Fabulous location

Great for exploring the local area. Superb if you like cycling or waking. Great pubs nearby. Winter caravaning at its best, no light pollution, dicks snd pheasants roam around. Will be back but they are pretty fully booked

Perfect Site!

This is the second time we have stayed at this site and we think its a perfect site! The site is clean and friendly and the wardens are very helpful. The kids love the locked door access into the grounds of Chatsworth Estate and the deer's blow us away every time. The only downside is that it is so popular, availability isn't always great especially over the school holidays, but you cant have it all!!

Excellent as usual

Stayed at this site a number of times and always found it to be to the club's usual high standards with great wardens and a fantastic setting.

Lovely Site

This is our third time to this lovely site. Shower block and toilets are always kept very clean. The wardens are always very friendly and helpful. You are on the doorstep to Chatsworth House and great walks. We have already booked to come back again later in the year!! Laughing

First trip

Just back from our first trip away in our new caravan with the family and we have to say we were very pleased with the facilities, staff, location and general feel of the site. The staff were very helpful and answered my steady stream of questions and came to help when I couldn't make our water pump work!  A day at Chatsworth was perfect for our 3 kids and lots of energy was burned, Bakewell is a great town and perfect for coffee and cake. Our first trip away was great fun despite frozen water pipes and Aqua roll... It's a perfect base for this beautiful part of the country.

WOW

Hi All. I've got to review this CC Site, all the staff are fantastic and really helpful, especially John and Sara, they make you feel really welcome and always go out of their way to help, its a fantastic clean site that is peaceful and relaxing with the benefit of having Chatsworth House within a 10 minute walk, local village is Baslow which is full if quaint pubs and eateries which is also a 10 minute walk though the Chatsworth Estate, its a must to visit this site, if you don't you are just simply missing out.

Another enjoyable visit

We enjoyed another 4 nights in February at this lovely site. Quiet and peaceful at night. Love the ducks and pheasants. Did not need to move the motorhome off site. Enjoyed walking to Bakewell and back via Edensor and a circular walk to Beeley and up to the hunting tower, despite the very muddy conditions. A short stroll to the house to get the bus to Matlock made a pleasant trip out. Good site for numerous walks from site and good choice of bus routes.

Feeding ducks form the caravan window before breakfast - fabulous.

'Bah humbug!' to Miksy the previous reviewer - feeding the ducks was our absolute highlight of the trip. We have a 23mth old and a 4yr old and the delight they took in feeding the ducks from the caravan window was amazing. The pheasants too. Yes, there might be some after effects (although I didn't see any) but the shop sells bags of duck food (50p each), so we can't be the only ones who enjoy this. We arrived at night but were promised we would see some fowl in the morning and boy, did we! 24 ducks and 1 pheasant at one point. All huddled between the car and the aquaroll. Sorry Miksy, might not be to your approval, but this was my favourite caravan moment ever.  The weather was AWFUL. Cold, wet, windy, miserable Don't think it stopped raining for our 40hrs there. Went to the adventure park at Chatsworth and felt we were the only ones - the weather was so hideous. Great adventure playground for the kids there but about £6 each to get into the farm and park and £3 for parking (you might be able to walk from the site but the weather was too hideous). My son ended up in hospital after a fall but all was well in the end.  Didn't feel we really got to know the site, as it was impossible to walk around and enjoy the site and the area, but can say that the shower block was warm and clean and the site very well maintained. Some have said about tight spaces, but we arrived late on a Friday, in the dark and the rain, and I managed to park our 6-berth ferry just fine thanks - without a motor mover.

A very good site.... location, location, location !

Just a couple of days to escape the dreaded February blues. Bad, bad weather - so lots of very muddy areas - but draining overnight so no moans. Parts of the site seem rather cramped but equally choose your pitch carefully and no probs! Staff welcoming after a short wait to book in. Staff also patient and courteous when querying bad electric cable behaviour by fellow site users - it is beyond my understanding why they leave cable around other peoples' cars and vans - incredible. At wall boundary trees look ready for some "dead branch" pruning but site roads and hedges neat. One moan..... please please would everyone stop feeding the ducks... pretty but leaving a disgusting toilet mess behind! Yuk! This site is well run, good for local walking and dining and sight seeing. Many thanks.
