Large site that needs some refresh

Overall the site is kept very clean and tidy. However some people seem to use the site as there personal dumping ground. On arrival arrival it was a bit like being back at school with notices and warnings everywhere with words like MUST DO THiS AND DONT DO THAT. But on watching some off the people using the site I can see why (dog fouling being left in the middle of foot ways etc). The wardens work very hard but didn't in the week we were there seem as friendly as other sites we have been to. We were given a service pitch to use which looking at the five in the row was the most uneven, the pitches could also do with being dug up and re laid as the ground was like concrete and I bent several pegs erecting the awning. They have put some fresh dressing down but that is only a cosmetic look. Overall the site is enjoyable and clean enough for everyday use. Brighton unfortunately seems to be overrun with homeless people and a lot of wild camping around the area. We will probably not be returning for a few years

Clean but far

Very clean parc and well behaved and helpful people. There was nothing wrong about the park itself. Some wild parkers and campers in the way up to the park. Tip: a shuttle bus to Brighton pier? It's not so close as you would think..

Noisy

This typifies the definition of a potentially good site spoiled by thoughtless people. The approach road is not very clearly marked, there was a noticeable absence of Club signs to indicate that it is the correct raid to gain access to the site. Surely that should be addressed. My wife and I have been trying to get booked onto this site for a very long time without success. However, we eventually managed to get booked in for 15 nights, end of June and into July. We selected what appeared to be a nice pitch with lots of sunshine. And it was. There was no shade at all during the very hot and sunny days but the pitch was perfectly acceptable. Unfortunately, during our time there we had to endure loud noises from several drunken and foul mouthed Caravan users behind our pitch. We also had incessant barking from several dogs on the site which never appeared to elicit words or acts of admonishment from their owners. Why is it that some dog owners appear to think that everyone else in the world wants to hear their noisy dog yapping on all day? I certainly don’t. The site was OK but the experience was spoiled by thoughtless individuals.

Lovely time

Huge thank you to all the wardens who keep this site fabulous. They cannot be faulted. The sunflowers on the islands was an added bonus this year,Shame some kids who should know better broke one.The site staff have to deal with more and more poor behavior by a minority who think its fine to let their children do what they like.(and leave litter on their pitch) The play park is excellent safe as is the dog park with bins provide for poo and emptied by the wardens. I'm not sure why 5 dogs are allowed and they do not have to pay ???? Children prices and extra cars have to be paid for. Easy access to Brighton,Good buses to Brighton/Hove Seaford/Eastbourne A lovely site and again the wardens keep it spotless its not there fault that the facilities are left in a poor state. Remember leave them as you would like to find them.

The site is excellent, drawbacks are not the fault of the site or the Club

I'll start with the down-sides. Brighton is a magnet for dossers, ne'er-do-wells, all manner of riff-raff, and the area the site is in seems to attract them in droves. Despite the Club and the Council having partially sorted out the parking issues in the approach lane, there are still numerous campervans, converted ambulances and the like who either buck the rules or work the system to be able to "wild camp" along the lane. There are also tent campers and rough sleepers who sleep in the bushes, on the grass etc, many of whom blatantly take advantage of the fact that the site shower blocks are not locked. The site itself accepts tent campers and non-members and so attracts a wide variety of unconventional people and similarly unconventional outfits, to put it mildly! I felt sorry for the site staff having to deal with some of the unpleasant sites that were left behind in some of the toilets, in some cases rendering them unusable until they had been cleared/cleaned or whatever. On the plus side, the staff do a blinding job keeping the site in tip-top condition, whilst maintaining courtesy and good humour. The site is well located for getting to Brighton, as well as the Marina where there are numerous cafes, restaurants etc. Particularly worth a mention is the Cherry Tree which is family and dog friendly. One final grumble - if I book an awning pitch, I would expect to be able to erect an awning without having to use a Kango to get the pegs in!!

Extended Stay

Just arrived back from what we can only describe as a great and family friendly site, arrived to find a great reception from wardens even tho extremely busy had time for all arrivals. We finally picked pitch 136 even tho it backs onto play area we had no late night noise issues all kids v well behaved, pitch nice and level and also one the biggest we've stayed on again a credit to the club for not being space greedy. The site also has a chippy and pizza van that comes onto site if your feeling lazy, the 2 shower blocks are immaculate, when one is closed the other is open even if you are at the top of the site the walk would be no more than a couple of minutes to the furthest block, The hard standings are a bit tough but with a 5lb lump hammer and rock pegs the awning was secure. ( recommended ) The access road can be tight if there are parked vehicles on the pay and display or if you meet a vehicle leaving site on the final bend but with sense 2 vehicles can easily pass. Brighton and the Marina are fantastic places to visit, the Marina has much to see inc Pubs and Restaurants it has a real cosmopolitan feeling if you get the weather, Brighton itself has something to offer everyone whatever your age. Prices in the Marina and the Town are a bit pricey but worth it in our opinion. Walk to local Asda about 15 mins if you can't be bothered to walk back Taxi cost between 5 and 6 pounds back to site money well spent in 30 degree heat. Overall a fantastic time for our stay, helped by the great weather but also the hard working and friendly staff. This is why we extended our stay with help from site staff. Will definitely return. Thanks again to the club. PS if it had a pool in this weather what a bonus.

Really good site

Stayed mid July very pleased with everything. It’s nice to visit a site and not have to drive. Easy walk into Brighton and Asda really local. Would recommend time and time again.

How do you take 2 1/2 hours to clean toilet block?

Really, the upper toilet block is nothing special, yet it is closed for cleaning from 14.00 until 16.30. That means that if you are at the upper end of the site you have a very long walk to the toilet all afternoon - possibly when you've just arrived with kids or elderly people. The other toilet block is only closed for 1 1/2 hours, but when we arrived it was still not open 20 minutes after it was due to be. So there would be no excuse for their not being clean, would there? The access road (not the Club's responsibility) has improved since parking restrictions were introduced, but it has developed some alarming potholes that would rip your suspension out. Someone had put some gravel in the worst of them near the cafe, but the nearside edge of the road towards the exit is still very bad. The wi-fi was very slow and intermittent.

Great site

Stayed here for two nights on way back from France. Only 30mins from Newhaven port. Site is large and quite spacious. Stayed one night on a standard pitch which was fine but sloping and second night on a serviced pitch due to availability at time of booking. Service pitches situated in noisy location due to passing traffic and motorhome waste point. Drive over grate covers clang every time a vehicle drives over them which this needs addressing. Fine for one night but wouldn’t stay any longer as drove us crazy. Advised site staff who were good & friendly and they were already aware of this. Other than that this is a great site location wise and handy for supermarkets and bus stop into centre. One thing noticeable was the speed some members drive at between the speed ramps. PLEASE SLOW DOWN YOU’RE ON HOLIDAY, NOT MONDAY MORNING RUSH HOUR!
