We stayed at Burford for 2 nights in early June 2021. The very warm and professional welcome from Warden Manager Anne was lovely. She was very keen to help and to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We later met Martyn husband of Anne whilst he was cutting the grass and generally making sure the site was clean and tidy. He clearly has a passion for doing things right. We have been caravaners for over 44 years with the CAMC and we would rate this site as one of the best on the network. Burford itself is well worth a visit as is many other cotswold villages. We will certainly return.
A great site, ideal for children
We stayed over half term week and enjoyed good weather throughout. It is a busy, well run site by hard working wardens who were coping well with full occupancy. Our grandchildren (7 and 9) made the most of the play area and playing field to the extent that we saw little of them during the light evenings with them engaged in a variety of sporting fixtures on the playing field - one evening saw a very professional seven aside football match of similarly aged children. I won’t add to previous comments about the local area, but those seeing this review may wish to note that there is no need to online pre-book the Wildlife Park the day before. If staying on the site, you can stroll over and pay at the gate - you may be asked to show the Club receipt you were given when first arriving on site; however, we were not asked for it.

Family site
We had a lovely visit to Burford during half term with our caravan. The wardens and helpful and cheerful. We used our own facilities ( just two of us). It is a nice site for Primary age children with a good play area. There is also a dog walking area.
The WiFi ( gold) is very variable unlike Black Knowl ( also gold) which was reliable. Phone signal for 3 network was also poor.
The Cotswold wildlife park is across the road , Burford is a pretty and pleasant village a couple of miles away up a busy main road.
It is not easy to walk from the site. You can cycle but we would only recommend confident experienced cyclist in the surrounding lanes. Not suitable for children.
For Motorhomes there isn’t a bus service and unless you have a smaller unit it can be quite difficult to get parked in Burford. (We have previously owned a 7m Motorhome)
We shopped in Witney where there is a Waitrose ( no height barrier) and also a Sainsbury’s ( not sure about the access for Motorhomes.)
Burford has lots of independent shops and cafes and pubs.

Cannot fault the site. Just beware the "Sgt Major"
Another great stay at Burford where we met up with a few friends post lockdown (3). The site was as ever very well maintained and clean and covid compliant. The only thing we noted on this occasion was that one member of staff seemed to be a little on edge most of the time. Sorry I cannot give a name but we heard a lot of people relaying there experiences with the "Sgt Major". For our experience when we checked in my wife was dealt with by a very nice member of female staff however during the process a male member of staff kept interrupting her and asking when she would be finished with the card reader. Seemed a little rude. We were then shouted at whilst leaving the site one afternoon as once we had exited through the site barriers I accelerated to about 7mph (really no faster as the T junction is only 50yrds or so in front of the barriers). We heard a loud shout and saw a man waving and gestating at us. A little bit of over kill considering we had left the sight all was clear and it was literally 7mph (as logged on our dashcam footage) additionally we strictly adhere to the 5mph rule on site (unlike many others).
This said none of the above spoilt our stay and every other member of staff was great. Our friends who stayed at the same time also experienced a less patient individual member of staff who we believe is the same male. Perhaps just a stressful time as the sites reopen.
If you are visiting the Cotswolds we would thoroughly recommend this site and all that surrounds it.
Very helpful wardens Lovely site
Arrived Saturday 22nd of May after a couple of days of very strong winds & rain. Wardens were trying to clear the site of standing water. they did a really great job in difficult circumstances, especially as the bank holiday weekend was coming up, luckily the sun came out for a few days to help out. The site is a lovely location

Great site. Excellent wardens
Arrived on the 12th April and first on site. What a welcome we got from Ann and Martyn, so friendly and helpful. Nothing was to much trouble. Love the stock they had in the shop very convenient especially as I forgot to bring something and Ann had it in the shop. Look forward to returning, even if it’s just to say hello again to Ann and Martyn. Keep up the good work great team, even though we didn’t meet all the wardens on our stay,
Post lockdown getaway.
As soon as Boris announced the date we could stay away from home I booked two nights at this lovely site. The site was just the job but it was the wardens Martin and Anne that made all the difference. Welcoming, helpful and friendly. You could tell that the are passionate about their job and enjoy it.
We found an excellent circular bike ride from the site taking in lunch at Bourton on the Water and skirting Milton under Wychwood. https://osmaps.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/route/8070558/Burford-Caravan-Bourton-on-the-Water-Shipton-Loop
We hope to go back soon - (If Boris will let us ;-) )
Great site
Although we stayed here in October the weather was kind to us. The only downside is the passing traffic on the road which passes the site.
What a great location with many good places to visit. We visited the Cotswold Wildlife Park and were very surprised at how good it was, we'd strongly recommend it. There's lots to see there and I particularly liked the large maps at various intervals so you don't get lost (although I did try to lose the wife but was unsuccessful 😂).
Like others we did visit Burford, Lechlade and Bourton-On-The-Water. The garden centre is worth a visit if the weather is wet. You can spend hours looking round. Lots of nice (and expensive) things. We nicknamed it the Harrods of garden centres.
It'll definitely go on our list of sites we'd go back to.
Friendly Welcoming Site
This was our first ever stay at a caravan and motorhome site. We are complete rookies and had only collected our new motorhome earlier in the day. We are so pleased and grateful that we chose this site as our first destination. After a long and tiring day, we arrived slightly later than planned after the reception had closed. The lady that greeted us couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. It was a flying visit so I can't comment in detail about the site, but from the facilities building and the dog walking area I can say that this is a very well run and maintained site that I can highly recommend. The COVID restrictions look like they have been well thought out and appear to be working well with little inconvenience to the campers. There are two designated dog walking areas with dog bins provided around the site. It was very wet on the night we stayed but the site was quiet, well laid out and we had a very pleasant stay. We left early before the reception area opened but the gate fob system and the exit from the site was simple and worked well. We will definitely be back at some point hopefully when we are more competent and less troublesome guests.
Peaceful stay in the Cortswolds
Our first visit to Burford and we intend to be back. The friendliness of the wardens, from check in to exchanges around the site was exceptional with the extra work and restrictions place upon everybody by the pandemic. We were pleased to find a choice of several hard standing pitches (grass pitches now closed for winter) and even at the weekend the site was not completely full. Felt very health-secure as even the outside water taps were disinfectant wiped several times daily., and 50% of the facilities currently in use within the blocks - still did not have to queue.
We walked across into Cotswolds Wildlife Park (booked the day before on line with discount) and also visited Witney, Lechlade and Burford itself. Wow! Up to 3 hours free parking. Would recommend the rather eccentric Wool Museum in Witney (with good restaurant) and the Cotswolds Weavers Barn in nearby Filkins for far more interest than the many blankets! Access to the site is easy with touch-card barriers and the overall impression is space and greenery. Nice to nod off at twilight to the sound of owls hooting!
