Pleasantly surprised

I worried about whether I had taken right decision when I read some of the reviews on this and other sites but needn’t have worried. The staff were very friendly and helpful and able to answer most queries. For a large site it was very peaceful and quiet and the pitches nice and roomy. I selected a,pitch at the top of the site and the only regrets I had with this were the distance to walk. Could do with at least a basic toilet block at the top of the site. It took me most of my stay to find out there was a rubbish disposal point and water nearer to my pitch, after I had walked to the toilets. My only gripe is with the site being in the park it was quite a long walk to the nearest bus stops to be able to go into Brighton or the marina. When added to the distance from my pitch to the entrance it was somewhat a difficult walk as I have slight walking difficulties at the moment. I saw some pitches reserved for disabled but wasn’t sure if you had to have a blue badge for these and as it was already part way through my stay I didn’t wish to uproot myself.

October Visit With an RV

We attended the site with our American RV and were welcomed by the staff without any problems. The Hard Standing Pitches that the Wardens keep for RV's were great with plenty of space & no issues with access or egress. We arrived on a Friday afternoon & although there were some coaches parked on the access road we negotiated them without any issues. We are 2.9m wide & 12m long. It was good to visit a Caravan & Motorhome site without encountering any problems due to us having an RV. Great staff & very helpful.

Beware of possible access problems

In general this site is well run and being close enough to Brighton centre convenient for most holiday purposes. But you may encounter access problems on certain days of the year when organised activities are taking place in the adjoining park and sports fields. We arrived just after 12 noon on a Sunday to find absolute chaos due to a massive cycle race event. Cars, coaches and vans were illegally parked on the narrow access road to the campsite making it almost impossible to get in, with consequent huge traffic jams on surrounding roads. The wardens said they had not been told about the event beforehand. But otherwise the site is fine save for the usual complaints, registered here in other reviews, regarding dogs, Muzak in the toilet blocks and speed. One caravan outfit came by us on the crescent at the top of the site doing at least 35mph. And I did mention to a warden the crazy chemical emptying points where the tap hose was so long it was fouled by the effluent and when you tried to use it to rinse the tank the backflow device prevented it from being possible. I gather this is a problem elsewhere too. Why? How long has the Club been in existence? One final warning....we found that the pitches furthest from the entrance were bothered by flies whereas those down the site were apparently not so unfortunate. Maybe something to do with proximity to the civic dumpit site further up the hill.

Pleasant, and feels small, for a large large site

I like everything about this site, except for one thing… Please remove the piped “music” from the toilet blocks. You may like 60s and 70s pap but after each visit to the facilities I felt like smashing things.

Enjoyble Time

We stayed at this site middle of August, the Warden's were very friendly, hard working and chatty. The site is a credit to them, I think they work very hard to keep it clean and tidy. The only problems we saw were irresponsible people thinking the rules apply to others and not them, think again please!! Dog owners just letting their dogs wander round pitches without a tether and allowing their dogs to toilet on pitches because they are too bone idle to walk them off site. Then there are the clowns who ignore the 5mph speed limit...the limit is in place for a reason....saving a couple of seconds is not worth risking another childs life!! There are only a few simple, easy to follow rules, try considering other people using the sites and stop having a go at the wardens for trying to ensure you have a safe and stress free stay.

Large site that needs some refresh

Overall the site is kept very clean and tidy. However some people seem to use the site as there personal dumping ground. On arrival arrival it was a bit like being back at school with notices and warnings everywhere with words like MUST DO THiS AND DONT DO THAT. But on watching some off the people using the site I can see why (dog fouling being left in the middle of foot ways etc). The wardens work very hard but didn't in the week we were there seem as friendly as other sites we have been to. We were given a service pitch to use which looking at the five in the row was the most uneven, the pitches could also do with being dug up and re laid as the ground was like concrete and I bent several pegs erecting the awning. They have put some fresh dressing down but that is only a cosmetic look. Overall the site is enjoyable and clean enough for everyday use. Brighton unfortunately seems to be overrun with homeless people and a lot of wild camping around the area. We will probably not be returning for a few years

Clean but far

Very clean parc and well behaved and helpful people. There was nothing wrong about the park itself. Some wild parkers and campers in the way up to the park. Tip: a shuttle bus to Brighton pier? It's not so close as you would think..

Noisy

This typifies the definition of a potentially good site spoiled by thoughtless people. The approach road is not very clearly marked, there was a noticeable absence of Club signs to indicate that it is the correct raid to gain access to the site. Surely that should be addressed. My wife and I have been trying to get booked onto this site for a very long time without success. However, we eventually managed to get booked in for 15 nights, end of June and into July. We selected what appeared to be a nice pitch with lots of sunshine. And it was. There was no shade at all during the very hot and sunny days but the pitch was perfectly acceptable. Unfortunately, during our time there we had to endure loud noises from several drunken and foul mouthed Caravan users behind our pitch. We also had incessant barking from several dogs on the site which never appeared to elicit words or acts of admonishment from their owners. Why is it that some dog owners appear to think that everyone else in the world wants to hear their noisy dog yapping on all day? I certainly don’t. The site was OK but the experience was spoiled by thoughtless individuals.

Lovely time

Huge thank you to all the wardens who keep this site fabulous. They cannot be faulted. The sunflowers on the islands was an added bonus this year,Shame some kids who should know better broke one.The site staff have to deal with more and more poor behavior by a minority who think its fine to let their children do what they like.(and leave litter on their pitch) The play park is excellent safe as is the dog park with bins provide for poo and emptied by the wardens. I'm not sure why 5 dogs are allowed and they do not have to pay ???? Children prices and extra cars have to be paid for. Easy access to Brighton,Good buses to Brighton/Hove Seaford/Eastbourne A lovely site and again the wardens keep it spotless its not there fault that the facilities are left in a poor state. Remember leave them as you would like to find them.
