Haven of peace and quiet

Booked as a last minute thing over the bank holiday and what a pleasant surprise. Lovely location with great views and really quiet and peaceful. Toilets admittedly a tad old fashioned but immaculately clean and loads of space with no queues for showers. Not much for younger children on site but this was not a problem as there is LOADS to see in the surrounding areas. Wardens were top notch too; friendly and helpful without being in your face. Would recommend you put this on your list of sites to visit.

Travellers

The lady warden very helpfully advised us of the situation on arrival and offered us the choice of an alternative site due to the insurgency of Gypsy's. We stayed as we were just booked for 1 night. It wouldn't have taken much effort for East Grinstead to e mail a!l booked members to advise of the situation on site prior to their arrival but this did not happen in our case.

Travellers on Site

We were looking forward to staying at Cheltenham and arrived only to find our traveller friends were occupying part of the site. We decided, as did some 17 other people prior to our arrival, to go elsewhere.  The lady at Reception was extremely helpful and booked us in at Blackmore instead. We will return to Cheltenham hopefully in better circumstances. Unable to rate the site however have marked it as 5/5 in order to leave this review.

So much to do!

We also booked for 3 nights but stayed for 7 on our 'ringside', hardstanding pitch. Both sets of wardens were helpful and friendly. We visited so much close to the site: 2 NT properties- Snowshill Manor and Croome, neither the usual palatial stately home; the JetAge museum at Staverton on the outskirts of Cheltenham;steam trains at the edge of the racecourse; Gloucester Docks, Cathedral and city;an amazing cycle parts shop in Upton on Severn; and a fascinating visit to the site by 'La Rollende' hotel...another way to travel, worth an Internet peep! All in all a brilliant site... not just a stopover for the Southwest!

Fifth time to stay

This was our fifth visit and the site is perfectly situated to attend our church's annual conference at the Racecourse. We always choose a grass pitch overlooking the racecourse, the views are lovely. There is a bit of noise at night from the adjacent park and ride car park as joy riders do visit to practise their handbrake turns, usually however this happens on a weekend night and to be fair they don't joy ride for long!! Great location for the town and local park which, having had a recent refit, is absolutely fantastic. The site itself is clean and well kept. I would definitely recommend it for a short or week break.

Great Views

We booked in for two nights late July. Our pitch was upon a block paved ramp, which was ok for us , as we were not using an awning, and gave us great views across the racecourse. The warden and his wife were very friendly, working hard keeping the site clean. Only a mile into the centre of Cheltenham, which is a nice walk in the park .

Very pleasant site

We were booked for 3 nights but found the site and location so pleasant we stayed for another 2 nights. I was concerned as it is a racecourse site and the club area is really a car park but it is well laid out and everything you need is there. The site is very close to Cheltenham and the Pittville park walk to the town is very pleasant. I need to use a mobility scooter and the pavements are very bad for a class 2 scooter, so be careful if you need to use one. The wardens were very helpful and pleasant and the toilet facilities well up to Club standards. We will definitely visit this site again.

Juni 2016

Great Location

Lovely clean site with a wonderful view.  Easy access to many locations and walking distance to Cheltenham, well worth a visit.  In my opinion always try to get a grass pitch !
