Lovely first visit

Lovely site, brilliant wardens sorting out a 3rd night for us over the phone, no problem getting onto the site, we arrived about 3pm...no queue perfect. I don't understand everyone arriving the minute the arrival time is allowed and then moan about the queue, it's obvious that is going to be the case. We had a lovely corner pitch, easy access to the Christmas Market, and nice walk into Baslow the next day with the dogs for lunch.

Chatsworth Christmas Market

Arrived on Sunday 19th November along with approximately 70 other members all arriving on the same day. We arrived on the lane at 1.20 and there were numerous other outfits all waiting to check in. The warden on duty was very courteous and polite and was allowing tranches of vans to approach the office so as not to cause a bottleneck in the courtyard. We had a good choice of pitches and despite the number of outfits arriving all at once we still were pitched up and had the kettle on by 2.00 p.m. When you book into Chatsworth you know that there is a significant turnover of units arriving at 1.00 p.m, especially on a Sunday so why do some members moan about having to take a little longer to book in that maybe at other sites. Just enjoy the scenery out of the car window and relax. The wardens do an excellent job !!. The faculties on site were excellent and always clean and surprisingly not too busy. The easy walk through the gate to the Christmas market is a bonus and seeing the deer grazing early evening is wonderful. We have been coming to Chatsworth for the past 30 years and hope to do so many more times in the future. This is one of our top sites.

The entry /exit arrangements spoil an otherwise great place

We only live 40 minutes away in Sheffield and come here by car regularly to walk in the parkland. We decided that as we havnt brought our caravan here for 10 years, and 20 years before that, that we would finish `our` season here before winterizing the van. Nothing has changed in all that time - lovely clean site and brilliant facilities, very helpful and friendly staff. BUT the same performance to get on the site after the 1 o`clock mad dash, caused by the ridiculously narrow long roadway permitting only single track working, and the queue of 12 or more vans that had miraculacly formed before openning the road up. Took an hour to get on a pitch then to get sorted and most of the day gone. Cant the Chatsworth Park people be persuaded to widen the road and sort the problem out. They cant be short of money to help pay for it surely, and it would help the club staff spread the workload . Shame really as it has put us off wanting to bring the caravan again - the reason we havnt been for a long time in the first place.

Perfect apart from one fault

First time visit after 23 years and very impressed Wardens great , site brilliant, surrounding countryside awesome. Better than expected for dogs providing use of common sense when near deer herds etc. Only 1 fault, site roads tend to hold too much water even in light rain , possibly due to no drainage grids?

Another brilliant stay.

Come here for the Christmas market every year, and what a suprise we got this year, the site is looking amazing how hard these wardens have worked. The courtyard looks so nice all newly painted reception area, then you go to the block and thats all repainted, would have like to have seen the flower display s this was apparently a sight to see. As always the facilities are kept to the highest standard even with everyones muddy boots, wardens we thank you.... But on the down side when will members get it in to their heads it is 1pm arrival time for a reason and it applies to us all.

A beautifully kept site

We try and stay at this site every year - it’s location is second to none. We’re walkers and there are so many lovely walks to be done both from the site and within a few miles. The past two or three years we’ve visited, the site, whilst up to a certain standard, has been looking unloved and tired. This year it looks absolutely stunning - tidied up, repainted, spotless facilities, new planters - I’ve never seen it looking so good. The wardens have worked really hard and it shows - it’s a credit to all the team.

Perfect location

We stayed for 2 nights on our most recent stay during November. We've been coming to the site for a number of years and we never tire of it. We cannot fault the staff, they are helpful and informative, the facilities are always spotlessly clean. The location has to be one of the best in the network. You can do such a range of things depending on the weather. There are so many walks in the grounds, to suit all ages and abilities. Then there's the house and gardens, nearby villages of Beeley, Edensor and Baslow and not forgetting the farm shop at Pilsley. It really is a case of park the car, walk and chill out.

Absolute gem!

Superb location, surrounded by beautiful, accessible countryside. Site and facilities are immaculate. Staff were extremely helpful, friendly, informative and most welcoming. The key to the gate giving access directly into Chatsworth Park, was the value added! This was our first visit but safe to say we will be back. I would most certainly recommend a visit to this site. Many thanks to the staff for making our visit outstanding

A bit disappointed

We stayed on the site for 3 nights in November 2017, our first visit. The site is in a beautiful location on the Chatsworth estate. The site is well run, with friendly staff and all the facilities are clean and well kept. However there are some drawbacks, the access problems due to the narrow entrance road means that you can't enter the site before 1 pm and even then there may be large queues to check in. This also affects residents who can find it hard to enter and exit at midday and means you can only leave the estate via the path into the estate. The entrance to the estate from the site is convenient for walking but once on the estate we found the paths very muddy in places and there was considerable traffic due to the Christmas fair being set up. It was far from peaceful. The site has many trees that in November seem to blot out the sun, leaving only a few pitches with a sunny aspect. There is a nice walk from the site to Baslow and several pubs there. I imagine the site is fine in the summer when the estate is not so muddy and a quieter experience.
