Spectacular Setting

As you approach the site coming down the hill you can see rock faces of the old quarry that form the backdrop for this site. This is another site with all hardstanding pitches except for a small handful of tent pitches on grass. The site has recently been refurbished and has a super toilet block which should be large enough to cope when the site is full. Excellent motorhome waste point with an open grill and plenty of space in which to manoeuvre. The geographic nature of the site has an adverse impact on both TV and phone signals. However the electric bollards have a cable TV connection and many of the pitches should be OK for satellite reception. Unfortunately phone reception is far more limited and not very good if you want to use your own data which then means buying access to the Club's WiFi which is very expensive for short term use. There is a little bench seat near reception where you can generally get a better signal! If you don't want to use your own transport this site is quite remote with no bus services nearby. However the site have negotiated a good deal with a local taxi company for a fixed price fare which seemed reasonable to us. The site will give you details of how to walk into Buxton via Poole's Cavern and Pavilion Gardens but you have the be able to deal with steep inclines and declines so think carefully about it. Buxton is a famous Spa town and parts of the original centre, The Crescent, are currently being restored. For shopping there is a handy Waitrose in the Springs Shopping Centre. For car users all sorts of outings into the Peak District are available from this site.

WOW

The site is in a quarry I told my husband, that didn't meet with too much enthusiasm but that soon changed once we arrived. A stunning location, wonderful new toilet and shower blocks, laundry room, washing up room etc. We only used the toilets and showers but the standard of these were excellent. Phone signal and tv reception is poor but then what do you expect, you are in a quarry. Pitches are well spaced, no overcrowding here. The site has been well thought out, with everything you need to make for a pleasant and relaxed stay. Nice little touches like a fresh herb box near reception to flavour your home cooked meals. There is a walk down into Buxton from the site, but it is steep in places, it takes about an hour and its a long uphill slog back to the site, but they do have an arrangement with a local taxi firm if you need it. Buxton has an abundance of shops and things to do.

Buxton

This site has been refurbished and the facilities are excellent. We were pleased to see a 'dog wash' area which proved particularly helpful for muddy paws as we were unlucky enough to have rain every day. I hope that other sites might start to install these. The wi-fi is very poor - we pay an annual fee for caravan club wi-fi and we have never experienced such poor reception. I understand that mobile phone reception is also poor in some areas of the site, although with O2 we were able to make and receive calls. TV reception is described as 'poor', but using an aerial lead from the booster on site, our television reception was good. The site is some way from the nearest shop and it would be helpful to be able to order a daily newspaper. The laundry facilities were excellent with two new washing machines and tumble dryers (which were frequently used due to the awful weather). However, we were most concerned to see someone bringing in damp towels after taking a shower and drying them in the tumble dryer!!! For reasons of hygiene, it might be helpful for all sites to post a notice in the laundry reminding everyone that tumble dryers should be used for newly washed laundry only!

Another great stay at Buxton

We've stayed here a few times, and this was our first visit since the renovations last year. The site and facilities are immaculate. The wardens are very welcoming and friendly. The meadow areas and wildlife habitats the wardens have created are beautiful. It's an ideal site for touring Derbyshire with lots to see and do within a short drive. Grin Low park is ideal for dog walks. Wont be long before we're back.

Spot On

First visit to this site, couldn't fault it, amenities absolutely spot on, clean and tidy and very friendly hardworking wardens , even the five days of continuous rain couldn't dampen our enthusiasm on one of our newly found "favourite" sites. The dog walks were easy or hard, depending on how you were feeling that day, an absolute gem of a site. The only little niggle was due to the irresponsible dog owners visiting the site that didn't pick up after their pet, both on the site and at the entrance, having said that, this is certainly on our list of revisits.

Fabulous site - just wish there were more of this standard.

First time staying at the Buxton club site. Upon our arrival, I thought perhaps this was a new site until I spoke to the wardens who advised me that the site had undergone an overhaul last year. The standard of this site exceeds any I have stayed on anywhere in the UK. The shower block was like something out of a Marriot hotel. Extremely high quality, powerful showers with no drop in pressure, plentiful supply of hot water. All the roads on site have all been re-surfaced, fencing replaced, high quality entrance and exit barriers and no issue with having hook up and aerial point close by. The Wardens did state that this is the standard the CMC are aiming for as sites come up for an overhaul. It is good to see money being spent on improving sites and I am more than happy to think that over the next few years more an more sites will be renovated to this high standard. Buxton is a lovely town, nice selection of shops, beautiful park and just a really nice place to walk around. I would be more than happy to recommend this place and I will certainly be back again in the future.

A lovely site

Beautiful site in a lovely location Staff very helpful Facilities immaculate Lovely walk downhill into Buxton, but not so good walking back uphill ( quite steep in places) We took the car down and parked in one of the side roads near to the Park then walked down to the Town. Lovely park and Pavillion Drove to Tittlesworth Reservoir thinking we could give the dog a good run but unfortunately dogs have to be kept on a lead ALL the time which was a bit disappointing. The country park next to the site though was ideal with lots of open space for the dog to have a good run Ladybower Reservoir was worth a visit and also south of Haversage we found a carpark with lots of walks. If you cross the road and walk down over the high rocks you come to a very pretty river lovely for picnics

Excellent site and facilities

We had a lovely time at Buxton Grin Low, very friendly staff great scenery, nice walk into Buxton. The only thing that marred the trip was a trio of barking dogs which necessitated us having to move our van to the other end of the site, which of course, is not the fault of the site just inconsiderate dog owners. They won't be there when you go!

Buxton Review

Great site great facilities. Set in a love location with rock faces to one site. Lovely walk though the forest down into Buxton takes about 25 minutes. Great fish and chips on a Saturday night when a chippy van comes. Poor WiFi so don’t waste £3 a day, phone signal also poor on Tesco o2 network. Lovely walks if you have a dog will certainly be back in the coming years.
