Another First Class Campsite

Our family have visited this site several times and it never fails to live up to it's first class reputation. The staff are always helpful, polite and thoroughly organised. The site itself is always clean, tidy and a showcase of what a first class British site should be like . . . thank you.

Great Half Term break

Returned to this site again and had a great half term break at Brighton. Really helpful wardens printed out our Brighton Pier Amusement Ride Wristbands that we ordered the day before which saved us 25%, plus they told us about the Sealife 50% off Vouchers. Aldi supermarket close to the site, and a very big Asda down near the Marina. Parked the car at the Marina for 4 free hours parking as the wind was really strong and my 8 year old did not fancy the walk from the site. The world's oldest Electric railway, the Volks Railway was open at half term this year - a lovely surprise. Hove Museum was a good little museum to spend an hour at. Cycling along the front is nice and easy with its dedicated cycle lane (although it is a hill on the way back). Whitehawk FC fans were quite noisy on the Saturday afternoon, but it was not for long, and we gathered that they won! Toilets lovely and clean, and the washing up area was excellent. Radio 2 playing was nice to hear when washing up. Enjoyed ourselves again and will certainly visit again.

Great site... pity about the contract gardeners

We always enjoy our stay at the Brighton C&M site, we love the open space and the proximity to the Marina which is just a 10 minute walk to Asda and all the restaurants & cinema, or the promenade for a 45 minute walk into Brighton. We realise that the Autumn is the time for hedge cutting and the annual tidy up... but all we heard all day long all week was the sound of petrol driven garden machinery, what a pity they couldn't have split their time on site to give us holiday makers a day or two break from the noise. Is this something the Caravan & Motorhome Club could address?

Busy site

We stayed here for two nights arriving on a Saturday afternoon. The road to the site was horrendous as there is a sports field on this and people were being dropped off or collected which made the road congested, especially when an ambulance was waiting for the air ambulance to land to collect a patient. Other than this it didnt affect our stay and we will revisit another time. The site is walkable to Brighton Marina or into town if you are able or there is a bus stop opposite Lidl that takes you into town, details are available from the wardens re buses. Our pitch was in a good position and level. Shower block was clean, didnt mind the music playing. The wardens were all very pleasant and helpful and I would have no hesitation of returning to this site.

An excellent break

We arrived in our Motorhome at 5.30 on a Saturday afternoon, weary from a five and a half hour journey and reception staff couldn't have been more welcoming. The site was very busy so they had allocated a pitch but promised we could move on Monday if we disliked it. It was a hard standing pitch in a lovely location so we were happy. We didn't intend to spend much time on site as we were in Brighton until around 8 or 9 pm most evenings. As usual, the toilets and showers were extremely clean and well maintained and the cleaning times of the two blocks differed so that there was always one available. If radio 2 is your thing then the piped music in there is ideal for you! Many pitches are quite sheltered from sea breezes which makes sitting outdoors very pleasant. We were able to watch a variety of rabbits and wild birds going about their daily routines, such a pity some dog owners on site couldn't be bothered to clean up after their animals. The site is in a great location, close to bus stops, supermarkets and takeaway shops. It's a pleasant walk down to the marina with more shops, pubs and a huge Asda. The Hop-on, Hop-off site seeing bus can be caught here. We could hear the surrounding sports fields being used but it wasn't intrusive, but we weren't there on Saturday morning when I assume they would be at their busiest. A great site that we intend to return to!

Disappointed

I agree with all of the other reviewers in relation to the cleanliness. I especially agree with the Whitehawk FC point. They are a very enthusiastic crowd..Very. Disappointed that the grass areas were not being cut. Almost every other cmc site grass is mown as and when a client leaves their pitch. Not so I'm afraid this weekend. This letter site down. Otherwise can't really knock it.

Six day stay September 2017 - great site and location - helpful staff team

This is a great site. Easy to find and good access. Really helpful staff team - in advance sorting out my 6 day booking, helping me sort out the mains electric connection and facilitating my move to a preferred pitch during my stay. Shower and washing up facilities always spotless. Brilliant for dog walking and easy access to Brighton. Can't fault the site and highly recommend. Try and avoid match fixture dates as next to a football ground.

Four Day Weekend Stay

I agree that this is a site set among sport playing and practice pitches so its not, by definition going to be completely peaceful. But that is beyond the control of the Club and the online booking pages warn 'this is a lively site'. Not quite an accurate description. That could be more truthful. My concerns on this site are two fold. These may reflect two negative trends on Club sites - (a) the water in the toilet blocks is not hot enough for a good wash and for a wet shave; (b) what or what is the purpose of spending club income imposing inane 24 hour piped 'pap' music on caravanners? I notice the temperature of water on a number of club sites is only luke warm these days. Why is this? Some have laughable notices saying 'Beware Hot Water'! Hot water is one of the primary reasons I have stayed a Club member for decades but now I'm wondering if its worth it. If the water temp is being turned down to save money its a false economy. If Club costs are rising then the long-overdue answer is the installation of individual electric meters on pitches (increasingly common on Continental sites). That would be environmentally sound and put an end to small caravans subsidising the consumption of the 'bungalows on wheels'. As for the music, who on earth has requested this mind-numbing turn for the worse? Presumably members are paying for the public broadcast rights? Tip - if you are using a Senior Citizen bus pass, you can't do so in Brighton until after 9am. And depending on which authority issued your card, like me, you may not be allowed to use it until after 9.30am!!!

Poor Location for a Quiet Break

We stayed at this site early September for a two week break. What the Caravan Club doesn't tell you is that the site is sandwiched between and surrounded by a sports complex and a football club. We arrived on the Saturday morning and had to endure several hours in the afternoon of Whitehawk FC playing at home. It was like being on the side lines of the match with the drums banging and whistles blowing. For the two weeks we were at the site there were different sports tournaments and matches played continuously and on one evening we were treated to a music concert at the sports complex which went on until past 11.30pm and was loud! The access road to the site is a complete nightmare when there are events on at the lower sports field as coaches and cars clog up the road and make the site almost inaccessible. The signs in the showers should be in several languages as either people cannot read the signs or they are just lazy when it comes to being asked to squeegee the shower after they have used it. Saying that, there were a couple of occasions when the toilets/showers were not cleaned at all by the wardens. We had a super/serviced pitch which we were surprised, being the most expensive pitches on the site, were located opposite the dustbins and every morning when we woke we were surrounded by rubbish which had been emptied from the bins by the foxes and blown around by the wind. This was quickly cleared up by the wardens although on one occasion when I mentioned all the rubbish blown under our caravan was told to leave it as it would just blow into the hedges. If it wasn't for the location, the site would have been pleasant enough although all the other sites we have stayed at have seen the wardens cutting the grass when pitches were vacated but in all the time we were here the grass was only cut once and that was in the play area which again is located right in the middle of the site amongst the most expensive pitches. If I stayed here again, which I wouldn't, I would have a cheaper pitch for a better location. As other people have mentioned, the site was almost full of motorhomes and huge RV's many of whom stayed briefly and which made the site quite busy most of the time. The day before we left the site a huge RV arrived which opened its doors and half a dozen children poured out who just ran amok through the caravans and around the site shouting and screaming and playing havoc in the shower block. We have noticed a decline in the standard of certain sites over the years and especially the way children are being allowed to run around the site the sites and ride their bikes and scooters until all hours and unfortunately the Club does not seem willing to address these issues. Not everybody wants to enjoy other people's children! The Caravan Club is not cheap and so I think in the future we will look to privately owned sites for a more quite and relaxing break.
