Great Location but Poor Maintenance

We have visited Fairoaks at least once per year for the last 7/8 years when we found the site because of it's great location. However, in difference to many other reviews recently posted we do not accept that the site is well maintained. We do not use the general shower block so cannot comment on these facilities. But the hard-standings are absolutely full of weeds and have not been maintained in years with no definition where the edge of the pitch is in many cases. You need to know where to pitch as sadly rain is not uncommon in the west and many pitches flood badly. Whist we were there recently, our nearby toilet waste facility was closed as faulty, it was evident this had been the case for some time and was not remedied within our 5 night stay. Hedges were not trimmed. Finally the grass had not been cut this year, and with no excuse as the ground was dry, with areas near us 5 inches long and too wet most of the time to sit out on. Thus the site generally looked tatty, not the groomed experience you expect on Club sites. So we had a great time off site but not as good on site. Standards appear to be dropping on club sites, whilst there this visit cars parked on grass not hard-standings, dogs were walked of lead, dogs roamed unattended around other members caravans with dogs and members frequently cross occupied pitches. And yet wardens take no action. We have been members since 2005 but are now considering our next renewal. This was our first trip this year, it will be interesting to see if these issues are replicated at other sites.

Lovely site in a great location

This was our first visit, and we were very impressed with this site. The welcome was friendly and informative, and the site itself is a lovely place to stay. It is immaculately maintained by the hard-working wardens, with amongst the very best shower and toilet facilities we have used anywhere. The site is in a great location, not least with the excellent, newly refurbished pub, Rake Hall, just up the road. We will be visiting again.

Chester Fairoaks

Another visit to this site and once again very happy. A very well maintained site, the toilet block is always immaculate. Friendly and helpful wardens who are happy to help if needed. There are several good pubs within walking distance serving food and a fish and chips van visits the site on Friday evening. The Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet is only a 10 minute walk away with a huge range of designer shops and restaurants and the Blue Planet aquarium is nearby. Chester city centre is a 15 minute drive away and Liverpool and the mountains and coasts of north Wales and close enough for a visit, something for everyone. There is a little noise from the aircraft using Liverpool airport and from the nearby M53 and M56 motorways but it’s not loud enough to be a problem. All in all a great site.

Spotlessly clean, excellent location and helpful staff!

Fantastic wee camp site with excellent attentive service from Sean and the other wardens throughout. Facilities were spotlessly clean and modern with a great wee park for the kids. Nothing was too much trouble and the wardens spent lots of time giving advice to allow us to make the most of our time in the area. If you are visiting, we would recommend the Rake Hall restaurant next door but make sure you book in advance, even midweek. Pitches were a good size and spaced out, great location and will visit again.

A Great Site

We have stayed at this site several times in the past few years. The site’s facilities have always been clean but on this occasion they were exceptionally so. The Wardens were helpful and friendly throughout which for us, is always a key ingredient to a successful stay. The pub near the site has been rebranded and now called Rake Hall, we had a lovely meal there and thought it was well worth the visit. We will return.

An Absolute Gem

Just returned from a short trip to Chester and wanted to say how impressed we were with everything at Fairoaks! Staff are lovely and so helpful. We had a faulty electrical cable - should have checked it before arrival - and the warden came quickly to the rescue! Facilities on site are immaculate and a credit to the hard working staff. Location is excellent, lots to see and do within easy access for all the family. There’s shops and restaurants galore and a bus that drops off at Chester Zoo. Our bus driver on IX was very helpful too. We will definitely return to Chester Fairoaks Club Site - we really enjoyed our stay!

Fabulous site with great staff

The site is in a great location, the facilities lovely and clean and the wardens are fabulous, really friendly and helpful. Cheshire Oaks with it’s shops and restaurants is a few minutes walk away and the bus to Chester (or Liverpool) runs every 20 minutes.

Few days away

Really clean site with friendly wardens. Walking distance to Cheshire oaks where you’ll find loads of shops and eateries. Only gripe Is closing the showers for an hour half very early in the morning. The time they close for cleaning is the time you wan to be getting ready. If you wait till midday to get ready you’ve lost half your day. If the site can’t clean later due to staff capacity then the caravan club should consider getting external cleaners in later in the day.nice pub near by - 5 minute walk

Excellent Site

First time visit, found easy off the M53. Check in was easy and staff helpful. The facilities were immaculate. The only query was why close at 1015 to 1230 to clean when most people go away to relax and 1015 could be a little early for some, we were ok tho. Great access to Cheshire Oaks outlet shopping a 15 minute walk. 29 minute walk to cinema. Rake Hall restaurant 250yds down the lane was superb but strongly advise booking a table well in advance as it is very popular. Avoid Harvester across the main road the locals advised us that the food and service was not good. We got a taxi (£6.50) to Chester Zoo and had a fantastic day then got the bus back to Cheshire Oaks. Overall a fantastic stay one of the best facilities and staff

Winter stay

This site is ideally place easy to find and near to a lot of amenities, there is a great pub just down the road from the site for drinks and food. Cheshire Oaks is within walking distance. The only issue I found is when the toilet block is cleaned they close the whole block from 10.15am till 12pm which I think is a bit to early be better if they were closed a bit later so you don’t have to rush in the morning to get in for a shower before 10.15am.
