Will return

Very busy when we arrived but managed to find a corner pitch for our motorhome - bit of a 'tour' round the site for water and motorhome service point, but once set up really enjoyed our stay. Check in was usual efficient procedure, but found all wardens very friendly and helpful. Toilet block was very clean with lots of hot water and lovely and warm on a chilly morning. Site is in a great location - hence its popularity. Just a short stroll through a gate in the estate walls and you are walking towards the magnificent Chatsworth House. Didn't go inside the house but did a lovely circular walk taking in beautiful views and finishing with a lovely lunch in the Stables Cafe. Would love to return at a later date and cycle to the Farm Shop and neighbouring villages.

Lovely Chatsworth break

Just back from one of our many Chatsworth's yearly breaks , it's one of our local sites , the others being Buxton & Carsington water . Lovely site , excellent amenities , great walks in the estate parklands , plenty to see & do unfortunately some things need to change. Like all the idiots that continue to arrive before 1pm & park down the single track lane , we arrived on sunday to find one caravan unit blocking the entrance off the main road causing mayhem , apparently one unit arrived at 11.50am & was sent packing. I suppose that's Chatsworth's down fall , it's just so popular but it won't stop us from visiting again . Oh & by the way I booked an awning pitch , but didn't put one up ....... dreadful

Chatsworth in November

We have just returned from 6 nights at Chatsworth. I think since we have been CC members we must have been at least 30 times. I cannot understand some of the negative reviews for this wonderful site. Yes, on busy periods there can be a delay in booking in, but you are on holiday so chill out. We arrived on 4th November and the very friendly warden who met us on the lane told us that they had 75 arrivals on that day, which is about 66% of the site capacity so it would be busy. We however spent no more that 20 minutes waiting to book in which wasn't a problem. If everyone arrives at 1.00 on such a busy day that it is plainly obvious that it will take a little while to book in. All of the wardens were very friendly and helpful. The site entrance road is narrow in places but there are numerous passing places so that is not a problem. Most people who go to the site know about the busy period between 1.00 and 2.00 so plan their days so not to leave the site during this period. Many direct from the site and we only used the car twice during our day. Lovely walks along Curbar and Froggatt edge's and a nice easy five to six mile walk to Bakewell going through Endsor. As for Caravans without awnings on a awning pitch you cannot blame the wardens as when you book you decide whether you want a non awning or awning pitch. On many occasions you have to take what is available especially if making a late booking. Plenty of hot water in showers, etc.We definitely will be back at least once in 2017.

Priviledged location

Ducks and pheasants for company! Layout of site offers interesting and secluded areas. Enclosed Dog walk larger than many.  Stepping through gate in wall seems like another world....into the magnificent parkland where I saw frosty cobwebs and a young Stag crossing the river. Magic! Yes, entrance road is narrow but surely not a problem.  Facilities and Wardens all good.

The Jewel in the Crown or Fools Gold..?..

The location of the site is beautiful with the secret garden door being the highlight, to the wonderful (but expensive) Chatsworth estate.  Well spaced, levelled pitches are throughout...but this is unfortunately where the jewel in the crown, could be interpreted as fools gold..?? Limited availability, single track in and out of the site, Overly strict wardens and poor lighting at night leaves (oh and plenty of leafs) the site without a warm personality that such a location deserves.

VERY Overrated

Booked & Arrived here on Sunday 30th October on basis of late availability showing 17 vacancies early in the week. 13:05 arrival & 14th in queue!! Very poor access, meant several people already on site were like us in for a 35 minute wait to get into the site. When on site no control of newcomers so not finding the right pitch we were 8th further behind on a 2nd circle. Several people without awnings allowed on awning pitches caused more issues!! Granted walking around the site & the estate were brilliant, seeing the deer & the estate. Each day the water pipes froze up making emptying the loo & flushing the waste tank something for post 10 a.m.! With no prior warning before we arrived we found that the play area was closed meaning many kids on half term were left roaming the site racing the wrong way round the site roads! Complaints to the wardens were met with 'this is the CC clubs best site ' but evoked no action! Facilities were clean & well kept.  In over 10 years & >1,000 nights on club sites this was our worst experience. WE WILL NOT RETURN HERE

Stil Good

This is one of our favourite sites and well worth a visit. Friendly staff, clean, tidy, good pitches, easy walking to Chatsworth House or village, what's not to like? My only criticism this time is that the water could have been hotter in the shower block in the morning and the children's play area could still do with some swings etc. We'll definitely be back.

Still the best

Just back from chatsworth, another fantastic visit. The whole site is immaculate and the showers are spotless. Pheasants and ducks walking around the site. You can buy seed to feed them and they take the food out of your hand. Wardens are very polite and are on hand to help with local knowledge.

Always a lovely weekend

Having waited with anticipation for our visit to Chatsworth we were not disappointed. Working in the local area is brilliant and the through the door in the wall gives a quick entry to the grounds. This was made all the more interesting with rutting well underway. With low lying mist in the early evening meant excellent views of these magnificent animals choosing who is who in the order of dominance. The site was not as busy as we thought but all was as normal with condition and support of the staff.
