Christmas Chatsworth

We came to Chatsworth to visit the house, and as a bonus, the Christmas market. The house did not disappoint, it's truly spectacular, every room took your breath away with it's opulence and splendor. The market was huge , and what it lacked in quality it made up for in quantity. The site was brilliant, very well cared for and spotlessly clean, the facility block was warm, and the showers were piping hot. The only downside was a lack of 4G, but that was because of all the stall holders at the market. Their card machines were using all the bandwidth, but it improved vastly when the market closed. We'd definitely come back again, there's so much to see and do.

Another great time

We recently stayed at this site & it never fails, we don’t normally have much to do with the wardens only when going to say what pitch we are on but will always say good morning/afternoon but on this occasion we had an issue with our caravan, the wardens couldn’t have been more helpful, they didn’t fix the issue but the advise they gave was very helpful, so hubby got it sorted, this is a fav site of ours we try to go once a year & we have never had a bad experience at this site, I would just like to say Thankyou to the wardens.

Fantastic site

This site is our absolute all time favourite and only an hour from home. The Location for visiting Derbyshire is perfect with so much to see and do locally, the access to Chatsworth park is an added bonus. The staff are knowledgeable and pleasant and keep the site and facilities in perfect condition. The only thing I want to point out is the fact that the 2 hairdryers in the ladies is on the wall between 2 hand-basins which can be a bit of a nuisance when people are wanting to wash their hands whilst trying to dry your hair. Lovely site and have already booked for 2 more visits in 2023

Amazing bonfire weekend

Enjoyed a fabulous bonfire weekend, we actually got to see 4 amazing firework displays. We love staying at this site, as soon as you enter it is like stepping off the roundabout and you can just relax. Being able to take advantage of Chatsworth parkland is such a gift, my granddaughter loved the special key you are given to get through the secret door and into the park. It is a very special place.

SEPTEMBER 2022

Fabulous site - cannot recommend it highly enough! Perfect location, Chatsworth House and Gardens are absolutely stunning. Lovely pubs in Baslow - fantastic food at The Wheatsheaf. Lovely quiet walks around the estate. Can't wait to return next year.

Wow - a "must visit"

We stopped here for two nights as part of a visit to Chatsworth House On arrival we were welcomed at the entrance by a member of the on-site team (they can hear you coming down the drive), who directed us straight into the site, asking us to return later and report which pitch we had taken and to pay, at which point they gave us a key to get through the gate and into the Chatsworth gardens. The site is absolutely full of friendly ducks, who will gather around your door to be fed. They will also wander across the road in front of you without a care, so drive carefully. We also saw lots of beautiful Goldfinches flying around, along with numerous Wrens, Tits and Robins. Our pitch backed on to the river Derwent, with a lovely view and - yes, even more ducks! We were under trees, so we did experience the brown "sap" after a rain storm, but it was more like someone had splashed the motorhome with tea, and it all washed off the next day in the rain. Site facilities were fully up to club standards, with a special mention to the exceptionally friendly and helpful site team. We will definitely return here. This is a superb site, and Chatsworth House itself is awesome!!!!

Love it

We stay at Chatsworth every year as we love the site and the location. I agree with other comments that the price is quite high but other than camping rough in a farmers field you get what you pay for. The weather makes every holiday so yes if its pouring down you aint' going to be able to walk around in a 'T' shirt and shorts. The site is immaculate, the wardens are very friendly as always and the pitches are well spaced out. I have seen that 'bendy' bollards have been erected around the site to stop people from driving over the grassed area and yes it does make it a little tight to swing big units around some corners but take it nice and slow and its easy to get past. We did see some units pulling onto the sight and driving around like it was Wacky Racers obviously looking for the best pitch which really annoys me. The site has ducks, robins and crows all popping over to say hello in the hope of food being thrown out for them, and the gate into the grounds gives easy walking access to the house itself of a short walk into Baslow village for food & drink. All in all a beautiful site in a stunning location. * And the rumours about the site closing are false so don't believe what you hear * :-)

Lovely site, shame about the tree sap!

We stayed for one night on to break up a journey home and unfortunately it was spoiled by very heavy rain, so we didn't get to explore Chatsworth or the local pubs! The site is large, but very well organised by friendly wardens, facilities well maintained. However, the price is the highest on any Club site so far in our first year, and the experience was spoiled somewhat by having to get the van straight to the cleaners as it was left with awful sticky brown tree sap stains that had covered the roof and ran down every panel overnight and took a lot of removing! With that and the expense it may well put us off staying again which would be a shame - and if we do we will avoid parking under any trees!

best site

just spent a few days at chatsworth caravan club site Again. it has gone up quite a bit in price per night since we last went in 2019 but we wanted a holiday so paid it. There is a nice long drive up to the site down a narrow lane which is why they don't like people turning up early, so to give the leavers a chance to get off site. you can turn up early but have to wait a little way up the lane until 1pm which is fair and then you cross a little bridge and into the site. is a small shop selling basics. ample space for those wanting awnings up, some spaces are lovely with big grass areas at the back of the van. toilet and shower blocks are always clean. staff are helpful. also on site there are lots of ducks and birds including robins. the further onto the site, the more big birds in the trees. is an enclosed dog walk area where it is safe to let dogs off lead. and then the gate into chatsworth grounds, even our dogs love that one. its like the secret garden, you open the gate and your eyes are filled with the beauty of chatsworth grounds. it does state to keep dogs on leads in chatsworth grounds but you always see a few off lead as their owners seem to think their dogs are exempt. there are quite a few nice places to visit, we went to the ladybower dam and linacre reservoir, both are beautiful and make good walks.is lots of lovely places within half hour drive but we spent most time in chatsworth grounds. chatsworth garden centre has a cafe as does chatsworth house and baslow, which you can easily walk to through chatsworth grounds. Chatsworth farm shop is good especially if you plan a bbq hard not to come away with more than you want, expensive on some products but worth it.
