Return Visit Didn't Disappoint!!

The wardens here are a breath of fresh air and made us feel really welcome. We arrived a little before 1200 hrs and were happy to wait but it wasn't a problem (no tutting and pointed looking at watches from Robin and Ian). Friendly and helpful, both working hard to keep the site looking nice, clean and tidy. This is a small site a little inland but still handy for visiting places up and down the coast. Camelford itself is a little disappointing with the main A39 running straight through it but there is a Co-op and post office for day to day items. If you do visit, take a walk over to the Bodmin side of the A39 - lots of footpaths and a riverside walk alongside the River Camel. Alternatively, follow the lanes up onto the moors for a change. There is no denying that the dog walk is on the small side but as others have pointed out, there are alternatives. Mixture of grass and hard standing pitches with some seasonal vans. We pitched at the top end of the site and were quite level but you might struggle with a large outfit if you end up by the storage area where it is quite sloping. All in all, for £20.10 a night, we like it. Thanks for a great stay.

Nice site

Not stayed here before and I found it to be a very nice site. It is small but well laid out, quite sloping on the grass pitches but, luckily, I got one of the hardstandings which have been levelled. It is a very peaceful site with lovely views over surrounding countryside. The dog walk is very small but I think this is a necessity due to the constraints of the size of the site - but I found a footpath and field opposite to take the dogs to (via public footpath). Friendly wardens too. A great location from which to explore the North Cornwall coast etc.

Excellent site

Our 5 night stay at Camelford was fantastic. The weather during our stay was not brilliant but it was more than compensated by the hospitality of the camp site management. Robin & Ian were brilliant hosts, nothing was too much trouble. The site is extremely clean and well serviced. The shop offered more than enough essentials. Our dog also enjoyed his holiday there! We were very impressed and look forward to returning. Definitely a 5 star visit.

Second Choice

We stayed here in July whilst walking the South West Coast Path, we really wanted to stay on Trewethet Farm but it was booked so settled on Camelford. The site is really well maintained and the Wardens were very friendly and helpful. The toilet/shower facilities are very old and in desperate need of an upgrade. Views from the site are great. Although on a country lane we found it quite noisy with traffic. Note the Handbook states "High tension power cables cross the site, but not over the pitching area", WRONG, the cables are right over the pitching area and I'm afraid that had we not been able to get a pitch away from these we would not have stayed. The site served its purpose for us but I doubt that we would use it again. Camelford itself was a huge disappointment.

Fantastic Site Team

We stayed at this site during the school holidays and the site was spotless, as was the toilet facilities. Rob & Ian are the best Managers we have ever met, in many years caravanning and now with a Motorhome. They were Mega friendly, extremely helpful and always available for a chat. They regularly walked around the site, which is something many managers don't do. When they mentioned the rules on arrival, it didn't sound like you are being told off as many managers do. I would highly recommend this site to anybody that wants a fabulous holiday. Thanks Rob & Ian we will see you again.

Ticked All Our Boxes

We picked this site to use as a base for walking the South West Coastal Path. Access was very straightforward and the site offers a mixture of hard standing and grass pitches - some more level than others. Extremely friendly and helpful wardens who keep the site looking great - thank you. Although the site was almost full, it was very quiet - maybe because it is quite a distance from the beach and other attractions. That said, it's a personal preference as to what's important for you. Easy walk into Camelford for basic shopping. Limited walking from the site - the lanes are busy and traffic tends to travel at speed. Dog walk is basic - a small fenced area adjacent to the road. Transport needed to get further afield. All in all, site offered good value for money and we will definitely revisit.

Peaceful and Relaxing

This site is just off a main road so very easy to access. Even though I was there during the summer holidays it was never fully booked. Everyone was nicely spread out and whilst there were a couple of families near me they weren't noticeable. The site is 6 miles from the coast and at least 2 miles from any of the main attractions in the area and without means of transport would be difficult to get to. The bus service is irregular at best. There are foot trails nearby. The staff were very friendly and effective and the facilities - if a little dated - were kept clean.

Excellent site

This is our third visit to this site and as always is very well kept. The toilets. Showers are also clean and tidy. Not much else you can say about it, and always look forward to coming. The site wardens are excellent and nothing is to much trouble I would give them and the site ten out of ten

Very warm welcome

Spent 8 nights here recently, extending our original booking by 2 nights. A lovely peaceful, central site. Yes the toilet block does need updating but it is kept immaculate by Ian and Robin, the disabled toilet/shower is in a portacabin not ideal but very large and more than adequate. The flower beds and grass were being mowed and weeded whilst we were there and the wardens seemed always busy doing something but never too busy for a chat. The location just off the main road means easy access with no narrow lanes and there are a few local shops, a co-op and a lovely fish and chip shop very close. All in all a great site and we will make another visit soon.

Nice clean site

We stayed here in June for 14nights, it's a ideal site for North Cornwall, but it takes just under 2hours to reach Lands End which is very rugged and beautiful at the same time is expensive to park £6!! Boscastle is lovely with a great Nat Trust coffee shop, all around the coast is fabulous there's so much to see. The site is looked after by Ian and Robin, who do a great job keeping it cleans, but the club does need to update the toilet block, we had a fabulous sunset every night which was fab. There is no children's area and only a small dog area.
