VERY Busy Weekends, VERY Peaceful in the Week.

This is a really great location and Club site. The public is free to roam Chatsworth Estates 35000 acres (or so) at will, anytime they want to. But there is something exciting, even magical, being presented at check-in with your very own key to the 'gate in the wall' giving all site campers their very own (alright shared) private entrance into the grounds. The pitches are quite level, they are more spacious than many camc site pitches and the woodland setting is peaceful, restful and gives a feeling of being properly away from civilisation ... which one is. Because of the long (very long) single width entry road, the club's 1pm rule is rigidly applied. There is room for perhaps 3 to 4 vehicles to park and wait for that crucial time to come just off the main road, but only two caravans. So be warned, it's better, safer and wiser, to arrive a few minutes after 1pm. There are 2 spots along the entry road whcih require paying full attention if you have a larger than average MH or an 8' wide caravan. There are ducks, squirrel's, deer, owls, bats, and a plethora of bird types to see from your unit's windows and even more once on the estate grounds. This is a site for everyone to experience at least once, but prepare well in advance. This must qualify as 'the' busiest weekend site camc has. Fills to the brim on Friday, empties on Sunday and fairly quiet in the week, or this has been our winter experience. The team running the site could not be nicer, friendlier or more helpful. They keep facilities in need of refurbishment, spotless and it must take a lot of hard (not always nice) work during the weekends and other busy periods.

Excellent site

Our 1st visit to Chatswoth despite us living not that far away and we where not disappointed, despite arriving at bang on 1pm as instructed there where still a number of caravans and MHs in front so people are not doing as they are told but apart from that really enjoyed our 8 night stay we managed to get a pitch near the secret door which after a while our dogs thought was amazing it opened up a whole new world for them. We did loads of walks hardly used the car at all walked to garden centre, Chatsworth farm shop where they do excellent cappuccino's and Edensor amongst other places. One minor gripe most of the pitches are looking a bit tired and are in need of some more gravel other than that thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great location.

This was our 1st visit to Chatsworth and we had a great time. This site is all about its location right in the grounds of Chatsworth House. Just outside the site is 1,000 acres of Chatsworth parkland to walk around and Chatsworth House itself can be seen from the site. The site itself is very similar to York Rowntree Park and has the look of a large car park with pitches close to each other. Without Chatsworth House next door no one would visit. The village of Baslow is a short walk away and has a couple of dog friendly pubs that serves food. We enjoyed our time at Chatsworth and will return.

Great site and location

We’ve only just joined the club and this was the second site we stayed at. We booked a super pitch to make things easier and were delighted with that friendly helpful staff, the site itself and how well kept it was including the toilet block and also the location. There is direct access to the chatsworth house estate through a locked gate that guests get a key for with lots to see and lots of walks to do. You are also a short walk away from Baslow village which has a couple of good pubs and restaurants and a Co-Op. we will definitely be back. We would recommend a visit to the Prince of Wales pub which is dog friendly and serves great food and drinks… if you’re a beer drinker try the Moonshine.

Favourite site and helpful wardens

This is a favourite site of ours, we love the location, the walks straight from the site into Chatsworth and the surrounding area and the peace and quiet (apart from the crows!). Check in was quick and easy with a warden out to welcome and tick us off, then off to find a pitch and return to reception with the number to collect the gate key. No 'queue jumpers' etc which I've heard about. We initially had booked two nights and wanted to stay for longer so booked the only type of pitch available which was different to ours. The wardens managed to keep us on our own pitch after a cancellation which was great. Will definitely be back for more walking and relaxation. Thank you to the wardens for all their help.

TOILET BLOCK?

Booked this site as we have been many times such a lovely place to stay, we booked 21st and 22nd Jan the warden said the the site was full which we could see.The following morning I went to the gents and found I was in a queue which I thought was unusual.later in the day I went back to the toilets and Monday and found that the staff had locked two out of the five toilets [no wander we are queuing ] and washrooms locked off as well. Come on CMC are we offering a service or not?

Our favourite winter weekend site

We stayed at Chatsorth 19th to 23rd Jan 2023 and previously mid December 2022. Lovely site with very friendly and helpful staff. Great location for walks and lovely pubs in Baslow. It was really,, y cold this time and most of the water and waste points froze. The staff worked hard to ,eep things going and we had several lower failures on the Saturday evening which were eventually sorted out.the only negative comment we have was the lack of gritting to the motor home service point area which was thick sheet ice all weekend and was the same back in December. You would think this area would be given priority in icy Conditions to keep it clear but not even a sprinkle of rock salt was applied. Only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs in this area. Having said that we have already booked for December 2023 and will continue to do so.

Lovely relaxing weekend with walks direct from site

We stayed here last weekend, our first visit to the site, though regulars at Chatsworth. We loved the site, with such friendly staff, even standing out greeting new arrivals at their vehicles. The shop was well stocked with lots of tempting goodies. We really enjoyed walking in the park, via the secret door. I hadn't expected this to be wheelchair accessible but I was pleasantly surprised! The facilities were clean and in good condition, the usual high standards. Nobody's fault but the only negative was a couple of hours of power cuts (or someone repeatedly blowing the fuses) on Saturday night, but all credit to the staff who stayed up into the early hours to ensure it got resolved.
