this was our first every visit to Cherry Hinton, but wont be our last from the moment we arrived we were made to feel right at home and very welcome, any question we had about the local area and best ways to see it etc considering we where in a motorhome with no tow car, Paul and Marie supplied us with a map and lots of advice that enabled us to have a fabulous bank holiday weekend break, i had a small issue with my tv cable ,no trouble to Paul he just loaned me one problem sorted, with no fuss, the site was keep spotlessly clean and tidy. we cant wait to visit again the next chance we can
Thank You Paul and Marie keep up the amazing job you are doing
Great to visit again
Over the years we have visited here numerous times. Location is perfect for visiting Cambridge, there is a park and ride just down the road. We stayed for 1 night and despite being the last people to arrive we were still given a warm welcome from the wardens - well done and thank you for your enthusiasm! We were given a choice of several pitches - remember the ground was very wet apon arrival and we were in a motorhome which are renouned for getting stuck on wet grass let alone mud. We occupied a hard stand pitch opposite the washroom which was lovely and level, protected from the (very strong during our stay) winds and close to the EHU bollard. As an added bonus, not worries about getting stuck - hardstands are king in wet weather if you use a MH. Facilities immaculate, many thanks to the wardens hard work keeping things this way. We walked to Cherry Hinton town, not far, to buy supplies from the supermarket for tea. Usually we would visit a pub or 2 to break up the journey but due to the covid restrictions in the UK we decided to wander back to the site for a glass of wine and a hearty evening meal 'in house'. Lovely quiet nights stay, great nights sleep. Clean and tidy washrooms. Level pitches and lovely wardens. No doubt we will be back again another day.
Lovely setting
Great pretty site, in an old quarry with small separated areas. Nice showers and facilities. The C&MC are great giving the reduced VAT rate back to us. About £23.50 a night. Stayed Fri and Sat. A cycle ride into Cambridge or 2 buses nearby. Friendly, helpful and informative wardens.
Great real ale pubs - lots of choices-The Flying Pig and The Maypole.
OK for a short break
Two of the friendliest wardens we have met greeted us at Cherry Hinton, really makes a difference. The site is a bit cramped and does have a bit of a goldfish bowl effect in some areas but nonetheless it is quiet and peaceful, which is surprisingly given that quite a busy road runs past it. The showers and toilets are as you come to expect, top notch. For casual cycling this is the place to go, loads of paths to follow all virtually flat. If you just want to bus it in, the park and ride is a two minute drive away from the site, where there is free parking and the return fare into the city is £3. Tesco is very close by car. TV with booster available is fine. Ideal place for people like us who just wanted a short break within an hours drive.
Brilliant week
Enjoyed a week at Cherry Hinton site. A very warm welcome from Maria & Paul on arrival very knowledgeable excellent pitch if we had any Sun unfortunately rained most days. Short walk to bus stops into Cambridge very frequent enjoyed an excellent meal at the Robin Hood pub all in all a excellent site will definitely be going back again
Great Site, Great Team. Thank you
We visited the site 9ver 5 days and it was lovely. Site was clean and tidy and close to a Tesco express and the Pub!!
We didn't met the full time wardens as they were on holiday but the temp wardens from Southend really were lovely and helpful.
Really loved the nature reserve on other side of the road for dog walks and the on site walk is good.
Can't wait to come back end of Nov. We will bring the bikes next time for sure.
WiFi good.
If working from van like me then, Vodaphone signal not fabulous but ok for hotspot on email, low quality on MS Teams, SKYPE etc. Obviously not the sites fault!! I will report on next visit if EE any better as I have Giga Cube to try out there.
Excellent site, great location and fabulous helpful wardens
We stayed here in September 2020, as we wanted to explore, the site was very busy. The wardens were excellent with nothing too much trouble and great local knowledge. With very few free pitches they were quick to point out the options and we got a great level pitch with afternoon sun.
The site is great for visiting Cambridge with amenities and transport a ten minute saunter away. The chalk pits are a good dog walk area and we would thoroughly recommend this site.
We used ur facilities throughout but the band system for toilets seemed to work
Great site im a great location.
First time at Cherry Hinton. Was impressed by the cleanliness of the facilities and the overall ambience of the site. Will certainly be back at some point in the future.
Meeting with Friends
We live only 10 miles from this site, so would not normally stay at a site so close to home but we were meeting up with friends we had made on a trip to NZ last year. On arrival we mentioned this to Paul and Marie, the very welcoming friendly wardens, they then couldn't have been more helpful in siting us close together, so we could have a socially distancing catch up. Although we only used the facilities minimally, they were very clean. As you are unable to pick up leaflets in the information cabin, they had laminated all necessary details regarding local transport and places to visit etc. Would definately recommend this site to people wanting to visiting Cambridge.
Waterpoints
These looked so tatty as repainting needed. Hardstandings need more stones, ours was weedy, bare patches and tree debris. Same as wardens very friendly and good location.
