Friendly & Welcoming Chatsworth House & Caravan Site

We have recently returned from a three night stay at Chatsworth Caravan Site, our second visit. We really can't fault it at all. Located within a 'walled garden' it is in an excellent position for visiting Chatsworth House & Grounds. At this time of year the decorated house is beautiful to see. The Christmas Market is also worth a visit. Being able to use the 'back gate' of the site, visitors have many miles of parkland to walk or cycle. We felt lucky in seeing the deer on this visit, too. Despite wet weather, the toilet & shower block are kept scrupulously clean with plenty of hot water for showers. One of our favourite sites! Thank you wardens, much appreciated.

Really beautiful and Chatsworth House at Christmas is amazing

Chatsworth Estate is lovely. The Christmas decorations in the house are really nice. Everything is well organised. Don't forget to book if you want to visit the house. I have walking difficulties and one of the volunteers went to the other side of the house to get me booked on one of the trolley bus that went around the garden so that when I came out from the house tour I had a booking for the garden tour. He was so friendly and helpful as were all the volunteers that we came across. The trolley tour around the garden was very informative and extremely interesting. The Christmas Market was good too. The Caravan Park have access to the Chatsworth Estate through a gate, for which they provide a key. It was a bit too far for me but is a fairly short walk to the market and avoids paying for parking. There were quite a few birds, e.g. nuthatch as well as all the common varieties. Lots of ducks too. On the estate there are loads of deer. They do come down to the roads at night so take it slow or you might get closer to the deer than you want to.

Wonderful Chatsworth

This is only our second time of visiting this site (only been caravaning 3 yrs ), but we love it, just spent 5 nights here & we can't fault it, this time we loved seeing the deer roaming the estate grounds as before it was in the June time we were there, friends of ours came with us ( this was their first time & I don't think it will be their last as they also loved it too ), on the day of our arrival we were told by a warden that they were expecting 50 vans that day, it was a credit to the wardens on how smoothly checking in was, the added bonus this time was the Xmas market at Chatsworth house & a visit round the house to see the Xmas decorations. Not sure when we will be back but it will be sooner rather than later.

Nice site if you can find it.

Firstly the directions in the hand book are confusing. We only found the site by asking a local aresident for help. When we got there it was chaotic with traffic coming from all directions. I stopped at the designated spot but that brought all vehicles to a stand still so I moved my motorhome further onto the site. When I went into the office, the receptionist asked if I didn't see the sign. I explained why I had moved but she said 'but you entered the site'. It was only when I offered to go out and come back in that she calmed down. ot a good start. We booked a super pitch and that was excellent. Next day whilst visiting Chatsworth House my wife had an accident which meant spending a day at Chesterfield Hospital. Next day we decided to return home. I explained the reasons to the receptionist as to why we were leaving a day early. There was no suggestion of a refund of the balance of the site feewhich I found very disappointing. I have always found the site staff very helpful and the attitude of the Chatsworth staff very disappointing.

Great.....

Wha can one say. A weekend away at a beautiful site, well maintained and fantastic facilities, to top this, there is a gate leading in to the grounds of Chatsworth House, it's a great site with wonderfully cheeky wardens.... this weekend will be our third visit within three weeks. Chatsworth a Christmas Market helps and so too does the farm shop. It's a beautiful siteĀ

1st weekend away in motorhome

Beautiful site good location enjoyed the weekend good walks through the park could of done with some wellies though as it's muddy due to all the rain the night before but can't pick your weather all the time. Toilet block very clean 10 showers in men's no trouble getting one lighting on roads could do with more lighting as lots of places that hold water on the roadways. Staff very polite and helpful even when not on duty no trouble to be interrupted excellent wardens all of themĀ

Wonderful Site

We loved loved loved this site. Fabulous location and given a personal key to access the secret door into the stunning Chatsworth Park. Very efficient wardens and the quickest check in ever. Immaculate and warm washroom. Short walk to Chatsworth House or Baslow village via the park. Visited the Chatsworth Christmas Fair and toured the house - both fabulous. The Devonshire Arms in Baslow is a wonderful dog friendly pub. Will definitely return as soon as possible. Only one small negative - we didn't think that the man collecting the leaves should have been using his noisy equipment during the 2 minute silence on Remembrance Sunday. It seemed rather disrepectful.

Fabulous site

We have just returned from a fabulous weekend at this site. We found the wardens friendly and helpful, the facilities spotless and the location spot on. We had a super pitch, which we preferred the look of to the normal pitches, however, all looked good. The road down was not as bad as we thought and was really easy. The gate to the estate gave us an excellent location which to explore Chatsworth and visit the christmas market being only 15 minutes stroll away. The showers were hot and very clean and plenty of them. Will definitely try to get back on this site in the future. Recommended.
