The setting is incredibly beautiful and the site is a great base if you like to go walking. However, you are packed into the site like sardines and the pitches themselves are difficult to get into, you can't simply reverse in. Without a mover on your van you are likely to have difficulty. The site is not what you would call child friendly, with it being packed there is no room for children to wonder round and I saw several near misses with vehicles. However, it is a great place simply as a base and you can go and let off steam in Chatsworth's grounds. On arrival, the gentleman (warden I think) was not exactly the most helpful and was certainly not welcoming, however, the lady was lovely.
The road too the site is challenging and you have to park on a blind bend for reception (at the stop line), it would be interesting to know how many accidents there have been. This is the first time I've stayed on a Caravan Club site, being a new member, I hope its not a reflection of all others in terms of the practicalities.
Beautiful setting but there are downsides

Nice site, with a great setting.
If you love the Chatsworth Estate, then this is the place for you. If you don't, then don't book here. It Is right on the estate with great access to the grounds in and around Chatsworth house, but bar this great feature, there isn't anything else around bar a pub or two. Only 5 minutes drive from Bakewell, which is a great place. And then further a field, Chesterfield and various other places 30 mins drive plus.
We found the site to be quite cramped, we did go on a weekend, so it was obviously jam packed, but you felt it. Where some other sites can be full but still seem to feel spacious. We seemed very close to the vans at the side of us, and also the van in front. And every where you looked there were more caravans packed.
Usual CC facilities, great shower block, play area etc
Regular Visitor
I love this part of the world, and thank goodness for this site. I have visited many times over the past two years and each time has been excellent. The grounds are impeccable, as are the washroom facilities. The location is second to none. I have visited with a friend and on my own with my dogs. I feel safe at this site, and there's so much to see and do in the area. I can highly recommend it.

Just the Chatsworth site
We have been here before and always like the site, weather not brill this week but never mind.
The only thing that I do not understand is related to the super pitches, why does the club allow motor homes to use them as they get no benefit from the pitch and prevent caravans from using them as they are nearly always fully booked, well at least weekends they are which makes it almost impossible to enjoy a week at the site. Im sure this will provoke instant comment and some one will want to tell me that everybody id entitled to whats on offer at any time etc, well I know that and agree but!
Wardens actually had a go at someone for not parking in the correct place on the pitch and a couple of speeders (out of the majority that do) Good for them more of it.

A Suprising Site
Our first visit to Chatsworth was a delight. We were motorhoming with friends and we all decided to go for a walk after setting up. It is a super site with good access to Chatsworth Park and good walking and cycling nearby. Be aware that cycling in the ground of Chatsworth Park is only permitted on tarmac roads. A 4 mile walk to Bakewell was excellent with the return bus dropping us off in Chatsworth Park. An excellent site with very clean facilities. Make sure you comply with the arrival and departure times, there's a good reason for them!
Very helpful staff who go out of their way to help.
Our first visit to the Peak District
We spent a very enjoyable four days on the site. A very good location with excellent access to Chatsworth grounds. Disappointed the house and garden was closed but enjoyed the estate.
Excellent site
Visited last week from Sunday to Friday, but would have liked to have stayed longer, but the weekend was fully booked. A very popular site with arrivals lined up on the approach road from the dot of 1 o'clock. Very quiet site with lovely walks through Chatsworth Park. Friendly staff who maintain the site very well.
Excellent site
First visit and definitely not our last! What a lovely site and super team of wardens. Site is clean, well situated and lovely facilities on hand. Definitely dog friendly with plenty of lovely country walks around and about. Chatsworth right on our doorstep and loads to do in the area although we chose to relax and remained pretty local. We would definitely recommend and we plan to return this year!

Another year in our motorhome starts at Chatsworth
Just returned from another trip to Chatsworth we really love this site, good walks, bus to nearby towns, food and drink available in Baslow village after a lovely walk in Chatsworth grounds. Staff on site are really friendly and work very hard to keep everywhere looking good. We arrived on a Friday so it was busy checking in, the arrival time is not until 1pm and we arrived at 5 past but despite this there were more than a dozen units ahead of us and we had to wait in the lane, not a problem but it does make you wonder if others are not sticking to the rules and arriving early. My only negative comment would be about the shower/toilet block. The staff do a great job of keeping them clean despite the muddy floors now we don't have mops to use, but I think the drains may need attention as the was a constant bad drain smell. My husband said this was not the case in the Mens block. This will not put us off visiting the site though as everything else is perfect.
