Well kept site. Good wardens! Convenient for exploring local attractions and beaches. Think walk to beach is longer than 15-20 mins.[ unless you are super fit].
My only problem is how do barking dogs go hand in hand with wildlife? But this seems a problem everywhere nowadays.
Super peaceful
Just nice and peaceful, nice 20 minute walk down to Traeth Bythan beach (25 mins back!) where there is a nice cafe, breakfast and unspoilt. larger shops in Llangefni or smaller ones nearby plus plenty of eating choice at Benllech. And of course fascinating watching the red squirrels
Excellent, Well-run Site
Cae Mawr is a lovely peaceful (it was still school term) site, and with the most helpful wardens. The wardens went out their way to be helpful, and the site is particularly well-run. Although it doesn't have a toilet block, there are lots of taps/waste facilities, so it is not a problem at all. There is NO dog walk ON site (contrary to the CAMC literature), but there is a walk from the site, though the path is narrow and makes passing other dogs a little awkward at times. Traeth Bychan (local beach) is only about 20 minutes' walk away (a bit more coming back because it is gently uphill), and the little bay is quite lovely, and ideal for dogs. Although my visit was only for a couple of nights, I shall certainly be back. My thanks to the wardens for their hard work.
Superb club site with wonderful wardens
We have just returned from Cae Mawr after a wonderful 4 night stay. Access to the site is easy and we received a warm welcome from the wardens, Heather & Ed. The site is beautifully maintained and they work tirelessly to ensure the grounds are immaculate. We had a hardstanding pitch with plenty of space for the outfit, levelling ramps are required as some of the pitches are sloping. There is a lovely 15 minute circular walk from the site which goes to the village of Marianglas, benches are located on the village green with views over the sea which became a favourite evening walk for us. This site has no toilet block which was one of the reasons for us choosing it as we use our own facilities. There are so many beautiful places to explore in the local area that we wish we could have stayed longer. We had a really memorable holiday here, finished off by Heather and Ed giving us such a cheerful wave as we departed. We are already planning another visit to Cae Mawr.
Great site ruined by thoughtless drivers who do not understand the concept of 5mph.
We have been coming to Cae Mawr since 2012 and love this site a great deal. It has been one of our favourite Club sites. We have already enjoyed two bookings this season and have a third booked for September. However, we are becoming increasingly alarmed by the number of drivers on site who are blatantly ignoring the 5mph speed restriction in spite of clear signage around the site, constant reminders by the wardens and the speed ramps at regular intervals.
Drivers of SUVs in particular seem to be immune to this simple instruction and I fear it is only a matter of time before an incident occurs and somebody is placed in jeopardy by this potentially reckless behaviour.
This review will no doubt offend many of the readers of Cae Mawr reviews who will probably say "oh not me", but sadly the reality would suggest that for a high percentage of visitors to this lovely site it is indeed "oh yes you!".
These concerns were raised with the relief wardens on site, who were both equally concerned about this growing phenomenon but were frustrated by the number of people simply ignoring their advice about the 5 mph rule.
I think the Caravan and Motorhome Club should urgently and seriously consider a more robust stance on this issue and take action before a serious incident or accident occurs.

Amazing wardens make this site so welcoming
Car Mawr is a beautifully kept site where the wardens really care about your visit. It’s quiet & peaceful and a lovely spot to watch out for red squirrels and bird life. There’s easy access to the coast path for walking and to the glorious beaches Anglesey has to offer. However what makes this site is the friendliness of the wardens who go over and above the call of duty to make your stay a good one. We were cooking a birthday breakfast outside when Ed passed and serenaded us with Happy Birthday!
There’s no toilet block as mentioned but I’d like to correct another reviewer who thought it was adults only. Children are welcome on this site and although there’s no playground there are lots of green spaces. The information hut is well kept with up to date recommendations, timetables etc. Marianglas has no local facilities but nearby Benllech has a butcher, fish shop, Coop and Tesco.
it contrasts hugely with Penrhos nearby where we stayed last year. The female warden there (Ann?) was the rudest and unwelcoming warden we’ve ever come across. Car Mawr has restored our faith, thanks for an excellent stay.

Perfection!
This has been the best site we have stayed at. A warm welcome at reception, a choice of hard-standing pitches and a real feeling of openness and spaciousness (Cae Mawr means Big Field) meant we were in a special place. Having no toilet block is no hardship with modern caravans and it added to the peaceful and tranquil ambience of the site. The site has accessibility to wondrous locations on Anglesey by car, bicycle or foot. We walked the Coastal path from Traeth ((Beach) Bwchan to Cemaes Bay, taking in Amlwch. We cycled to Llangefni and back through Dingle Nature Reserve to Lynn Cefni along quiet back roads. The staff were always interested in your activities for the day and then chat to you after your day’s experiences. Yet this never detracts from their work in maintaining a wonderfully tidy and efficient site. The staff are a credit to the Caravan and Motorhome Club for their enthusiasm, knowledge and commitment to excellence. I truly believe Cae Mawr to be the most welcoming, relaxing, and enjoyable site we have stayed at. To misquote Arnie’s Terminator, ‘we’ll be back’!
Brilliant Wardens, Thank You
Super site well laid out, generous pitches, grass regularly cut, the gives a light and airy feel. Lovely beaches short easy drives away. Unfortunately we had to leave urgently halfway through our holiday due to our lovely dog Alfie, his on going health issue worsened. Heather and Ed the wardens couldn't have been more kind and compassionate. Sadly Alfie had to be put to sleep when we got home. He is now in 'doggy heaven' running on his Favourite beaches, having visited most of England, Wales and Scotlands beaches during his 13 years with us.
A big thank you also to assistant warden Tricia who became our saviour, introducing us to a kind gentleman from County Durham (sorry forgot to ask his name) who brilliantly sorted out our gas leak on arrival at the site. It was a failure of the yearly service done by the dealership service dept.
In over 20 years as now, the Caravan and Motorhome Club, member we have never needed the support we so badly needed as on that holiday at Cae Mawr. It was there in bundles and put us at ease with what was very stressful time for us in our late 70's, Other members offered there help too. It was like being with lots of family members having that huge support. Thanks to everyone. Hope to go back to this wonderful site (with red squirrels to spot) and continue our sightseeing on Anglesey. The small piece of the island we saw was beautiful, quiet roads, wide open spaces, lots to do for all ages. Thank You the Caravan and Motorhome Club and its lovely Wardens
Site to revisit
Excellent site very well kept. Good size pitches, and well set out. Been here a few times and it was the best we had seen it. Warden helpful.
Peaceful well kept site
Just returned from one of our regular stays at this beautiful quiet and peaceful site. Had a lovely welcome from Ed the warden who together with Heather kept the site immaculate and who always gave a cheery wave or had time for a pleasant chat. There are no toilet facilities on this site and no children's play ground. Nearest beach is an easy 30 minute downhill walk (although steeper on way back) and 40 mins walk down the back road will take you into Benllech itself. Chip shop next to Tesco is highly recommended,
