Another excellent visit

One of our nearest sites and, although only 20 miles from home, we take the caravan as often as we can and have just spent nine nights here. The wardens are so friendly and have upped their game. Brightened up the outside of the office with coloured lights. There is now on site pizza van twice a week and a fish and chip van once a week (yes we tried them both and excellent). The revised check in is much speedier so less of a long queue on the access road which was a pain and the source of much discontent in the past. They now take your name, give you a map, tell you to find a pitch then go back to the office to pay once you've done that. I had advocated this a few years ago and it really cuts down the queue. They're much more laid back than the previous wardens with a number of pitches having more than one vehicle on them as most pitches have plenty of room for this. Only thing missing - they once were able to order newspapers but this stopped and I'd like to see it introduced again but it won't stop us going and we already have lots of visits booked for 2022!

Favourite local site

We love this site & are on our 5th visit! Friendly wardens, clean site, beautiful location. The gate through to Chatsworth is brilliant, there's lots of walks on the doorstep with pubs & cafe's on the way. We can't wait for our next visit Thank you

There's Great, Good and Querky!!

Fabulous location, friendly wardens, immaculate facilities, best stocked shop ever and level pitches what more could you ask for? I can see why this site is so popular. The local wildlife made for an interesting 2 weeks in October, the deer rut was in full flow and the sound of the rutting stags could be heard 24/7, the ducks of which there are loads and appear to be resident are quacking rather like laughing hyenas and the local population of crows or rooks (couldn’t decide which) roost very nearby, squabbling over the best branch to perch on and then calling every morning as soon as day breaks. They must also spend a great deal of time in the site trees because our awning, car and van were covered in mess. Combined with the constant turnaround of caravans and motorhomes I cannot honestly say that I found it a peaceful site but it was never dull! The site is all hard-standings with not a lot of green areas. There are a lot of overhanging trees which is great if you want shade in hot weather but not so good when it’s raining and the constant drip, drip is like torture. I suppose it depends on the time of year, but when we were there the leaves were still on the trees, the days were getting shorter and there was not a lot of autumn sunshine so it was a bit on the dark side. I would imagine that this site is completely different depending on the time of year that you visit. Most importantly be aware that you cannot gain access to the site before 1pm as they put a chain across the entrance and there is nowhere to wait so take heed and do not arrive before time. (I wondered why they told you the location of lay-bys nearby – now I know). This also means that leaving the site between 12.50 and 2pm is impossible as there is a never-ending stream of incoming traffic. Sunday is apparently one of their busiest days with up to 80 units coming and going. They are obviously used to the high turn around and are very efficient at getting you to find your pitch prior to returning to the office to do the paperwork and get your gate key for the ‘secret gate’ into the park. Having said all that YES we will definitely return it is a lovely part of the country, and there is still a lot more to explore and I am now a convert to Bakewell Pudding!

A hidden gem

Lovely and peaceful site set within the beautiful grounds of the Chatsworth Estate (definitely not Shameless!) Pitches are level and well-ordered, staff are pleasant and helpful. Will definitely return.

Brilliant site

First time at Chatsworth CAMC site. It's a peaceful well-ordered site with great access to the Park and plenty of walks from the site. Facilities are very good, the staff, as always on CAMC sites, were friendly and helpful. We came for an event at Chatsworth Gardens but stayed an additional night to go round the Gardens again. We will certainly be back next year for the same event.

Our second visit

Another wonderful stay. Didn't disappoint us the second time. The weather turned out better than expected. A very friendly welcome from the female warden that met us at the barrier. Well kept grounds and clean facilities. Would have to say on our next visit is to pitch up first, to get 10% off the Chatsworth farm shop and cafe with our receipt. Can't fault the staff or the site. Can't wait to return.

Great site

This was our first stay at Chatsworth site and we were impressed. Met by really friendly wardens and given all the relevant information for check in. Pitches are a good size although some have trees overhanging the pitches impacting on the light. Facilities spotless and always plenty of availability. The shop was well stocked and lots of local produce. Got to try the Bakewell tarts. Pizza van twice a week and fish and chip van a nice touch. The key to Chatsworth estate was a bonus. Always somewhere to walk to. Chatsworth house and gardens is a must. The wardens were all friendly and took time out to chat to us. Great site and we have booked again for next year.

Superb site

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Wardens are super friendly and helpful. The shop is the best stocked shop we’ve ever known on CAMC sites. Spotless facilities. Toilets available when main ones are being cleaned. Immaculate site. Gate through to the stunning Chatsworth house and gardens, walkers paradise. Beautiful Bakewell in easy reach by car but we did a lovely scenic walk there which was 5 miles each way. Pizza van Thursday and Sunday definitely worth a try. We had a fabulous time and will be back. Can totally see why this site is booked up a year in advance. Just one thing to mention - we originally tried to get a super pitch but they were full. Upon arrival we were glad we hadn’t. The super pitches are very shaded by a big wall and lots of trees and get very little sun. So if you like the sun don’t book a super pitch!

How sites should be

Great site. Check in efficient and speedy avoiding the queues experienced at other sites - why don't all sites work this way? Great shop with local produce. Great friendly team. Plus access to the Chatsworth estate and all it has to offer. A great site and an enjoyable stay.
