Just came back after ataying there for 9 nights. Newly refurbished, immaculate facilities, the wardens out of this world. One negative to my mind: it is a largs site 118 pitches with only one toilet block near the entrance. Campers at the bottom fields would have a long walk to the toilet or collecting water. Otherwise it is great.
Fabulous site
Visited the site for 5 nights earlier this month (August) and were blown away by the pretty location and cleanliness of the site and facilities.
The staff were super friendly and helpful.
We thoroughly recommend this site. A jewel in the network.
A Return to Buxton
It is over 10 years since we visited Buxton. It was always a very pleasant site set in old quarry above Buxton. At 400 metres, I think the highest site on the network. The only reason we stopped visiting was because we retired and could holiday mid week / off peak. Buxton was and is much easier to get into at weekends than the likes of Chatsworth or Castleton. Since our last visit the site has been refurbished. This included the addition of service pitches, a new larger amenities block and a drive over MH grid. One deletion though was the play area, which is now service pitches.
The site is very well presented by the wardens with many little set pieces that will delight the kids. Biodiversity is also well catered for with bug hotels and small areas left unmown.
Many walks are available direct from the site. Solomons temple provides amazing views over Buxton and the surrounding area and takes about 20 minutes to reach. Buxton itself can be walked into through the woods in about 30 minutes, although the path is fairly steep and has certainly got longer and steeper in an upward direction in the last 10 years.😂 The details of a reasonably priced taxi are provided in case the legs are not willing.
Most freeview channels are available if you connect to the TV port on the EHU bollard. At the top of the site on pitch 6, we were able to make calls on O2 and EE, although 3 / 4G was variable from passable to non existent. Site WiFi was OK for emails and browsing, although the site was nowhere near full.
It certainly won't be another 10 years before we return.
Excellent site
First visit to this site and a very pleasant experience. Set in an old quarry TV signals find it hard to get through, we did get a channel or 2 but it was fine.
Spotlessly clean throughout, and modern facilities.
A £6 cab ride into town, not much each if you share, Lovely countryside around.
Altogether a very nice site in a lovely area, well looked after by the on site wardens.
Lovely setting
We have visited this site a few times but not since the refurbishment. It was ok before but now looks stunning. The wardens should be congratulated for a beautiful, clean and well kept site. Nice big pitches, mostly level and after the refurb have additional fully serviced pitches. The toilet block is a pleasure to use.
We loved the addition of the little nature areas, bug houses and a bug caravan, someone has made a real effort with them.
My only problem was no phone signal ( on 3) unless i went up the hill, but my husband had one so all was not lost.
Lots of areas to explore, Pooles Cavern and the Go Ape for the kids.
A pleasant walk down into Buxton but quite a hard walk back but a local taxi firm have a good rate for a trip back if your legs can't manage it.
The wardens were efficient and very pleasant.
We will gladly return.

Gem of a site
Great site, great location. Ideal for exploring local areas. Hard standing is very hard needing good quality rock pegs. Some pitches require levelling equipment.
One of our favourites
Not our first visit, but first since refurb. It's gone up several notches. Beautiful location, sitting cosily in the old quarry. Facilities are excellent and one really feels spoiled by the general condition of the place. Really well-situated for Buxton and activities in the Peak District. An absolute gem of a site.

Perfection!!!!
First time at the site and wont be the last! Beautiful setting and well protected from wind, the site is immaculate and very well set out, toilet facilities, laundry etc are fantastic and very clean. Plenty of walks around the site but bikes are not allowed so if you wanted to cycle you'd need to head out on the road.Fish and chip van on a Saturday was really good, plenty fish. Lots to do in the area, 40 mins from Alton Towers and Heights of Abrahm at Matlock Bath is a great day out and there is Go Ape, Pooles cavern and Karting all close to the site. The wardens are the best I've ever encountered in my 10 years with the Club and made our stay perfect. We stayed for 14 nights and I still can't fault anything.

Great Site and Wardens. Rude & Poor chip van
The site is great and so are the site staff. One of the best sites we have been on. Very clean. But! The fish and chip van on a Saturday is poor. No Fish so it's a chip van that's it. Want anything else on the menu they don't have it. He was rude to a number of other members and his attitude stinks. Need a new van to come. Avoid the male chauvinist narcissist chip and no fish van.
Beautiful Site
We last stayed at this site 2 years ago & liked it then but after refurbishment, it's excellent. Site is in a beautiful location up above Buxton, next to the Country Park, from where there are fabulous views across the peaks. You can walk into the centre of town in about 30 minutes but it's uphill a lot of the way back. You can get a taxi back at a special price for members if you wish. We had Sunday lunch at The Duke Pub at Burbage, on the way into Buxton by road. Lovely food & good service, recommended. The shower & toilet block is lovely & modern & kept spotlessly clean as on all club sites. We enjoyed our stay & will be back one day.
