Charming Chatsworth

We stayed at Chatsworth recently and woke up on the first morning to a hoar frost! Very cold outside but cosy in our Odyssey. The house emerging from the mist with the sun coming through was fantastic and provided some cracking photographs. Chatsworth is a superb site and we always feel privileged to stay so close to such a magnificent house. The staff are helpful and friendly and the site is maintained in tip top condition. We love walking with Monty the cocker spaniel and are spoilt for choice with walks in all directions.  Do visit the Chatsworth Farm shop during your stay and try the lamb steaks-they are quite superb. A must visit site for all discerning tourists.

A lovely stay

We had a lovely 4 days at this site last week. The site is in a lovely spot our of the way and so peaceful. The wardens I have to say are the friendliest we have come across and were calm in the way they dealt with us on arrival. It is a narrow single track road to get to the site and there was quite a queue when we arrived but the wardens were very organised in getting us all booked in :) We visited the house and the Christmas markets which were lovely. The surrounding areas are beautiful. We had a day visiting Bakewell and Edale and then a day in Buxton and surrounding areas - absolutely beautiful. The site is well maintained as all CC sites - no complaints from us.......we will return :)

Chatsworth Nov 2016

Living in Derbyshire we have visited this site on many occasions as it has alot to offer. Walks, cycles & access to the wonderful Chatsworth Estate. The site facilities block are well maintained by the staff. What is needing maintenance is the ground. The site is susceptible to flooding. Allot of the pitches are becoming uneven & also retain water. Major ground works would be needed to alleviate this. But minor work could be done with many barrow fulls of stone chipping. For example the access gate to the dog walk floods at the opening point. If this was addressed the site would be back to its past best.

Tranquil and Beautuful site

Just back from 4 days at Chatsworth for the Christmas Market. Very warm welcome from the site Managers. Beautiful location within a walled area about 600 yards from Chatsworth House. Due to heavy rain two days before the site was quite boggy but dried out over the next few days. Facilities were extremely well kept and well appointed.  Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We ate at the Devonshire Arms in Baslow about 1 mike from the site back down the entrance road and turn right for 300-400 metres. Took 15 minutes to walk. It is dog friendly and both the food and beer were excellent. High recommended and dog friendly. We walked to the Chatsworth Farm Shop via Chatsworth House turning right over the bridge to Ensor and then through the village and up over the hills on a footpath turn right at the top and along a minor road for 1000 metres to the Fatm Shop. About 2.5 miles. Dogs were off lead but watch out for sheep behind walls and gates. There is a quicker way by going straight on at Ensor on the road which has a narrow pavement. We arte at the Devonshire Arms another pub of the same name in Pilsey. Again excellent food and dog friendly. The Farm Shop is a must with superb food with a huge variety. You will not be disappointed by a little pricey but e cel lent quality. We will come back perhaps in the Summer.

Beautiful site

We have just spent 2 nights at this beautiful site. We arrived on Tuesday, the day after much of the country was deluged by a storm. Derbyshire had not escaped. That said ,we were met by some of the friendliest staff on any of the sites we have been on. They were friendly , welcoming and cheerful and had obviously worked extremely hard to clean up the site after the rain and the facilities were spotless.  How refreshing to be trusted to park according to regulations, on too many sites staff stand  nearby to check it is done properly. Well done everyone , you made our visit a pleasure from start to finish The site is only a 15 min easy walk into the Chatsworth estate where we attended the amazing Christmas markets. If you haven't visited this site , put it on your list. So much to see and do even if you don't move MH off  or just stay on site and enjoy the  peace and quiet. Thank you to all staff , truly a job well done!

Visiting Chatsworth House Christmas Fair

We were very pleased to stay at this immaculate and well organised site. The reception, shop and staff were exemplary and the toilet and shower block were warm, spotless and never full. It was a short if muddy walk to Baslow with pleasant amenities and a similar short walk to the main attraction - Chatsworth House. The only thing beyond anyone's control was the soaking we got at the Fair last week.

Wonderful location

We've had several holidays here over the years and have loved the location. It is simply wonderful to be able to walk out in Chatsworth parkland and had a great walk, almost to Bakewell, and then back through Edensor. The Chatsworth Christmas market was very good, as was the house and gardens. We also had a walk on the Monsal Trail, through the tunnels. The wardens were particularly welcoming and all facilities were of a high standard and perfectly clean. My only criticism would be how dark many of the pitches are now that all the trees have grown and developed. We were at the site the year it opened and when all the landscaping was new and the trees were small, the site was very open and light. However, it didn't detract from our 4 nights this time as you didn't want to sit out! It would do in summer perhaps.

Great site

This is an excellent location. Walking distance to Baslow and gate into Chatsworth estate. Worth going when the Christmas market is on. My only concern is that there could be some lighting at the back gate.
