Great stay at Chatsworth

Second stay at Chatsworth first stay was our first time caravaning, staff are very helpful site is amazing if you are like us and you like walking. Took the camera with big lense for getting shots of the rutting dear, we had great weather we did a short walk on the Friday 6 miles and longer one on Saturday 14 miles we needed the hot shower and the wine. As I said this is our first year so next year we will try and book more often at Chatsworth, keep up the great work and thank you all at Chatsworth.

One of the best

Visited recently for the third time and it is difficult to add to all the positive comments already made in other review. However it is a great site and the wardens make it even better, always on hand and very friendly and informative giving great local knowledge about where what and when. The facilities are immaculately kept with the shower block being one of the best we have come across. The only reason we have marked down the peace and quiet section is that there is a lot of wildlife around that sometimes can be a little noisy but for us this is part of the attraction of the site you can get up close and personal with some of it! Highly recommended

Wonderful staff

I had a wonderful welcome when I arrived at five in the evening. The choice of pitch was limited, but I was recommended to select a new pitch the following morning which I did. The staff helped me to park the Motorhome and level it. I was given advice on where to park on a visit to Bakewell. Every time I encountered the staff they were cheerful and helpful. For me it was just nice walking distance to the house for a coffee stop and in the other direction just a nice walk into Baslow. Watching the deer was like having my own ‘Autumnwatch’ I will be back again.

Wonderful Autumn Break

Wonderful site, surrounded by nature - including the rutting red deer at this time of the year. They are noisy, but didn't bother me at all - it was just fantastic to be so close to them and appreciate the surroundings. The Chatsworth estate is just beautiful and being right in the middle of makes the site such a good location. Lovely walks from the site. Staff very friendly and organised, site and facilities spotless. Perfect!

Loved it

Our fist time to Chatsworth Park site. Arrived about 2pm. We had no problems booking in . Staff very helpful and informative. We parked opposite the children’s play area.( not many awning pitches left) .but not many children there our stay. It was lovely having a key to get straight into Chatsworth Park. The toilet block was immaculate , showers hot /two hairdryers. Bread/ milk/ cakes/ essentials all sold in the shop. It took us about 15 minutes to walk into Baslow village where there are 2 pubs plus a spar shop.(up the hill). There is a good bus service from the village green, although we did’nt use it. Again a 15 minute walk from the site to Chatsworth house. Although the Park is free to walk in/round , you do have to pay to get into Chatsworth gardens,( £12.90 each ,but worth every penny) . The house was £21 each. We missed the house this trip as we have been in the past. All in all , a lovely trip and hope to go again next summer.

Top site.

We visit Chatsworth every year, its a great base from which to visit the local area. The wardens are great too, putting up with a lot of flack from members who arrive too early and expect to be allowed in early. When members book Chatsworth, they are reminded not to arrive before 1300 hours, as they'll not be allowed in. So why be rude to the wardens who are only doing their job to the best of their ability. Rules are in place to ensure everyone's safety! The site is always well maintained and clean. Members could help by cleaning up after themselves, and reporting any concerns to the wardens, who are there to help.

Check-in a nightmare and needs rethinking before tempers fly and somebody has an accident!

Oh dear, we've loved this site for many, many years but, like other reviewers, it's going backwards! Chain across the entrance - what next, razor wire and a 8ft fence? Has the club tried parking an 8.5 metre 4.5 ton Motorhome anywhere in Baslow for half an hour ? No, obviously not. 1 o,clock is not unreasonable, but you have enough wide verges down the driveway to create a proper waiting area, rather than the 'gulag' experience we had checking in on a Sunday. Not only that, I was directed and waved up to the stop sign so my vehicle length could be checked. I've been a member for 45 years, owned my current Motorhome for 11 years, and know exactly how long it is. Talk about 'Jobsworth'. Finally, the ground being very wet due to heavy rain, the grass strips between many of the pitches were very muddy immediately next to roadway. This mud was mainly caused by the resident ducks digging away with their beaks filtering for worms. Rather than solve the problem all the wardens did was to put bollards right on the end of the mud areas making it impossible for most people to drive their car onto the pitch - easy solution - put a bit more hard standing next to the roadway! In all other respects the wardens were very helpful.

Access Problems

Off at 12 and on at 1pm fair enough because of the lane leading to the site but the latest is a chain has been placed across the road until 1pm, but this has caused a problem today as cars/caravans were unable to turn around and following caravans/motorhomes were blocking the main road, a hazard if ever there was one.
