A lovely site

Beautiful site in a lovely location Staff very helpful Facilities immaculate Lovely walk downhill into Buxton, but not so good walking back uphill ( quite steep in places) We took the car down and parked in one of the side roads near to the Park then walked down to the Town. Lovely park and Pavillion Drove to Tittlesworth Reservoir thinking we could give the dog a good run but unfortunately dogs have to be kept on a lead ALL the time which was a bit disappointing. The country park next to the site though was ideal with lots of open space for the dog to have a good run Ladybower Reservoir was worth a visit and also south of Haversage we found a carpark with lots of walks. If you cross the road and walk down over the high rocks you come to a very pretty river lovely for picnics

Excellent site and facilities

We had a lovely time at Buxton Grin Low, very friendly staff great scenery, nice walk into Buxton. The only thing that marred the trip was a trio of barking dogs which necessitated us having to move our van to the other end of the site, which of course, is not the fault of the site just inconsiderate dog owners. They won't be there when you go!

Buxton Review

Great site great facilities. Set in a love location with rock faces to one site. Lovely walk though the forest down into Buxton takes about 25 minutes. Great fish and chips on a Saturday night when a chippy van comes. Poor WiFi so don’t waste £3 a day, phone signal also poor on Tesco o2 network. Lovely walks if you have a dog will certainly be back in the coming years.

Great site, shame it’s such a long way down to Buxton

We loved this site especially having a dog as the walks are great. If you want to walk to Buxton, you can thro the woods which is very pleasant but quite steep and once you reach the bottom, to get to the centre of town is still quite a walk. Then getting back is quite tiring! The facilities are very nice. We had a service pitch but unless you’re there for more than 3 days I wouldn’t bother as there are nicer pitches that are standard ones.

Empty pitches

First visit after refurbishment wanted to arrive earlier but site was showing full up so couldn’t. Wish we had rung the site to check. However when we were there it was also showing full but on walking round the site there were 22 empty pitches. So why does the web site show it is full ? This is not the first time we have noticed this when on other sites. I could accept there are some cancellations at the last minute and expect a few empty pitches but not 22. The club is missing a lot of income showing sites are full when they are not. Can anyone explain why this is happening on a regular basis ?.

Excellent site and staff

Excellent site. Good information sheet with good explanations regarding many things which included how to walk via the woods to the town (excellent walking with the dogs), and the pub recommended was fabulous. The refurbish makes it attractive (very much matching the setting/views), is quiet, with nice large plots. The staff were super friendly too. Despite asking other C&MC staff at other sites about my problem with the van TV ariel socket and how to overcome my problem the staff here were knowledgeable. The problem was with the conflicts of 2 ariels and not our van TV socket. Thank you Buxton staff for solving this for me. TV ariel leads also sold in the shop for those who didn't have one. Sometimes I think the pricing is quite high on the C&MC sites for what's on offer, but this one earned every penny.

Peaceful with varied walking opportunities

Stayed on site for 3 nights. Very good quiet site with good level pitches well spaced. Phone and tv signal problematic as the site is hidden in a quarry although there is a tv aerial hook up on the pitch. First class shower and toilet block. Large showers behind door with curtained off changing area with bench and plenty of hooks. Pleasant walk from the site entrance up to the hill to Solomon's temple and from there you can walk down through the woods to the edge of Buxton, although it maybe a pull up the hill on the return. There are walks which can start at the site and head off into the moors.

Excellent site but disappointed about the tree and bush hacking that has taken place

We have been coming here since it first opened and seen the trees and bushes mature. Now they've reburbished it and chopped down a lot of the trees and bushes making it look a bit barren again. These bushes were a haven for birds so it's such a shame. The loo block is lovely and very clean. The bushes made the pitches at the south end very private but now you are seen from everywhere.

Well maintained, quiet site

We spent five days at this site and could not find any faults, lovely spacious pitches, clean facilities and site. Ideally, located for walking into Buxton and other local towns. It was a peaceful site, possibly due to it not having a playground, but that suited our needs.

Excellent refurbished site.

Lovely site. Spacious pitches which are very easy to get on and off! No mud even though it was rather wet when we were there. Lovely walks. Great for dogs. Friendly team. Can't think of a negative apart from may not be so good for children. We only had a short break but hope to return.
