Pleasant break

Just had a pleasant Monday to Friday break at Cheshire Fairoaks. Immaculate facilities, not unlike the other Club Sites we've visited. The proximity of the motorway and a bit of traffic noise wasn't a problem (not dissimilar to the crashing of waves on a beach). Play area for kids and dog walk area for dogs. Ideal for Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet and other attractions - cinema, eateries and aquarium. Buses run every ten minutes to Chester and Liverpool, £4.40 adult day ticket good value. Chester Zoo well worth a visit. Chester interesting place. The nearest pub (The Rake) closed at the moment, not to worry with the Old Hall Farm Public House doing two meals for £11 and the Harvester also close. KFC and Costa Coffee also on route to Cheshire Oaks as well as a Sainsburys supermarket. Lack of a pavement on road from site wasn't a problem with care (used torches at night). Ideal if you want a site with a variety of attractions close by.

Our third trip to Chester Fair Oaks

This site is very convenient for the shopping outlet but because it is near the motorway there is a lot of traffic noise, so take ear plugs. The shower block lovely and clean . Some of the pitches flood badly but because we arrived whilst there was wet weather we could see the problem pitches. Some of the worst pitches were marked with cones so were out of action. The flooding problem has been going on for years so you would have thought the problem would have been sorted by now. Lovely Marston pub that does a carvery Monday to Saturday £11 for two people. Lovely coffee shop at the Designer Outlet. Prefer to go in winter not a summer break for us as we prefer a quieter site.

January break

On arrival we received a friendly welcome from the wardens and there were plenty of available pitches to choose from and the site and toilet block were spotless and tidy. There is a continuous hum from both the M56 and M53 traffic and there’s low flying aircraft noise well into the night. The toilet block although immaculate, was quite cold and involved a brisk shower to stay warm. The main attraction for the site seems to be the retail park, 15 minutes walk away, however, the 300m stretch of road from the club site to the junction is a nightmare especially as there is no footpath and cars seem to want to race along this narrow section of road day and night as its a direct route to Chester. We think this site is more of a stopover site than a place for a relaxing break and it is expensive for what the site offers, especially in January, the site could benefit everyone by having a mid-week discount rate to make the site more attractive and better value for money.

Short shopping visit

Been to this site now 4 times over the last 10 years had 4nights on this trip late November. Very noisy due to the M53 motorway nearby but didn't bother us to much you do get used to it after a while. Great location for shopping at Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet. Chester is a lovely city and about 5 miles from site, park near to racecourse £5 all day expensive parking in the city otherwise. The wardens are so friendly and helpful, Site was very wet when we were there but the wardens did their best to keep it clean and tidy. Toilets an showers were as always spotless.

Don’t forget your ear plugs

Just back from a short trip here, it’s a nice site but the traffic noise was incessant.

Some reviews do mention the noise but they don’t seem to think its a problem. Do these people live on main roads?

I honestly could not believe how bad it was. Glad to be back home and definitely won’t be back.

Great Place to visit Chester and Merseyside Area

We booked three nights at this camp site. On the day we arrived we received a nice warm welcome and the site access facilities were explained well. The site facilities are excellent modern clean and the toilets in winter were warm clean and nice music playing. The site is the perfect location for local shopping walking and visiting the area. Public transport buses are only a 5 minute walk to Cheshire Oaks from there you can get to Chester and Liverpool and indeed other places of interest. No wonder this site is busy its excellent. We will be staying again next year in the spring.

Disappointed

Tried to book 2 week stay on this site, many months in advance, as I had business to attend in Chester, showing full one night over a weekend, tried through the site, & head office for this one night but no good, had to alter my plans in the end, and only managed to get one week. Although there were some flooded pitches, there were also empty ones, but site full sign was on the entrance gate, and by no means full. Would have been interested to see how full it was on the one night that was unavailable to me, to me FULL should mean FULL !!!!

Comment from the Club:

Thank you for your recent review and we are so sorry that you had problems trying to book a longer stay on site. We have looked into matters during your stay and we can advise you that we were having some essential works taking place that led to the booking of pitches being temporarily blocked via the website.

The Site Warden team were managing this daily and were close to the situation ,and were able to release pitches on a daily basis. Please always make your needs known to the site team or give them a call as they usually have the latest up to date information.

We know that Chester Fairoaks is one of our busier sites and certain sites cause frustration to get into, so we hope your next visit will be for much longer and we can welcome you back soon.

Now I know why it is so popular.

This is my first visit and can see why it is so popular, follow directions from the handbook and it is an easy navigation to site. Excellent welcome from the Site Team even after a long drive. The site is typical CAMC standard. There is plenty to do in the area, there is the rather large Cheshire Outlet shopping centre which is walk able, but remember to take a torch if walking back at night.Time to walk is around 10 mins. Port Sunlight is an interesting visit, apart from the lovely "village" it was interesting to look back on John Lever's very modern approach to his workforce.Never has soap been more interesting. Liverpool was visited by catching the No.X1 ( or 1 but slower) for £8.40 return for two adults from the Shopping Outlet again. The site does give a leaflet out but this says no8 bus.Bus time is around an hour though.Even managed a pint in the Cavern Club !As it was a one day visit we did use the hop on hop off bus with commentary. Our last day was a visit and walk around the City walls of Chester using a map from the Tourist Information did explain area's as we walked. We did drive into Chester though. Would I go back ...yes, but without the wife's credit card.

Third visit this year

One of our favourite sites. It is flat nicely laid out and well run. It was very wet when we were there after three weeks of heavy rain, but the wardens had coped well, and only a couple of pitches were a problem. Great location for visiting the city and the huge outlet centre is only across the road. Plenty of places to eat nearby and good fish and chip van twice a week. I am sure that we will be there again next year.

Great site to usual CMC standards

We've stayed at Chester Fairoaks before and it remains a great site. Ideal for exploring Chester and within easy reach of Liverpool. Chester Zoo, in our opinion is one of the best in the country. The nearby Outlet Village is huge with many stores being dog friendly. Pubs & eateries are within an easy walk. The site itself is to the usual CMC high standards with pleasant wardens and spotless facilities. Small secure dog walk on site. The weather was very wet when we stayed and several of the pitches and the grass areas were really waterlogged but this didn't spoil our stay.
