A Great Site

My partner and I styled here on a cold February weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful making the booking in quick and easy. All the facilities were spick and span clean making showering and washing enjoyable. The site is located in part of an old walled garden and being given a key to the gate in the wall that leads straight into the grounds of Chatsworth House is a real bonus. One small niggle is that the super pitches are tight for placing the caravan and car and more so if and awning is erected. All a great stay that will be repeated

Very enjoyable stay

We stayed at this site for 2 nights and had a lovely time, easy access to the Peak District for walking and the Chatsworth estate was great for relaxing walks. The little village of Baslow is a short walk where we visited two pubs and thoroughly enjoyed both. Bakewell is close by and we really enjoyed the farmers market that was on. The toilets and showers were very clean and tidy. We really liked all the wildlife on the site and found the ducks very entertaining.

Fantastic As ever!!

Back to caravanning after a 5 year break, and this was our first trip out in our new to us van! The pitches, toilets, showers washing up areas were all immaculate, couldn't have asked for more friendly and helpful wardens, even the ducks and pheasants greeted us.  Brilliant area for walking and will be booking again without doubt!

First timer

First caravan outing ever and decided on Chatsworth. Stayed 25th - 27th January 2015 and not busy - therefore perfect to make my mistakes. Good pitches, attractive site, clean and professionally run. Booked to return later this month. Access is a 1/4 mile single track with small but frequent passing places and this is one of the reasons why the 1pm arrival time is implemented I presume. I left at 1130am and someone had already arrived around 1115am (maybe previous reviewer - nice van with a Kia Sorrento). I was glad I had not left as they arrived, I would not have been impressed meeting another towed unit coming the other way! The 1pm arrival is well advertised and signed but you give people an inch..... great site and would recommend to all. Staff friendly and always seemed busy, no complaints whatsoever. Some pitches may have been a bit tight if the site was busy but I'll save that for next time maybe.

excellent get away

This site is only 1 hour from home, it's so peaceful and spot on for a quiet get away with lots of walking around the grounds of Chatsworth park, we can't wait to revisit this site during the summer. great site and wardens.

Excellent site

Was a bit apprehensive about towing our new twin-axle Bailey through a town centre (Chesterfield) for the first time but it turned out to be a doddle! First entrance gate into site appeared a bit tight - but again OK. Worries over, arrived on site to a warm welcome from the duty warden - found a pitch but we learned a lesson that night - don't pitch underneath a tree when it rains! The 'clatter' of the rain dripping from the tree onto the roof kept us awake all night although the rain itself wasn't that fierce. Facilities were excellent - spotless toilets and showers. Site very quiet during the week - as one would expect in mid-January but filled up with 50 vans / motorhomes at the weekend. Could imagine that in the height of season it could feel a bit cramped and crowded. Access to the estate through a private gate is a bonus and nice walks to be had. Visiting the estate farm shop is a must - outstanding produce at supermarket prices or less. Overall, a most enjoyable week.

A gem of a site

We have just returned from a long awaited weekend at the site at Chatsworth. What a gem of a site no wonder it gets fully booked so soon. The pitches are laid out in a lovely way and you never feel that you are on top of the other campers. The lay out of many little cup de sacs and perimeter road makes it feel well spaced out and not at all cramped also the addition of some new or resurfaced hard standing pitches means that there is more space for visitors. The facilities are as usual in CC sites excellent and are kept clean and warm.  The access to the Chatsworth estate through your own gate makes you feel very special indeed and was a great treat for our daughter who often pretends she's a princess! The two public houses in Baslow are well within walking distance of the site and the food in both is of a good standard. There is an abundance of wildlife literally outside your door from the ducks to the pheasants roaming happily around. Wild birds can be enticed close to your unit by the putting out of bird food for them either on the ground or by hanging fat balls in the nearby bushes and trees. I have waited 4 years to be able to get a free weekend to visit this site but I hope to be able to return to it again very soon. A weekend isn't really long enough to do all the things we wanted to do however I'll take a weekend rather than not go back.  The wardens on site were very friendly and when we needed assistance to get the electrics going both the gentlemen dropped what they were doing and came to help.

Lovely site, BUT

Superb location for walking the peak district. Site rather spoilt by one resident and 2 unruly children wrecking the ladies facilities: Toilet paper pulled out in mountains in cubicles, with toilets stuffed till the toilets blocked. Showers all running with children running between them so that the centre isle was completely flooded. Heaps of clothes full width of the corridors that you had to `climb` over. Management aware , but seemingly little done to control.

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for your review and we’re sorry to hear you felt the site was ruined by another visitor during your stay. The wardens have been in touch as they were not aware of the incident with the showers. If anything like this ever happens again whilst staying on a Club site please report to the wardens so they can investigate at the time.

When the blockages with the toilets were reported to them they fixed straight away and apologise if this affected your enjoyment of the site. We hope this helps assure you that the wardens work hard to try and ensure members have the best time on site and thank you again for taking the time to leave a review.
