A lovely site, situated in a well sheltered walled garden, with private foot access directly into Chatsworth Park. A great welcome from the efficient and friendly staff who kept the small queue -which was already forming at ten past one- moving and quickly had us on the pitch of our choice. Everything is well laid out and maintained to the highest standards, with plenty of space between pitches. The site is little more than a 10 minute walk from Catsworth House and 15-20 mins from the village of Baslow, we enjoyed a 6 mile walk direct from the site, which afforded beautiful views of the estate and surrounding country. Everything you could want for a weekend or longer. Five stars!
We could see why the club insist on there being no entries before 1300, the access lane is really not suitable for oncoming vehicles to pass each other and flaunting the rule is really inconsiderate.
First Weekend of the Year
Arrived on a very cold Friday afternoon to find several caravans waiting at the end of the road for the 1pm deadline. However, the backlog on the road was a traffic hazard so we decided to risk the wrath of the wardens and drive in early. From the main road to the site entrance is about 1/2 mile and for the life of me I don't understand why we are asked to wait out at the main road and cause a traffic hazard. Anyway having arrived at the reception 15minutes early we waited quietly in the car waiting for the dreaded hour. After a few minutes a very friendly warden arrived at my window and politely reminded me we had arrived early - no doubt you have all heard this before! However, after I mentioned about the traffic everything was fine and we were invited to sign in ten minutes early.
The site is quite spacious and as you would expect everything was spick and span, clean and tidy. The wardens were all very friendly and helpful and overall we had a nice first weekend away of he year.
Obviously, there is plenty to do nearby, Chatsworth, Buxton, Bakewell, etc. etc.
Being winter all the trees were bear and it will be nice to visit again when the trees are all in leaf. Another joy was all the wildlife, ducks, pheasants, squirrels, etc. Bird food was on sale at the reception and we thoroughly enjoyed parting with a few quid to give them a winter meal.
Will we be back? Sure will and we're already looking forward to it.
Very welcoming
We arrived after dark on a very cold Friday evening to the warmest of welcomes and a very efficient booking in service. We had booked the only 'pitch type' that was free that weekend and so enjoyed the luxury of a fully serviced pitch. Not something I would normally have booked but I am now a convert and so will be booking one again in the future! The site was quiet with clean and warm facilities. Plenty of hot water for showers and washing up. It was great to see the site so busy on a January weekend. The key to Chatsworth Park, directly from the site gave great access to good walking and the house. We were out quite early and saw herds of deer that disappeared later in the day when the park became busy with walkers. There is an artisan art fair at Chatsworth at the moment and it was well worth looking at.
Blown away
Stayed for a week when we had the gale force winds. The site is relatively sheltered by trees, but some outfits still had problems with their awnings. We don't use the awning in mid winter, but I know people with dogs like to use them. You take a chance I suppose. It seemed to be the ones with air awnings that had the most problems.
The site is well laid out but the entrance outside reception is very narrow. We arrived at 2 mins past 1pm and there was already a long queue outside reception, so they must have ignored the 1pm rule. Going out one day we came across an outfit parked around the mini roundabout at the entry just off the main road, it was 1245pm. They were blocking the road for anyone without a van to get past. There are clear signs not to park there, so why do people ignore them. The rules are there for the benefit of everyone.
We arrived on a Tuesday and the site was very quiet, on the Friday the site became almost full, so many people are getting away for weekends. The staff are most friendly and the toilets and showers are lovely and clean. With lots of trees around the site, leaves on the ground are inevitable, but the wardens worked had to tidy up. This was our first trip to Chatsworth, but will come again.
Newbie to Chatsworth
Arrived Friday 13th January to a warm welcome and smooth check in. A well kept site with an immaculately clean and warm toilet / shower block. TV reception and wifi excellent. Once given the key to the secret gate we had access to walks towards Chatsworth House & the village of Baslow. The adjacent dog walk was enjoyed by our Cocker Spaniel. Yet again a friendly welcome from Keith and Tracey. This was our first visit to Chatsworth but will not be our last.
New Year break
Managed to get a last minute booking for 3 nights over New Year for our first stay at the Chatsworth site. Followed sat nav however it tried to take me down to Chatsworth House (sat nav pre programmed with all caravan club sites?), however I missed the turn and saw the correct one further down the road. Booked into the site but had to do two circuits I order to find a pitch which wasn't a problem as it gave me and idea of the site. Pitched on site 67, just left of the main gate and was expecting it to be noisey but it was completely the opposite, as was the whole site. Put my awning up but struggled to hammer in my steel, pegs with my usual rubber mallet, would certainly recommend taking a metal hammer. Lovely dog walks around Chatsworth Park accessible via the site side gate, however the site could benefit from a specific doggy wash down point, all be it I used the service point and a bucket, but was conscious of making a mess. Toilets and showers were spotless and there was plenty of hot water. Staff were great and laid on drinks and nibbles on New Year's Eve. Dog friendly pubs within easy walking distance as is the local shop. Will certainly go back.
FRIENDLY HELPFUL STAFF
A very clean site in all of the facilities lovely location will definitely visit again

GREAT TIME AWAY
We decided to visit over Christmas been before so
Did know this time not to follow directions for Chatsworth. If only site could put sign on roundabout before site it would save a lot of errors also the caravan club sat nav appproch wrong also sends you pasted entrance not sure why
Anyway site organisation by wardens on checking in
Brilliant and friendly. Site clean and tidy. Good atmosphere units dressed up for Christmas.
We attended the reception invitation for nibbles
And wine well attended and very welcome treat
By wardens . A must is the walk though chatsworth to Baslow if you have dogs then Devonshire ARms friendly and good atmosphere
Small village shop up hill has everything
The secret gate is a bonus where can you have this beautiful entrance to the best stately home in England. Although you pay in the site fees it's a bit pricey I thought and discussed with others on site all seem to agree.
That said would return just great location, wardens, facilities and location
Christmas at chatsworth
We have just returned from a 5 night stay at a much improved chatsworth, we were there in November and it was looking very neglected, but with a change of wardens it looks like they are brining back to the premier site it used to be !!! The wardens put on a drink and nibbles on Christmas Eve which we thought was a nice touch , so thank you Helen and Pete ,Michelle and Angus and a very happy new year to you all xx

Charming Chatsworth
Second trip here....again in December. Weather obviously changeable so you dress for the season. The Facilities are usual CC standards and the Wifi was good (much better than Castleton) 4G was easy on mobile devices of course. As has been said, pity the discount for the house is now not available but not the end of the world of course. The site was busy while we were there(mid week) as we couldn't get in at the weekends in the month but never mind. Only one gripe.....and it extends to ALL CC sites I have been on this year....... SPEED... drivers please SLOW down...there are plenty of pitches for all
