Great location for an overnight stop

Like almost everyone there last week we stayed 2 nights to go to the show at the NEC. OK so one of the boilers was broken - irreparably I understood - but we never had to queue for toilets or showers. The site is not "pretty" all over but is a great stop for 1 or 2 nights if travelling the length of the country or visiting the NEC. It's very easy to get to from the M42. There wasn't much road noise and it served us well. The warden on reception was welcoming and helpful. It also wasn't as expensive as some Club sites seem to be these days. We'll use it again. Thanks for the stay.

Not Great

Access to this site is pretty straight forward. Check in was efficient if a little unfriendly (there really is no need to be given a dressing down about speed on site before you've even entered). Large areas of the site are covered in unbroken tarmac, not really a nice look. The HS pitches are gravel, but lurking just below the surface is rock (I ruined a few rock pegs trying to penetrate). We were told on arrival that one shower block was out of order, not really on when they are fully booked. Dog walk is just a scamper. We got full digital TV reception with our Status and decent 4g on EE and O2. No shop near by except the extortionate Becketts Farm shop. Not one we'd return to out of choice.

No Excuse!

I have to agree with previous review. We arrived on Monday to attend the NEC on Tuesday to be told after registering that only 1 shower block was working. How can it take so long to mend a boiler. At home I could have mine repaired or replaced in a day! I have a simple contract to provide that. The only 2 wardens were under severe pressure due to a full site and needed more help. Strangely enough at the NEC there were loads of staff with little to do! The pitches were covered with debris from trees and had obviously not been touched since recent winds. I feel that we should have been advised of the issues before arrival. The Club has a cheek to still charge full price. One of the worst experiences in over 30 years membership.

Limited showers

We arrived on Monday afternoon to attend the NEC motorhome and caravan show, the whole site was full, reception booked us in then told us "we have boiler problems at one of the two shower blocks, you can use the wash basins and toilets but not the showers", this ment the whole site was using one block of three showers for men and three for women ! .This problem had been reported over a week ago .Knowing the site was going to be full, due to the show, this problem should have been prioritised. We find the circumstances we were presented with un-acceptable.

Nice site but showing it's age

Found this site to be central to meet friends from the south - we are from the north, well sited for access from M42. Wardens friendly and helpful always busy, keeping the site clean and tidy and looking pretty with pleasant floral displays and a herb garden. We had a serviced pitch well sited to catch the sun but the ground was very hard! Never bent so many pegs putting the awning up! We had to drill a hole before putting the pegs in. The information hut was well stocked and obviously checked on a daily basis, the toilet blocks kept spotless - however one was only open for toilet and hand washing use as they were having problems with the boiler - it meant that the other block was well used but there was always a shower free, and they were always clean. So well done those wardens and thank you.

haven on a fraught day

excellent location, definitely requires some updating re facilities, a very large site might be more attractive if broken up into different areas. wardens are fabulous and hard working,

Very disappointing experience!

We too had contact with the "very unfriendly lady" mentioned in another review. Unfortunately, our car broke down half an hour after setting off for Chapel Lane. The car needed a new part and so we were unable to set off until 4 o'clock the following day. We had rung the site on the day we broke down and spoke to a very understanding gentleman. We said that we would keep the site informed and so we rang again just as we were setting off. This time the said lady answered the phone and we couldn't believe her attitude. We were told not to bother setting off if we couldn't guarantee arriving before 8 and that if we were late there might not be a pitch available for us! She also told us to book another site nearer our home instead! We were stressed enough without this! As it was, we arrived just after 7 only to find a late night arrivals area and lots of empty pitches! In 10 years of membership and having visited many, many sites, we have never come across such an unhelpful warden before.

Well used popular site.

Very well situated for members with long journeys, being close to the M42 but far enough away to be peaceful if you pick a pitch closer to the caravan storage area. One toilet block needs updating, but no reason for several Wcs and showers to be closed off with a bar while we were there last. Also some floor grouting badly needs redoing for hygene sake. Other block is fine and both are kept clean by the hard working Wardens. Wife loves Becketts being close by, lovely wholesome food to eat and take away. A regular stop for us as our Daughter lives close by.

Town and Country

Super spot, enjoyed it so much a few years ago when we just used it as a stopover that we returned to stay for a week. Did not disappoint, superb dog walk next to the site, and an adequate run on site. Nice and close to all the local amenities, and an easy drive into Birmingham city centre. Lovely wardens, I'd messed up our booking and they were very kind and helpful.

Weekend retreat

We visited the site over the bank holiday weekend from Saturday to Monday. We were late booking so felt lucky to get in. The site itself was very clean and tidy, the shower block was lovely too. It was little expensive for the situation and the facilities offered as it is essentially a stop over site. Such a pity I was greeted by a very unfriendly lady who made me feel very uncomfortable with every response. I was told to choose a pitch and then go back and give her the plot number before getting the barrier card. There were not many pitches left so we chose one at the back which backed onto a very busy noisey road. I didn’t go straight back to the office because I was getting sorted and rang her to give her the pitch number but was told that I needed to go back to the office or I would not be able to get out of the site until I had the card. Again another very unfriendly conversation. All in all not a great experience and we would never return it ruined our weekend. Customer service is paramount in this business we know we run holiday lets ourselves!
