What a great find

Not sure why this site isn't fully booked more of the time. It's quite, very well kept with all the facilities you'll need. The couple of minus points are: If your at the bottom of the site its a fair trek to the only chemical disposal point. Some of the pitches require more then your normal levelling blocks, but the wardens keep planks of wood for just such occasions. In short I would fully recommend, just bare in mind that there is no play area for children. Enjoy :)

Great position for easy access to many parts of Cornwall

We specifically chose this site for easy access to many different and beautiful parts of Cornwall and were not disappointed. The site made our trips out to many different locations really easy and felt it was a great choice. Both Ian & Robin who run the site were very helpful and welcoming and the facilities very clean and well maintained and the site is both quiet and well placed to catch the sun. As we felt our motor home wasn’t suitable for exploring the lanes and villages in the area we arranged a hire a car from Enterprise Rentals, who were very helpful and collected us from the camp site to take us to nearby Bodmin to collect the car. We subsequently moved onto a different site in Cornwall and returned the car to Bodmin at the end of our holiday which worked really well. The staff at Enterprise couldn’t have been more helpful and we wouldn’t hestitate to make the most of our holiday by the use of a hire car in the future.

The ideal site

We have just returned from a two week break in Camelford. We rarely revisit a site as we like to travel to different areas of the country, but this site is just so peaceful and quiet that you are relaxed as soon as you arrive and feel you must come back again to recharge your batteries. Robin and Ian keep this site immaculate and are so helpful. Long may this site remain as it is now - the ideal site!

Lovely site, shame about the neighbours

Thanks to Robin & Ian for a well kept and well tended site. You can't ask for more really. Just outside the site, the hedgerows were packed with colour, further afield the Cornish lanes and coast provide magnificent views with their spectacular vistas. The NT and EP sites were beautiful, particularly Lanhydrock. Anyone visiting should take time to visit Davidstow Moor, the highest operational RAF base in it's time, and the museum. Roughtor, with access to Brown Willy is a wonderful place to explore the top edge of Bodmin Moor, only a few miles from the site. Thanks for a wonderful few days visiting Cornwall. We particularly enjoyed Trebarwith Strand, rugged when the tide was in, tranquil when it was out.

Ideal Cornish base

I agree wholeheartedly with the previous review. But would like to add that the shower block is very tired, the warden's do their best , and it is kept immaculate, but I think the club should put it on its to do up list. The hard standings are all in the middle, when we arrived there was plenty to choose from, which was a blessing as we were at the end of the Easter deluge. There is plenty of grass pitches all around which were mostly empty, giving us a good sense of space, all in all a nice friendly quiet site. Camelford 'town' is a bit run down, we went exploring and found it quite shabby. So use this as a good base for exploring Cornwall's gems, for which there are many.

well located site

We picked Camelford for an Easter break based on its central location and the previous good reviews. We were not disappointed, the site is beautifully kept by Ian and Robin, despite the damp start to the season that they have had to cope with. They are extremely welcoming and have a good knowledge of the local area. It is a fairly quiet site but plenty of North Cornwall's treasures are within an easy drive, particularly some lovely coast path walks. There are some good restaurants/tea rooms close by. I marked it down for families simply because there is no play area.

Tranquillity in Cornwall.

We stayed at Camelford for 10 nights at Easter and found that Robin & Ian were welcoming, friendly and helpful from the start. They keep the site immaculately clean and tidy and are always to be seen working in one area or another of the site. The site itself is easily accessible with wonderful views over the valley and is very peaceful and tranquil. The location is perfect for the Camel Trail with Wadebridge 9 miles away and the Bodmin end about 12. Tintagel is 10-15 minutes away by car as is Port Isaac whilst Bude & Padstow can be reached in about 30 minutes. There is a fantastic (but challenging!) coastal walk from Port Quin to Port Isaac which although only just over 3miles needs a good 3 or 4 hours set aside but is well worth the effort with fantastic scenery and cliff top views all along the route. Be warned that good footwear is essential though- no trainers or ballet shoes such as we witnessed!! We will definitely be returning to this site in the near future mainly for the peace and quiet afforded by the site itself. One slight quibble- it could do with a few more hardstandings as there are only 13. All in all a wonderful relaxing break.

Great Location and Excellent Hosts

We are new to caravanning and we were grateful for all the help and advise from Ian and Robin. The site is well organised and scrupulously clean. There is a small dog area, which is just adequate but not really big enough for a run. We made sure our dog was exhausted by the time we returned to the caravan, so he only needed a quick "business trip" before bed. Ian and Robin were exceptionally helpful and keep the site well maintained. Hard standing pitches are generous in size and arranged well to make manoeuvring easy; even for a tyro. I hope to stay here again next season.

Ian & Mel

When we arrived at the camp site we were met by Ian & Robin the wardens with a very friendly welcombe as were new to to the camping scene. They explained every thing we needed to know then came over to check we were all set up and ok and even lent us some cutlery as we forgot ours. The site was clean tidy and seemed to be well organised. We would recommend that if your visiting the area this is one camp site to stay at its a credit to Ian & Robin thank you for a great August bank holiday weekend.

Good week

We have just returned from this site and it is beautifully clean and well kept the wardens were very friendly and helpful the downside was the awful muck spreading that took place whilst we were there it put us off our evening meal so had to eat out it was that bad, also on a family site we were disappointed that there was no play park only a very little used tennis court,so although we. Were pleased with the location and cleanliness we were disappointed with children's facilities..
