Lovely site

Chatsworth is a lovely site & ideally situated for Chatsworth House itself & the many varied walks in the area. The ‘secret’ door into Chatsworth grounds is also really appealing. The wardens are always happy to help, they are friendly & the site & facilities are well maintained & spotless. Within the reception is a fairly well stocked shop which is very useful. We have, however, two gripes: 1) Without exception, every caravan & Motorhome we saw arriving each day DID NOT adhere to the 5mph speed limit & this is extremely dangerous. There are children & pets on site & this needs to stop. 2) We saw SEVERAL people get out of their Motorhome, while their partner carried on around the site, in order to find their ideal pitch & stand in it until said partner came back around! This also needs to stop! All-in-all, we had a wonderful, relaxing 10 days at Chatsworth & will definitely return!

LOVELY SITE, FRIENDLY WARDENS, SHAME ABOUT THE NO-SHOWS

We love this site as it's easy to reach from our storage site. The wardens are friendly and welcoming. The facilities were spotless, although some members don't have respect for other users and don't clean the shower floors after use. Lots of places to visit, within walking distance, and Chatsworth is beautiful. We walked through the door to be welcomed by young deer, which was a special moment. We only managed to book a super pitch within a week of arriving, which is not always ideal as I work full time. The most disappointing thing was the number of empty pitches, including super pitches (3 near us) on Friday, despite the website showing fully booked. Hopefully the new payment system will stop this block booking, late cancellation and no shows If you haven't been, you're missing out. Highly recommended!

Really helpful wardens, lovely site. Highly recommend.

It has been a long time since we have been to Chatsworth, as we are very local to here. I just want to say how really helpful the wardens were with me. I telephoned the site on the Thursday asking for advice as my husband was working all day on the Friday and I was bringing our twin axle caravan myself to set up and I was nervous about reversing the van onto the pitch. The wardens advised that they would help as much as they can, (Covid permitting) and that is just what they did and I cannot thank them enough. The site is lovely, well maintained and the facilities are spotless. Would highly recommend, I know its booked up quite a lot, but if you really want to go keep checking on line as there are always cancellations.

Live like a Duke or Duchess!

Frequent visitors to Chatsworth, we find something new in the area each time we visit. To be given a gate key to the Chatsworth estate grounds as part of your stay is truly unique and offers walks with amazing views of Chatsworth House and surrounding countryside. The site staff are always friendly and have developed a fantastic way to speed entry to the site at busy periods; visitors should remember that arrivals are only possible after 1pm and anyone on-site should avoid trying to leave at peak arrival times as the road to the site is single track with limited passing points. Villages of Baslow and Pilsley are well worth a visit - we were impressed with The Devonshire at Baslow on our visit which has become very dog friendly with a great menu and service. Visits to the Chatsworth Farm Shop and nearby Bakewell (try Thornbridge Brewery tap whilst you're there) are a must do.

Perfect location

The staff were friendly and helpful. The pitch instructions and site rules were communicated clearly on arrival and the facilities were clean and tidy. The walks from the site were beautiful, regardless of which direction you took! There is wildlife in abundance, from the ducks on site to the deer in the grounds of Chatsworth House. We were fortunate enough to visit whilst the Christmas Illuminated Chatsworth Walk was still ongoing. We managed to get tickets for the last night and can thoroughly recommend the experience for both young and old. The adjacent River Derwent has numerous benches and picnic places along its banks, although they proved a little too chilly to take advantage of on our winter visit! We would love to return again in the warmer months to do some more walks in the area.

Wonderful escape

The on site team provide a very efficient and friendly greeting on arrival. They could not have been more helpful throughout our stay. The facilities are clean and well tended. The site is located in the most beautiful setting alongside the river Derwent, where we watched herds of deer grazing and even crossing the river. A gate/doorway leads you into the splendour of Chatsworth House park with many miles or parkland walks. Baslow is an easy walk away and Bakewell is accessible on foot too (about an hour to walk). There are some spectacular walks from this site and we will be returning as soon as we can.

Great in the snow

First time to this site, the location is great for lovely walks in Chatsworth and other places near by. Local village is a short walk and has several pubs and shops. The wardens kept everything really clean and tidy, even when we had a big freeze and snow fall. The staff were out defrosting the water pipes and clearing the roads around the site. Will definitely be back. Well done and thanks to all the staff.

excellent campsite

We stayed here last week and had a lovely few nights. The site is beautifully maintained and the wardens were lovely and so friendly . On the whole is was a lovely quiet site but early one morning there were loud bangs ( what I presume were gunshots quite close by as I don't think it was a bird scarer and I think they were possibly shooting something in the park…. I hope it wasn't badgers or some other wildlife )…... . It was frosty on the last morning and some inconsiderate caravan owner near to us was running his car engine for a good 15 minutes starting at 6.45 to clear his windscreen before hitching up his caravan to leave at 7.15 . Some people are very inconsiderate It was interesting one evening when it was dark when I presume what was a Chinook helicopter came really low and had caravans shaking with the downdraft…it sounded very close !! But a fabulous site in a fabulous setting and I have booked to go back again we enjoyed it so much

Last Minute Booking

First visit here for some time but nothing really changed still as lovely. As has been mentioned before you eirher love or hate this site! The main attraction is Chatsworth House and Estate really so easily accessible from the site, with your own key ,such a lovely place to visit. Great for dogs have to be on leads on the estate ( saw some that weren’t) The Autumn colours are stunning at the moment, deer a plenty too. Lots of other interesting places to visit within a short drive, Monsall Trail and Viaduct, Ashford in the Water, Bakewell etc etc! Worth a visit to Chatsworth Farm Shop and Garden Centre, but pricey!Well stocked site shop with helpful friendly wardens who keep site very tidy. Pitches are quite close together the outer ones seem a little better not overlooked just as bad, we thought the pitches 62-71 looked some of the nicest no grass to speak of though but not just under the trees (of which there are plenty) as much. But its up to individual choice not all suit everyone! First time on a club site and we were told to park between the two pegs( white or blue) not corner of caravan up to peg. Absolutely no point in arriving before 1pm you wont get in and no where to park. Lay-by locations are given on the site website depending on which direction you are travelling from. Great site well worth a visit I know it gets booked early but we only booked this last week and managed five nights so well worth to keep checking!

Another excellent visit

One of our nearest sites and, although only 20 miles from home, we take the caravan as often as we can and have just spent nine nights here. The wardens are so friendly and have upped their game. Brightened up the outside of the office with coloured lights. There is now on site pizza van twice a week and a fish and chip van once a week (yes we tried them both and excellent). The revised check in is much speedier so less of a long queue on the access road which was a pain and the source of much discontent in the past. They now take your name, give you a map, tell you to find a pitch then go back to the office to pay once you've done that. I had advocated this a few years ago and it really cuts down the queue. They're much more laid back than the previous wardens with a number of pitches having more than one vehicle on them as most pitches have plenty of room for this. Only thing missing - they once were able to order newspapers but this stopped and I'd like to see it introduced again but it won't stop us going and we already have lots of visits booked for 2022!
