Lack of Atmosphere

Excellent site for travelling into Birmingham and situated in a nice area. Showers and toilets were spotless. We were here for the New Year period but unfortunately the site lacked atmosphere for the time of year. The wardens did say that a few years ago there had been access to a suitable room for a New Year party, but unfortunately this was no longer available, which is a shame. To be fair to the wardens they did advertise a small gathering in the afternoon of New Year's Eve but we couldn't make the time. We would use this site again when visiting Birmingham.

Good site would return

Site very easy to find. We found staff very helpful as after reading some of the reviews were wondering what we would find. Pitch good size and no problem parking up. Yes one shower block had no heating but showers were working but the other which was nearer was fine. Four showers in ladies and really clean, hot water and warm in there as well. No complaints. For us as we wanted to visit Birmingham it was a good distance and didn't take long. Stayed five nights and would return again. Must add the road noise was non existent but did ask where best pitch would be so not to hear it and was more than happy so slept well. We were there over New Year and fireworks in the distance were lovely.

Little Disappointed

On arrival and booking in, guy on desk read out our booking, "2 adults and 1 child eewwwweee"! or words to this affect. Is this not a family site? Double checked and yes, so why this comment. In general a good site but too much "gravel" for us. Very little grasses area and the children's area roped off. Don't think we'll be using it again. Sorry Chapel Lanes.

Chapel lane site review.

Great site, great staff, so well placed for visits to Birmingham and surrounding area. First class pitches, good clean toilets, showers, plenty of room to relax. Just made our second visit in 6 weeks ( Birmingham Christmas market ) well worth while. We will be back next year. Thanks all staff.

Great site for the Birmingham Tattoo at the NEC

Stayed this weekend and had a lovely and helpful reception. We attended the Tattoo as ex-services association standard bearers on the Saturday and Sunday only to return to find the MoHo had a flat tyre. Called Britania Rescue on Monday morning to get the spare fitted. It is a 3.5t vehicle and at 81 - no way. Mobile reception not good and despite the office being closed and toilet cleaning in full flow, Peter opened up and allowed me to use the landline. He also reassured us that there was not a problem about leaving on time even though it was going to be a while before the mechanic would arrive. When he did arrive it was quickly sorted and we were finally on our way. Our grateful thanks to Peter and the team and God willing we will be back next year for the Tattoo.

Great site near the NEC

I have stayed here on a number of occasions. Really good for the NEC. Easy to find. Good dog walk and further dog walks just outside site. Farm shop nearby (walking distance). Sainsbury’s a short drive away. Friendly staff. Lean shower blocks that are nice and warm with plenty of hot water. I will be here again and again and again!

Large good site

We find the site very handy for stopovers or meeting family. The younger wardens are very helpful and friendly. We have used the site three times twice in summer and now in late autumn and it has always been hardly a fifth full. The site is very well kept and with luck the new boiler is up and running. We do find it strange that the CMC do keep the site open in winter while busy sites in the NE are closed !

Great location, very clean and tidy

Firstly, for some reason there are a few people questioning the friendliness of the wardens. Well, we found them to be very friendly and helpful. In fact, when there was a delay in getting our car repaired, the Head Warden said we could stay on the site until 4pm if need be. We also saw him helping our neighbour with his caravan. Anyway, the site is very easy to find, not far off J3 of the M42, with easy access in all directions to tourist locations. Yes, one toilet block was still out of action, but the other one (actually more central) was spotless. There is a play area and small dog walk area. Just up the road is not only the popular Becketts Farm Shop and restaurant, but also a golf shop and driving range. We will certainly return.

Quick overnight stop on the way to North Yorkshire

Very handy location just off the M42 and easy to get to. Large pitches and lots of hard standing makes it easier for those just stopping over night. One shower block was closed but as the site was only 30% full not an issue but something that needs sorting quicker having read previous reviews. Dog walk is just about ok particularly as there were very few dogs around, it’s not big and could easily be improved. My main issue was the price £24 for a very short stay & limited facilities might mean next time I won’t bother & will tackle the journey in one tiring day.

Showing it's age

We came here purposely for the caravan show at the NEC and to also visit the Black Country Museum as this site is ideally situated for both. I knew from reading reviews posted, that one shower block was out of order but was hoping it had been fixed when we got there. It wasn't and we were informed it would not be fixed for a few weeks, why? We were also told by site staff that it was no use complaining to them as they had heard enough. The other shower block, 3 showers for both sexes, was closed from 10am to 11am whilst the out of order block was closed from 11 am until 12pm, why wasn't this timing changed over to allow for the extra use, I'm sure it wouldn't have made much of a problem. Both the site and it's facilities are beginning to show their age. I would have thought that as the site is so well used, an update is long overdue and urgently needed.
