Overnight stop

We have been to this site many time previously, as it's close to family. This time was just an overnight stay to break our journey from Cornwall & pick to up our Grandaughter. Excellent site, usual club standards, clean shower block etc... Great helpful wardens.. definitely not our last visit here...

Lovely site

Easy access. The site is lovely and flat, clean shower blocks and the gardens well kept and pitches well spaced out. The shop is very basic. However, beware if you have a serviced pitch as they are not all equal. We picked our pitch as it was an end one thinking it would be ideal as we had a visitor staying overnight and we thought it would be ideal. Unfortunately we had unhitched and levelled before we realised the services were not next to the caravan. We parked exactly where we were told to and our 25 metre electric cable wouldn’t reach! We managed to do it just, by slinging the cable under the van so be warned. The tv cable was 25m away too, the fresh water was closer but again not directly next to the van. Only the grey waste was next to the van. As you are unable to select your pitch before arrival make sure you take extra long cables/pipes with you. There is a good discount for the wildlife park which is next door and within walking distance. It’s mostly very quite but you can occasionally hear the animals from the park and the aircraft going over from RAF Brize Norton but it didn’t bother us. All the staff were very helpful except one who was quite bristly and he tutted when I asked for refund. But in general they were all very pleasant and helpful. I would go back as the surrounding area is beautiful and there is plenty to do.

Relaxing but with plenty to do

As the title said, this site is very relaxing but still has plenty to do in the area. The wardens were all very pleasant, helpful and were working very hard on this busy site. As has been previously mentioned the Cotswold Wildlife Park is literally opposite the entrance to the caravan site and even I (with an arthritic hip) managed to walk around the park and to and from the site, great for the family. There are also many other interesting attractions in the area, Burford is a lovely typical Cotswold town, don’t forget to go off the main roads and look at some of the little villages which are very picturesque and have some superb pubs (with food)! It is also a site to spot the types of aircraft which land and take off from Brize Norton, although only 5 miles away they do not disturb the peace. If you are someone who enjoys aircraft spotting the Fairford International Air Tattoo takes place each July which is very close by. We will return as there are still things we did not see. We found that The Cotswolds Arms in Burford offered a 10% discount on food if you showed your membership card - great food as well!

Be aware of traffic congestion through Burford, it can be fairly heavy coming from the A361 through the town and again when turning into the lane to the site which is also the turning for the wildlife park.

Excellent for families.

Proximity to Cotswolds Wildlife Park in underrated, it is literally on the other side of the road, we could even hear some of the animal noises (very faintly) from our van at night. You can get discounted tickets from the Wardens which are cheaper than buying them online. This site also has a dedicated ball games area and a fab park, our children are 7, 11 and 15 and spent hours in this area during our stay. For them, this will now be the benchmark for other sites! We will definitely be back. :-)

Excellent site

Stayed at this site 18/7/21-23/7/21.Lovely site in a great location, useful for exploring the Cotswolds.the wardens at this site were probably the best we’ve come across, even offered to get us a gas bottle if we ran out after hours,as well as giving us lots of local information.facilities were very clean, and the two dedicated dog walks were a great idea.it’s a quiet, clean well placed site. My only gripe was,if you pitched at the far side of the site,it’s a long walk to the facilities building.another facility building at the far side would serve all the campers at that end of the site.

Excellent

Lovely site, quiet with good dog walk. I don’t usually comment on wardens but these wardens are excellent. Well done.

Members let themselves down

Good site. Good facilities, spoiled by members not cleaning toilets, washbasins and dishwashing areas after use. Staff have enough to contend with at present without having to run after dirty, inconsiderate and ungrateful members. I for one would be offended if I had to sign for a key to use facilities, which were checked after use, which will invariably happen if attitudes don't change.

Enroute to North Yorkshire

We stayed at Burford for 2 nights in early June 2021. The very warm and professional welcome from Warden Manager Anne was lovely. She was very keen to help and to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We later met Martyn husband of Anne whilst he was cutting the grass and generally making sure the site was clean and tidy. He clearly has a passion for doing things right. We have been caravaners for over 44 years with the CAMC and we would rate this site as one of the best on the network. Burford itself is well worth a visit as is many other cotswold villages. We will certainly return.

A great site, ideal for children

We stayed over half term week and enjoyed good weather throughout. It is a busy, well run site by hard working wardens who were coping well with full occupancy. Our grandchildren (7 and 9) made the most of the play area and playing field to the extent that we saw little of them during the light evenings with them engaged in a variety of sporting fixtures on the playing field - one evening saw a very professional seven aside football match of similarly aged children. I won’t add to previous comments about the local area, but those seeing this review may wish to note that there is no need to online pre-book the Wildlife Park the day before. If staying on the site, you can stroll over and pay at the gate - you may be asked to show the Club receipt you were given when first arriving on site; however, we were not asked for it.

Family site

We had a lovely visit to Burford during half term with our caravan. The wardens and helpful and cheerful. We used our own facilities ( just two of us). It is a nice site for Primary age children with a good play area. There is also a dog walking area. The WiFi ( gold) is very variable unlike Black Knowl ( also gold) which was reliable. Phone signal for 3 network was also poor. The Cotswold wildlife park is across the road , Burford is a pretty and pleasant village a couple of miles away up a busy main road. It is not easy to walk from the site. You can cycle but we would only recommend confident experienced cyclist in the surrounding lanes. Not suitable for children. For Motorhomes there isn’t a bus service and unless you have a smaller unit it can be quite difficult to get parked in Burford. (We have previously owned a 7m Motorhome) We shopped in Witney where there is a Waitrose ( no height barrier) and also a Sainsbury’s ( not sure about the access for Motorhomes.) Burford has lots of independent shops and cafes and pubs.
