Great Short Visit

We stayed at Chapel Lane just for one night, but the owner's were friendly and welcoming and the facilities excellent and very clean. The pitches were nice and big and level too with plenty of trees for screening. We were going to Birmingham Symphony Hall for a concert on the night of our stay and the owner took the trouble to look up train times from the local station and return train times too to make sure we could get back safely to the site. We took our camper and parked in the lovely free Car Park at Shirley Station (as we were travelling by train) and in less than half an our were at Snow Hill Station. We got back to Shirley just before midnight and were back at the campsite just 9 minutes later - the site was well lit and we were soon snuggled down for the night. We were sorry not to be staying longer as there was lots to explore in the area. This site is an excellent base for anyone wanting to explore our second city or indeed to pop to nearby Stratford-upon-Avon or Warwick and the beautiful surrounding countryside. We will be back hopefully for a longer stay.

Bob and Astra chill at Chapel Lane

This was our third visit to Chapel Lane and once again, the site was beautifully kept and the pitches spacious and level. The wardens could not have been more helpful, especially as we were here for a family funeral and needed a little more flexibility than usual about departure times. All the wardens were understanding and helpful - thank you very much to them! The site is so handy for visiting both Birmingham and the Warwickshire countryside - especially the canal system at Lapworth, where we walked in the steps of Tim West and Prunella Scales. The nearby Beckett's farm Shop is a highlight - and an excuse to need some urgent goodies. Our dogs enjoyed the walks nearby, and the on-site dog walk is good. Astra has taken to watching the world go by from the top of one of the sofa's in the front - we need to install her a net curtain to twitch. Lots of dogs on site, but all on leads - thank you to everyone for that - it makes life so much easier. The pitches are very well laid out with plenty of space between 'vans and levelling is very straightforward here. Plus, I could get the awning pegs in without too much of a fight ( or unsavoury language) which is always a bonus! In all, this is a great site with a good location - some pitches may have some road noise but unless you have no choice, it is easy to avoid these with a little forward planning. Our pitch, near the second toilet block, was very quiet indeed.

Handy but Surprisingly Noisy

My wife, children and I were looking for somewhere close to Birmingham for a family gathering and this place was ideal. We were actually stopping off for a couple of nights after a week by the sea in Dorset. Maybe the juxtaposition of that location with Chapel Lane accentuated the noise, but considering the site's location it was annoying hearing so much passing traffic. We would avoid the pitches 9-14 and those close by. That lane behind is busy!! Full credit to the wardens - we were delayed arriving and having phoned ahead they awaited our arrival 10 minutes after the closing time and therefore we were able to pitch up and get the children settled and avoided the late arrivals area. The site is so convenient as it's a stone's throw from the M42 and all Warwickshire and Worcestershire has to offer. Birmingham is right on your doorstep too. The facilities were spotless. The site would benefit from lighter gravel as we have seen on others sites as the grey stones create a rather industrialised appearance.

Great overnight stop

We used chapel lane as a convenient overnight stop when traveling from Wiltshire to N Wales, Not too far from the motorway yet surprisingly quiet. The wardens were friendly and helpful and the site is well maintained. Access was very easy and the overnight hard standing pitches were great just to pitch up and plug in and were surprisingly spacious, although we did not make use of the facilities as such they were in need of some updating and they felt quite cold which is the main reason we did not bother making use!! That said we will be back again when travelling North to break up the journey.

Fabulous overnight stop

We tend to use chapel lane as an convenient overnights when traveling from Cumbria to Somerset. Not too far from the motorway yet surprisingly quiet. The wardens are usually friendly and helpful and the site is well maintained however it's time the shower blocks had some money spent on them, other sites appear to have been updated yet this very well used and popular site has been overlooked! Can we get this sort club please ?

Great site for the Birmingham area

Excellent stopping off site if you're on the motorways going north or south. Easy parking up on the all tarmac area, ideal for staying a night. Bus stop nearby gets you to either Solihull or Maypole and change for Birmingham. Rail Station about 1 3/4 miles away. Farm shop 10 mins walk away but unfortunately closes at . Good cycle route nearby which will take you into Kings Norton and further.

A lovely site

We stayed at Chapel Lane last week end and what a pleasure not to be up to our knees in mud with the hardcore pitches. We had come from Wales! Overall the site was well up with standards we expect from the Club, but I found the toilet blocks were not heated sufficiently on the evenings when I used them for a shower. But this will not deter us fro visiting again later in the year.

Surprisingly rural retreat

We often stay here, when visiting the NEC exhibition centre, or when travelling South after a trip to Scotland or the Lake District. Although this is a large site, it is very quiet, and the pitches are spacious. We were delighted to discover on our recent trip (6th to 9th April) that there are now serviced pitches! Excellent news for us, as we are both now in our seventies and appreciate not having to roll out the barrel! The staff, as ever, were pleasant and helpful. As we have a big twin axle van we don't use the site showers and loos, but I'm sure they are maintained to the same high standard as the site overall. Our only small gripe is that the Club charges for WiFi access. Many CLs don't charge at all, and in this day and age I'm sure that many campers want to be in touch with their emails etc.
