Great site. Nice and open with large pitches and lovely views of the mountains from most. Two excellent warm toilet blocks which were very clean. Helpful friendly team of wardens and an excellent large shop. First I have seen on a club site. If calling in for a couple of days you could buy everything you needed and not leave the site.
Good location for exploring the Brecons. Only downside is that there is some traffic noise but you are warned of this. Wouldn't put me off returning which I hope to do as two nights wasn't enough.
A very well laid out site with large pitches and excellent facilities which are kept in spotless condition. Lovely staff on site who are courteous, helpful and a mine of useful information. There is a well stocked shop on site with all those essentials. The local pub is within walking distance via the dog walk - lovely ales, very good food and lovely staff (book in advance as the pub was busy when we called at 6.30pm)
There were wonderful views, from our caravan, of the Brecon Beacons (mountains) which were lightly dusted with snow. There are lots of interesting places to visit within a half an hour drive: Hay on Wye a great place to wander around. Lots of wildlife with buzzards and red kites hovering overhead. The first morning on site we rose to find a large ball made up of twigs and moss in our tow hitch cover: this was removed and was thought to have built up during winter storage of our van. The following morning a large ball of twigs had once again appeared inside the cover and as I looked inside a robin appeared with a mouth full of twigs: wonderful and I have the photos to prove it.
Night skies are incredible as light pollution is low: the walk back from the pub in almost pitch darkness (take a torch) was a pleasure as we tried to identify some of the major constellations. We had a pitch alongside our friend's caravan ' and they have a dog (Brinkley) - importantly the site is very doggy friendly (as is the pub)
As part of a visit to Wales we spent a few days here in March. What a lovely site and well within a gentle stroll of Brecon along the canal. The facilities are immaculate and very clean. The dog walk is lovely and there is a good pub not far away.
We stayed on this site last weekend for the first time and we plan to stay there many more times. So clean & frendly . We tried to book for Easter weekend but unfortunately it's fully booked , but there will be other weekends
Why oh why isn't this site open?
This review is based, unfortunately, upon not being able to stay! The facilities are quite obviously excellent, as evidenced by members high ratings generally BUT we are in total agreement with many other members regarding the winter closing.
Such an opportunity missed by the C.C. Heated facilities, site is almost in the town and all other sites in the area are closed. I wonder if there is any intention to amend the opening times to meet the desires of members? Do we know if those that are paid to run our club for us actually read and take notice of these comments?
Only recently discovered this gem of a site but have visited several times since. Wardens are always helpful and friendly, pitches spacious and well positioned. Both toilet blocks immaculately clean and warm and well equipped. Perfect!
I realise that the wardens need a break but it's a pity that the site closes from the end of October to March. The Brecon Beacons can be beautiful in winter and the site seems ideally equipped to cope with wintery weather with its hard standings and heated toilet blocks. In fact, it would be fairly easy to have only one half of the site open, and only one block in use.
Looking forward to returning in spring!
Lovely site our regular haunt we agree with all already said but I would like to highlight the fact that the site is shut for months in the winter. The club must be on a loser with this also really sorry to see our wardens are all away at end of season if there are any others of a better quality than Billie and Sean and their team then I have not yet met them. Our loss is anothers gain..
A newly refurbished site with hard standings and fully serviced pitches. The site has a great location surely both the town and caravan club need the income generated from such a popular site.
Why then is it now closed for months?
My wife and I have just returned from our final visit of the season at the Brecon beacons Club Site. We are regular visitors at the site periodically throughout the season.
We think it is the best site in the Caravan Club network.
It is a credit to the club that the standards are maintained up to its closure in October. All the wardens were engaged in the maintenance of the high standards right to end. They deserve high praise for their commitment and hard work.
We are looking forward to our return next year. I believe that the wardens are changing for the forthcoming season. They will have a lot to live up to.
