Yet another brilliant stay at Chatsworth

We have just returned from a lovely 10day stay at Chatsworth it is one of our favourite caravan parks. The key to the gate that let's you straight into the park all of which you are able to wander through at your leisure. As usual all the site staff were brilliant and very friendly, always busy but never to busy to have a quick chat with us. We have just completed Twenty years membership with the club and this break was a brilliant way to complete the twentieth year at one of our favourite sites We have booked again for next year but had to go into October as September is already booked but never mind. Our Favourite Site of 2020

How lucky we were to be able to book three nights on this very popular site at relatively short notice. This may well be our final caravan trip of the year and, if so, we definitely ended the year on a high. There was a warm, welcoming atmosphere on site - courtesy of the wardens and the landscaping. We were one of the last to arrive (around 14.30) and, unfortunately, had no choice other than to park in a spot that was permanently shaded by trees whose autumn droppings made for the odd scary noise at night. But, despite this, we had a wonderful time with local walks, a visit to the fabulous Chatsworth House gardens and a trip to the lovely town of Bakewell. Using the private access gate to the Chatsworth estate (via a key given out on arrival) was like stepping into Narnia, as the countryside opened up before us. The Covid-19 precautions were well-managed in all respects and the shower and toilet facilities were spotless. This is the first time we have both agreed we'd definitely return to a site - now the challenge is to find availability in Chatsworth Park's 2021 calendar!

Best club site we’ve ever stayed at

Super friendly and helpful staff. Fresh bread, cakes and cream teas available every day. The site is flat with no road noise, situated just behind the walled grounds of Chatsworth House which is an easy 15 mins stroll away. It is not an adults only site but there were very few children there when we visited so it was lovely and peaceful. Resident ducks and pheasants with sheep and deer occupying the nearby fields. Nice walk into the village of Baslow. Will return again and do the 4.5 mile walk to Bakewell next time.

Fantastic site, fantastic wardens but....

We are fortunate to have enjoyed visiting this gem of a site on a number of occasions and it never disappoints with a location ideal to enjoy varied walks with our energetic spaniel. This last trip was our first post-lockdown outing but was still as enjoyable as ever, in part due to the fantastic warden team who were outstanding in their efforts to ensure everyone enjoyed their stay whilst remaining safe in this current C19 world. So what is the “but”? Frankly the actions of some members who are in danger of spoiling it for the majority by their refusal to accept that rules and requests do not apply to them. The site has a narrow entrance lane with access shared with other local amenity users. Please don’t arrive before 1300 we are asked. Please don’t wait if you do arrive early the signs repeatedly say. So what happens almost daily - yep 2 or sometimes 3 outfits are sat from 1230 blocking the entrance to the other local users and on a couple of occasions, causing an issue on the main road itself. No pitches are that awful on this lovely site to warrant ignoring such clear requests but clearly some people think the rules don’t apply to them. Part of the magic of this site is the key to the gate in the wall giving access directly into the park 24 hrs a day. 2 clear signs on the gate request that all dogs are kept on a lead in the park. So what do we see on at least 2 separate occasions, yep, 2 other site residents with their dogs off running loose, even with the sheep grazing nearby. Our spaniel would’ve loved to hurtle around the vast green space but we are requested not to so he had to content himself with pulling my arm off on his extender lead. But the rules didn’t apply to these other members clearly. How long do you think the estate will allow this fantastic access to the park from the site if we all just ignored very reasonable requests? And don’t even start me on the number of people who won’t pick up after their dogs in the dog run - that’s just getting to frequent an occurrence everywhere, someone else’s responsibility clearly. The club and site do need to be congratulated on getting the sites back open in these strange times. The band system largely worked well and queuing outside is a small price to pay to have our sites back available. But there were still a number of people who didn’t apparently see the need to follow the very well explained system, or were just too focused on themselves and not others to care whether they put their band on the hook or more often forgot to pick it up again causing unnecessary delays. The chap who felt his phone call was the priority over his shower, but who unfortunately didn’t come to this conclusion until he was already in the block leaving others to queue outside in the rain whilst he took up space inside the block on his call, is another case in point. Come on peeps. Let’s stop this these selfish actions that enable us all to continue enjoying our site stays for as long as possible.

July visit.... Wonderful

We visited just after the reopening and were very impressed with the staff and safety arrangements.... marvelous wardens providing exceptional facilities and services. Our only concern were the numbers of dogs on the site with many members having multiple dogs which were often not on leads..... Something the CMC should look at.

At Last

We have wanted to visit this site for a long time. We booked this weekend visit last year to be certain of a pitch and was very pleased restrictions were lifted so we could. All I will say is we were not dissapointed. Almost in the grounds of Chatsworth, just a door to go through which you are given a key for. An evening stroll through the park, after the visitors have left, was very pleasant. Herds of deer roam the park. The house had only just reopened so we decided not to visit that, but we have booked again for next year so that we can. The facilities were very nice and although restricted because of Covid the 2 unisex toilets on the side meant that you were not kept waiting for people who were showering. The village of Baslow is only a short walk away. We visited the Wheatsheaf in Baslow and they had lots of outdoor seating and good covid precautions that we visited 2 more times. Lots of walks in the area, the ridge walk was very scenic. This is going to become one of our regular trips from now on.

August break 2020

We made our first visit in Aug 2020 and have to say what a lovely setting. All wardens were helpful and friendly. The facilities were spotless. the site is extremely beautiful with lovely baskets. Excellent position for a variety of walks with the shortest to Baslow village! We will certainly return. Thank you.

Fantastic site, super friendly wardens

This site is a gem, it seems to attract mostly friendly campers. The wardens were fantastic, so friendly and helpful. Dropped on for the hottest week of the summer, sitting out until well past 10pm. So many walks from the site, hardly used our car, so ideal for motorhomes. The Co op in Baslow is a new addition since we last visited. This was our 3rd visit, we will definitely be returning.
