Another good site

Even though it is very difficult to get booked in as this site is so popular it is well worth it. Wardens good, site excellent especially the service pitches. Great to walk straight into Chatsworth estate. The local area has alot of excellent restuarants and eating pubs. The Chatsworth farm shop is well worth a visit and there is plenty to do in the surrounding area with places like Bakewell etc. The only thing i would say is will people please note the arrival times for this site as it is a long single carriageway to the site and a number of members still tried to get in before 1pm which could have caused a bottle neck on the entrance lane.

Beautiful Escape

Our first visit to this site. Beautiful location, it does not get much better than this. Staff as usual, really helpful and pleasant. Tried a number of times to get on this site, and found a weekend "in February" where we could use the site through the weekend and mid week! Just a lovely site, with fantastic wild life all around, hoof and wing! Oh one more comment, expected a really tight entrance to the site from what we had been told, not really, very manageable.

Chatsworth Charms

Two very relaxing February days spent walking, watching wildlife  and wondering why we do not use this site more often...we only live 9 miles away. it was was wet, windy and it did not really matter. We were well shod and suitably dressed. Walked from the site to Carlton Lees. Enjoyed good hot food in the garden centre cafe. Returned along the bank of the river. Herds of deer, flocks of sheep and convoys of ducks ~ the latter eager to gobble duck food available from site reception. Facilities excellent ... This is Chatsworth ! Wardens and staff efficient , polite and keen to make members' time here as pleasant as possible. If you haven't been to Chatsworth then you should book and come . C & J Rice

Winter break in Chatsworth

One night while looking through the availabilty I noticed Chatsworth was free. As this is rare I decided to book the weekend and hope the snow kept away. How lucky was we. When we arrived at 1pm there was a queue of units waiting to check in. The wardens greeted us advising us of the entrance and the little bridge. We was checked in very quick and soon was all set up and ready for the weekend. We went for a walk in the grounds of Chatsworth, saw all the deer. It has lots of walks round, should you decide you can visit the house. We didnt this visit on this occasion. Our walk took us into Baslow where we decided to call into the Wheatsheef for a drink. Lovely coal fire, lovely food , good prices so we decided to stay for a meal. We eventually headed back to our caravan as it was just getting dusk. The next morning we decided to take a walk to Bakewell, this is a lovely walk through the grounds taking in the lovely scenery, still with a covering of snow. After a walk round Bakewell, we caught the bus back that takes you into the grounds of Chatsworth House and walked back to the site. Regrettably Sunday came all too soon when we had to leave. The weather was perfect, cold but beautiful blue skys. The wardens are very pleasant, and have the procedure booking in well organised to prevent too much conjestion. They had 70 arrivals that date, and the site was full. I would recommend the site if you are lucky to be able to get on.

A Great Site

My partner and I styled here on a cold February weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful making the booking in quick and easy. All the facilities were spick and span clean making showering and washing enjoyable. The site is located in part of an old walled garden and being given a key to the gate in the wall that leads straight into the grounds of Chatsworth House is a real bonus. One small niggle is that the super pitches are tight for placing the caravan and car and more so if and awning is erected. All a great stay that will be repeated

Very enjoyable stay

We stayed at this site for 2 nights and had a lovely time, easy access to the Peak District for walking and the Chatsworth estate was great for relaxing walks. The little village of Baslow is a short walk where we visited two pubs and thoroughly enjoyed both. Bakewell is close by and we really enjoyed the farmers market that was on. The toilets and showers were very clean and tidy. We really liked all the wildlife on the site and found the ducks very entertaining.

Fantastic As ever!!

Back to caravanning after a 5 year break, and this was our first trip out in our new to us van! The pitches, toilets, showers washing up areas were all immaculate, couldn't have asked for more friendly and helpful wardens, even the ducks and pheasants greeted us.  Brilliant area for walking and will be booking again without doubt!
