What a fabulous site!

We were looking for a few nights away, not too far from home when we came across this little gem! Nice large pitches, more grass ones than hard standings.. The whole site is immaculate, having been carefully tended by the two wardens! The site was originally Notgrove Station on the Banbury to Cheltenham GWR line! In the information office there are many photos and press reports about the station, which closed in 1962. This was a real bonus for me as I am very much into railways. If you believe in ghosts, both my wife and myself were woken one night at the same time by the sound of a train passing through the site. The nearest real station and railway line is miles and miles away! A fabulous site and wardens! We will be back!

What a charming little site!

This was our first time here over the Easter weekend. What a delight! Peaceful, quiet, and plenty of nearby walks. We took our bikes along the country lanes to Bourton-on-the-Water and The Slaughters. The beautiful Cotswolds..... we will be back !!

Perfect Wardens

I've been here before about 15 years ago and always planned to revisit. I wasnt disappointed, this is a charming, peaceful site, with great views over the rolling countryside. You do need a car or to be a very determined cyclist or walker if you plan to go visiting as the local attractions are not close. But what made this site special enough to warrant my first review in many years was the superb wardens. All CMC wardens are superb but the wardens here were absolutely lovely when dealing with my problem. You see, I'd accidentally mixed up my dates so arrived a day late on Good Friday as a no show from the previous day, I felt very foolish as you can imagine and feared of having completely messed up on the busiest weekend of the year. But the wardens simply smiled, took me in the office to show me what I'd done privately, then calmly amended my booking, found me a space, directed me straight to it and even delivered the gate key to me, having fetched it from the previous occupant who had moved. All within ten minutes of arrival. They were unbelievable pleasant and helpful. During the 3 days that I stayed I noticed that they were like this with everyone they met. I'm sorry, I didn't ask their names but I will always remember them as Mr and Mrs Perfect Warden.

Super little site

Just spent a very enjoyable weekend at Bourton-on-the-Water. As others have said it is not very close to Bourton-on-the-Water and a car is needed. We visited the NT Roman villa and walked into Salperton. The site is kept clean and tidy and we will return.

Excellent site

We have stayed here on numerous occasions over the last three years. It is a very quite site ideal for a weekend away from the hustle of life. There are wonderful walks around the old railway line (the site is built on the former Notgrove railway station.) As reviewers have previously mentioned it is approx six miles from Bourton on the Water. There are no toilet/shower blocks, but as most caravans have these facilities anyway that does not matter. The site is well maintained and is always very clean and tidy. We look forward to returning next spring, hopefully the new wardens will be as good as Kate and Bob

Quiet Location

Reading the reviews can caravaners be aware if booking the site, , theres are no toilet blocks, no showers, no childrens playground and it is NOT next to a large village/town so dont expect it and if you do use it, subsequently give it a poor review. Its a quiet site. Because of the facilities you find it is mainly adults using the site. There is a mixture of grass and hard standing and they are often large pitches. Yes it is around 5 miles away from Boughton with its new large Co-op. If you want peace and quiet, a secure site, lower costs then this is for you. Yes you could say its the same as a CL except perhaps this has better access/maintenance/security. If you want showers, toilets, playground, next to an Aldi store seek somewhere else. If you apply these considerations this is a site for you and perosnally I would be happy to go back to. My next visit will be my third. If they change this site to include all these facilities it would be fully booked. So for me lets have more like this MH&CC.

Quiet & Peaceful and one of the nicest, most helpful wardens we've met.

We had stayed at this site previously when it was still known as Notgrove. Recently revisited the site in our newly acquired van as a sort of "shake down" outing. On arrival the we had a warm welcome from the wardens who explained there was no shower block/toilets on site (which we knew from a previous visit). We initially had some issues with the power on our van but the warden sorted us out quickly and then took the trouble at little later in the evening to check we had settled in ok and there were no more problems (these were down to user error). The site is a few miles out of Bourton on the Water and although there are some walks that can be done from the site it is wise to avoid walking along the main road as it is a fast, busy road. There is some very good walking from Bourton up to Upper and Lower Slaughter which are well worth visiting. Bourton itself is also well worth a visit but it is usually fairly crowded at most times in the village centre due to the number of tourists. Broadway, Stow on the Wold and Cheltenham are within reasonable driving distance but as mentioned by others, you do need transport. Nearest shops, pubs and restaurants are in Bourton. The site is clean and well maintained with a mixture of grass and hardstanding pitches. The pitches are also reasonably sized. We had no problems with tv reception plugged into the ehu bollard.

Disappointing

Stayed here for one night as unable to increase our stay at Broadway as it was fully booked. We fail to understand how the site could be classified as Bourton on the Water as it is almost six miles into the countryside from Bourton on the Water. We have a motorhome and unless you are prepared to move the motorhome off the pitch and try to park it in the town, then this site is not ideal for you. It was certainly quiet but the road seemed to be used as a rat run and was not safe to walk along. The dog walk was unsuitable in our opinion and the worst we have come across. It was a steep, stony path that led to a ploughed field in each direction which we were not sure we should walk on and dogs could not be let off the lead. There are no facilities at this site. We would only stay here again if we were desperate.

Excellent base but prepared to use your car.

We have stayed at a number of sites in the Cotswolds, this site is really nice, very quiet but has no facilities, so be prepared to use your own!!! The wardens did mention this on our arrival, they also came to see us after we picked a pitch to ask if everything was ok, which we thought was a really nice touch. The site is around 5 miles from Bourton so be prepared to use your car, the road outside the site is a very busy fast road with no paths so it isn't safe or possible to walk along it! Upper & Lower Slaughter are well worth a visit and you can easily walk from one to the other across a number of pleasant fields. The dog walk is adjacent to the site, fenced off and also provides poo bags, again a nice touch! For a complete chilax this is the site for you, however if you like to be near shops, pubs and other amenities then this may not be the best site in the Cotswolds to choose, there is also nothing for children here so if your kids like a play area this again may not be the site to go for. We didn't have any issue with our TV, we were plugged into the booster on the bollard, we can't comment on the WIFI as we didn't use it.

More like a CL site

I was disappointed with this site. I can’t fault the wardens who were lovely, I just think there’s nothing to this site. It felt like a large cl site and consequently I felt it was very overpriced considering there’s no toilets or playground. I’ve paid less than £10 a night for better sites than this. I also think it’s in the middle of no where, it’s about 5 miles from Bourton on the water. Personally I would not return, my kids were v bored. Tv didn’t work even plugging aerial into bollard Arial. Not a site for families.
