Access Problems

Off at 12 and on at 1pm fair enough because of the lane leading to the site but the latest is a chain has been placed across the road until 1pm, but this has caused a problem today as cars/caravans were unable to turn around and following caravans/motorhomes were blocking the main road, a hazard if ever there was one.

Our favorite CMC site

We love Chatsworth and return as often as we can. The onsite staff are lovely, kind and helpful. The site is superb, it is kept in perfect condition. It is a mature site and so feels more holiday than some other newer ones we have stayed at. The facilities are first class. The shop has a bit of all you need, even duck food! The dog walk is perfect, enclosed, well kept and within easy distance of all pitches We go into Chatsworth and then either travel left in to Baslow or right in to Chatsworth. The aerial reception isn't great so we use a plug in aerial cable. The only thing I could suggest is some tree pruning as the site can be quite overhung with branches which blocks out the sunshine in summer and causes the birds to mess on the vans. But overall our favorite site for great times and creating wonderful memories

Shaded site.

Stopped at Chatsworth for one week. The wardens were great working hard to keep the site clean and tidy. It is a marvellous location as you can access the grounds of Chatsworth through a gate on the site. However quite a bit of the site is very shady . On our last stay some years ago ( 4 years ago) it was more open and bright. The dishwashing facilities could do with an update. The house is well worth a visit as the exhibition has been changed recently. The farm shop is very expensive and many of the fruit and vegetables were without dates. That said the meat and cooked meats/ game pie was excellent. There are lots of great places to visit in the locality- the Monsal trail, Bakewell and lots of lovely walks in the nearby villages too.

Great site, excellent wardens and a lovely break

We have just had a lovely few days at Chatsworth, despite the dodgy weather. I just have a couple of comments on earlier reviews and support kipster. Some refer to the lack of space for the pitches and between the pitches. It says in the handbook that there are 120 pitches over 6.5 acres so, yes, it is a little tight and pitching up can be a challenge, but we have been told, so why the surprise? There is also a negative comment for the wardens. We found the wardens to be genuinely friendly and helpful and some of the best that we have met. Given that this has to be one of the busiest sites with respect to short-stay visitors and challenging changeovers I have to give them top marks.

One for the wardens

Plenty of the reviews make comment ref the excellent location and the standard of the facilities, and yes some pitches are more tight than others for space but that's the pay off for the character which abounds, so my review is not going to go over this again but instead will be a shout out to the wardens. We've just spent 2 weeks at Chatsworth and thoroughly enjoyed very minute. And a big part of this is down to the wardens. This is a busy site with arrivals and departures a plenty every day due to its popularity, but the wardens manage the arrivals and departures alongside the residents traffic efficiently and with good humour. There are very good reasons why entry before 1300 is not allowed which some members would do well to remember. The facilities are kept to the usual high club standards despite the state some members leave toilets etc in. And throughout all of this the wardens are friendly, chatty and always ready with a smile. When we left today and passed on our thanks as we handed in our gate keys, the warden mentioned that they don't get many thanks. So here's one for you all. Thanks a lot!

MID WEEK STAY

Stayed at Chatsworth club site with my wife, Amanda and our dog Oscar. We had a great time, plenty of walks into Edensor, Beeley and Bakewell, not forgetting Baslow where we had a very nice meal at the Devonshire Arms. The wardens were very helpful, friendly and assisted us when needed. The site itself was well looked after the facilities kept very clean and were of a high standard. Chatsworth house grounds are accessible through a gate, the key for which is supplied by the wardens, this opened up a very large area for walking Oscar. The wildlife, we saw included ducks, pheasants, thousands of sheep, red deer and fallow deer. All in all a fabulous 4 night stay, can t wait to book and return. I would definitely recommend this site.

Nice site, good for visiting Chatsworth and surrounding area

Spent a pleasant 4 nights here whilst visiting the House and gardens. It is the usual regimented CMC site and some pitches are a little tight for space but that was ok for our short stay. Also as mentioned elsewhere in the reviews the crows ARE very noisy early in the morning (as are the sheep in the adjacent fields). If you are a light sleeper take your earplugs! Site facilities are excellent and very clean, wardens friendly and some nice gentle walks into Baslow, Edensor and along the river Derwent as well as Chatsworth House and grounds of course. Whatever you do, don't miss a visit to the Chatsworth farm shop whilst you are there - Waitrose X 10!!! Will definitely visit again (if we can get in!!)

A Great Week at Chatsworth

Just returned from a great week at Chatsworth, we don't seem to do club sites very often but when we do we know that the sites will be of a high standard and Chatsworth is no exception. Yes there are quite a lot of pitches close together but we enjoyed the company of all our neighbours! It is busy at arrival time but the wardens have it well organised and with great humour too! The site and toilet block spotlessly clean and tidy. We made good use of the access to the park and house, great to see the deer all come down off the hillside just before dusk. The dog wash was also particularly useful for us. The village of Baslow a short walk away offers 2 good pubs for food and dog friendly, can highly recommend the Italian Restaurant Il Lupo. Will return again one day.

Newbie to caravaning.

We have been looking forward to visiting this site, great staff made us feel welcome when I told them it was our first time caravaning they offered help straight away if we needed it. Toilet block very clean and the site well laid out we arrived at 13:30 Friday plenty of pitches to choose from access to Chatsworth Park great if you fancy a walk. The only problem is we couldn't book again this year as it's booked up but if you are looking for a great location and base for a weekend or a weeks holiday you won't be disappointed.

A spoilt weekend due to wardens

Our weekend was spoilt by the general attitude of certain wardens, who failed to demonstrate common sense, and the right attitude towards there customers. We were frequent visitors to this site, but will no longer visit this site until attitudes change.
