Heaven on your doorstep

This site is one one the most precious for us in the area.It has everything you need for a relaxing or strenuous break, from the idyllic location surrounded by rivers and lovely parks of Chatsworth to the stunning walks that encompass the area. We have stayed at the site on many occasions and try to find different spots on the site each time. The staff are brilliant and the facilities are exactly what the caravan club portrays. Ok we were disrupted last week as work was being carried out on renovated some pitches but this will only enhance the beauty of this site. Walks around this area are magnificent and are for those that like a little trot or this like us who like to try and kill ourselves on the more strenuous ones up in them thar hills. We shall be there again at Easter and looking forward to the experience again as if it was our first time...

Believe the Hype

Lovely site. How special could it be? ... we thought to ourselves. But it is very special. The access to the Chatsworth grounds is fab; we love walking and you can spend many happy hours exploring here. Farm shop is lovely (10% discount at certain times). Facilities on site are as expected; bring table tennis bats and balls as there's an outdoor table undercover on site. We're on a big, easy access pitch, wardens were extremely efficient at moving the queue of vans through at Friday teatime. House opens 19 March, good entry fee discount for Club Site Campers. Have already booked our next trip!

A loveley site but need for super pitch improvement

This is a lovely site in a beautiful location. My only complaint is that having paid over £50 for two nights on a super pitch I felt the standard pitches were better and cleaner. The fronts of the super pitches are grass covered, and in January after a lot of rain this means you are walking around in mud at the front of your van whilst trying to unload stuff from the locker and get set up on pitch. The standard pitches are all gravel and therefore a lot cleaner in this type of weather. Considering the price charged for a super pitch I feel it's time the club spent some money on sorting them out.

Lovely setting...

A lovely peaceful setting for this site deep within the Chatsworth Park. Walking directly out of the back gate into acres of green with the backdrop of Chatsworth House to complete the scene! Free to roam everywhere in the park is a bonus (dogs on leads). Good eating and shopping at the stables at the house even when house is closed. Walk over the bridge to the estate village of Edensor for a lovely (dog friendly) tea room. Another tip is the bus service that runs into the park and stops at the house car park - this is an easier walk than going into Baslow village (which has a shop/pubs/cafe). We walked to Bakewell from the site (via Edensor) - easy couple of hours, got bus back to the house. Great day out. Site is well maintained, interesting layout and sits comfortably within the trees and the old estate walls; a long way from traffic. Access lane is certainly one way only for arrivals/departures - strictly enforced with good reason. Lovely place and a delight out of season.

Winter break at Chatsworth

This is our third or fourth January break and Chatsworth never disappoints. Beautiful clean facilities and very helpful and friendly staff. An excellent way to blow away Christmas, just a pity the snow did not arrive until the day we had to head home. The park and surrounding countryside provide excellent walking and our Australian Cattle Dog really enjoyed herself. Baslow is a nice village and has a good Spar shop and PO. Will be back again soon. lovely quiet site pity about some of the pitches

we love this site however this year it was a bit disappointing the motor homes all need putting on the blue pegs we have a twin axle lunar delta ti and the only pitches that were available when we arrived were the really tight ones (which the warden did say the ones were we parked are always the last to fill up) my partner is a lorry driver therefore use to driving big combinations and had we not had a motor mover we would never have got off pitch 75 apart from the really bad organisation such as letting motor homes park on the big pitches the site is really well run.

Fab Fourth Visit

We love this site, which is only 30 minutes from home!  We stayed over new year and had a lovely stay despite the weather!  I did keep checking for any flood warnings as the Derwent flows alongside the site but nobody seemed concerned and there were no alerts or warnings phew!   The Farm shop is well worth a visit and CC members get 10% discount when you show your card - well worth having!  The steak and stilton slices and chicken breasts stuffed with port and cranberry are delicious! Our kids loved the farm at Chatsworth again and we spent ages in the adventure playground in the rain, we had it to ourselves!   Love Chatsworth and have booked again for New Year!

New Year trip

We love Chatsworth.

Great walks through gate into the park itself & dog friendly pub in Baslow, perfect!

Only downside personally is size of pitches. Its not always easy to get a twin axle onto some of the pitches without a motor mover.

Great start to the new year

Stayed over the New Year and as always, enjoyed every minute. Fantastic walks in stunning scenery and it's easy to see why Chatsworth always tops the rankings for best stately home every year. Spent new years eve in The Duke of Devonshire PH, chatting to other site guests, then called in to enjoy the hospitality provided by the site staff in the reception, where nibbles and wine were on tap, complete with hot chestnut's. Unexpected but a lovely end to a cracking stay. Thanks and Happy New Year to all the staff.

Winter Visit

We stayed at Chatsworth for two nights from New Years Eve. The wardens are friendly, great location - there is access to Chatsworth direct from the site and the house is within 10 mins walk! The facilities are clean and the site well kept. The only draw back is that there is limited space on site and the caravans are packed in very close together. It's not a site where I'd go in summer as there is no space to sit outside and enjoy a BBQ or glass of wine. The children's play area is tiny - but with Chatsworth grounds (and adventure playground!) on the door step this isn't too much of a problem.
