Chatsworth

We stayed here September 2022 and we’re very happy about everything on the site but what impressed us the most was the help and friendliness of all the staff , especially Ali who went above and beyond to help us enjoy our stay, Ali is a great member of the team , thank you Ali x

Love it

We stay at Chatsworth every year as we love the site and the location. I agree with other comments that the price is quite high but other than camping rough in a farmers field you get what you pay for. The weather makes every holiday so yes if its pouring down you aint' going to be able to walk around in a 'T' shirt and shorts. The site is immaculate, the wardens are very friendly as always and the pitches are well spaced out. I have seen that 'bendy' bollards have been erected around the site to stop people from driving over the grassed area and yes it does make it a little tight to swing big units around some corners but take it nice and slow and its easy to get past. We did see some units pulling onto the sight and driving around like it was Wacky Racers obviously looking for the best pitch which really annoys me. The site has ducks, robins and crows all popping over to say hello in the hope of food being thrown out for them, and the gate into the grounds gives easy walking access to the house itself of a short walk into Baslow village for food & drink. All in all a beautiful site in a stunning location. * And the rumours about the site closing are false so don't believe what you hear * :-)

Lovely site, shame about the tree sap!

We stayed for one night on to break up a journey home and unfortunately it was spoiled by very heavy rain, so we didn't get to explore Chatsworth or the local pubs! The site is large, but very well organised by friendly wardens, facilities well maintained. However, the price is the highest on any Club site so far in our first year, and the experience was spoiled somewhat by having to get the van straight to the cleaners as it was left with awful sticky brown tree sap stains that had covered the roof and ran down every panel overnight and took a lot of removing! With that and the expense it may well put us off staying again which would be a shame - and if we do we will avoid parking under any trees!

best site

just spent a few days at chatsworth caravan club site Again. it has gone up quite a bit in price per night since we last went in 2019 but we wanted a holiday so paid it. There is a nice long drive up to the site down a narrow lane which is why they don't like people turning up early, so to give the leavers a chance to get off site. you can turn up early but have to wait a little way up the lane until 1pm which is fair and then you cross a little bridge and into the site. is a small shop selling basics. ample space for those wanting awnings up, some spaces are lovely with big grass areas at the back of the van. toilet and shower blocks are always clean. staff are helpful. also on site there are lots of ducks and birds including robins. the further onto the site, the more big birds in the trees. is an enclosed dog walk area where it is safe to let dogs off lead. and then the gate into chatsworth grounds, even our dogs love that one. its like the secret garden, you open the gate and your eyes are filled with the beauty of chatsworth grounds. it does state to keep dogs on leads in chatsworth grounds but you always see a few off lead as their owners seem to think their dogs are exempt. there are quite a few nice places to visit, we went to the ladybower dam and linacre reservoir, both are beautiful and make good walks.is lots of lovely places within half hour drive but we spent most time in chatsworth grounds. chatsworth garden centre has a cafe as does chatsworth house and baslow, which you can easily walk to through chatsworth grounds. Chatsworth farm shop is good especially if you plan a bbq hard not to come away with more than you want, expensive on some products but worth it.

Beautiful location and site

We have just returned from this beautiful location. We arrived well after 1pm as we had read there is only a short waiting area before a very busy road. The site is always very busy so we were very pleased to find a nice pitch under trees. Not everybody’s choice but in the very hot weather it was ideal. The staff are all pleasant and work hard keeping everything clean and tidy. The access gate to Chatsworth is the icing on the cake and we were able to stroll when it was a little cooler in the evening when nobody else was around. The wood fired pizza on Sunday and Wednesday were excellent and there is a little shop in reception for basic items. Our only issue (that we will talk to the warden about when we are able to book again) is some of the internal roadways are very narrow on corners for a larger twin axle with plastic bollards on some junctions restricting taking a wide turn. Fabulous site in a fantastic location.

Disappointing

This was the most expensive site we've booked this year (£44.10 per night for a standard pitch) so we had high hopes of a stunning site. We were very disappointed to find that most of the better located pitches were taken - the site doesn't let anyone on site until after 1.00pm but they do allow them to wait in the lane which means they get let on the site first and those of us who arrive after 1.00pm get the pitches that are left. Our pitch was cramped and we had a lot of noise from neighbouring pitches - the neighbours weren't particularly noise, just very close. The site no longer has bins at the service points as the site staff are reducing the amount of plastic used (which is good news) however they have large Biffa bins in front of the toilet block and these are an eyesore - especially with the lids propped open. The only good thing about the site was the gate into the parkland and the lovely walks around the area - we loved the area but won't return to this site.

A Breath of Fresh Air

We have spent a wonderful four days at our favourite site. First outing since pandemic began. Breath of fresh air. Staff very helpful and friendly. Great to be able to walk out into Chatsworth Park. A lovely setting and amenities are clean. Ideal base for seeing some stunning scenery in the Peak District. Highly recommended site. Angela Rowell

Great site, stunning

We had been recommended this site. An interesting long narrow road as you enter. Lovely facilities and the best stocked site shop we have ever come across. They give you a key to the door to Chatsworth Park and its beautiful. Ducks wandering from pitch to pitch. On the negative, the intro says "great for dogs" they do have the usual off lead exercise area on site...but the whole of Chatsworth requires dogs on leads..which was disappointing for us. Also there were a lot of crows on site which got noisy in the mornings. I would recommend this site, but change the site description and be specific about no off lead dig walking.

Weekend Away

We hadn't been to this site for over a year. The wardens are friendly and helpful, they give you an information sheet that they have done themselves to make your stay even better! You have access to the grounds via a key to the door on the site, this makes for a lovely walk. We went to the Devonshire Arms expensive (would have been cheaper had we remembered that people on this site get a discount)! However it was very nice and they did some lovely desserts and nothing was too much trouble. We have booked to come back next year and can't wait.

Lovely stay

We stayed for 1 night to enable us to visit Chatsworth House. We had such a lovely time we would have liked to have stayed longer. We’re greeted by a lovely man, who, when we told him this was our first motorhome trip, gave us details of exactly what to do. We were told to choose any pitch with a white peg and as long as we were between the pegs to go in forward or backwards. Parked up and went to reception in the shop. Another lovely lady gave us info and a key for the gate into Chatsworth. We were parked by the dog walk and gate, but it was private and peaceful. Lovely day at Chatsworth House, 15 minutes walk through the grounds. Pizza van came on the evening we were there and we got 2 fantastic freshly made stone baked margaritas, but order them early as they run out quickly. The facilities were clean and modern. Ducks and pheasants wander among the pitches, and there are deer in the park. Although busy when we were there we didn’t feel encroached upon. Ours was a standard pitch with ehu but plenty of space around our MH. Will definitely go back.
