well maintained site close to arterial motorway network. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Great wardens
Fantastic location walk to outlet short walk to pub with lovely beer garden
Friendly helpful wardens very well kept site
Great spot but poor on maintenance
Great things: Friendly staff; great location ; beautiful, beautiful pub 5 mins walk away - The Rake; quiet; picturesque; spotless shower block ; great electrical supply Not so good: it seems to be poorly maintained- grass well in need of cutting and a black water disposal site still apparently, not working; shutting off the toilet block every morning from 10.30 to noon for cleaning (only one 'emergency ' loo available - surely a better time could be done for this, say 1pm to 2.30pm when I'm guessing a lot of people are out exploring?; price - I think a tad expensive given the above, especially when there's a notice in the shower block asking you to use your own facilities if possible?!
Would I use again? Probably, but I'd check out local alternatives first
Great Location but Poor Maintenance
We have visited Fairoaks at least once per year for the last 7/8 years when we found the site because of it's great location. However, in difference to many other reviews recently posted we do not accept that the site is well maintained. We do not use the general shower block so cannot comment on these facilities. But the hard-standings are absolutely full of weeds and have not been maintained in years with no definition where the edge of the pitch is in many cases. You need to know where to pitch as sadly rain is not uncommon in the west and many pitches flood badly. Whist we were there recently, our nearby toilet waste facility was closed as faulty, it was evident this had been the case for some time and was not remedied within our 5 night stay. Hedges were not trimmed. Finally the grass had not been cut this year, and with no excuse as the ground was dry, with areas near us 5 inches long and too wet most of the time to sit out on. Thus the site generally looked tatty, not the groomed experience you expect on Club sites. So we had a great time off site but not as good on site.
Standards appear to be dropping on club sites, whilst there this visit cars parked on grass not hard-standings, dogs were walked of lead, dogs roamed unattended around other members caravans with dogs and members frequently cross occupied pitches. And yet wardens take no action. We have been members since 2005 but are now considering our next renewal. This was our first trip this year, it will be interesting to see if these issues are replicated at other sites.

Lovely site in a great location
This was our first visit, and we were very impressed with this site. The welcome was friendly and informative, and the site itself is a lovely place to stay. It is immaculately maintained by the hard-working wardens, with amongst the very best shower and toilet facilities we have used anywhere. The site is in a great location, not least with the excellent, newly refurbished pub, Rake Hall, just up the road. We will be visiting again.
