We were fascinated to learn that the site is in an old railway cutting and from our pitch, we could peer through the hedge and see the old bridge (sans deck). The site is about 4 miles from Bourton and is pure countryside, barely noticed anything passing on the road. The wardens were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the site is exceptionally well maintained. We loved our pitch - it was very roomy, on tarmac and easy to access. The site is small and our first time with no block which was no problem and cheaper. The air is so clean here that the stars do not twinkle. The shop at reception has an amazing range of goodies even though it's tiny and we enjoyed ice cream and cake from their stock. There is easy access to attractions and Bourton has many but choose your time - we went in for 9am on Friday of Bank Holiday weekend and it did not start to get busy until lunchtime but we drove through on Bank Holiday Sunday and it looked like Bournemouth Beach. Brilliant bakery, fish and chip shop, Motor Museum and another fabulous day out is the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Heritage Railway at Toddington not far away. Choo Choo! Go to Morton In Marsh on Tuesday for a brilliant outdoor market.
We really enjoyed our stay here! The site is great, very peaceful - so if you are looking for entertainment, choose something else. Pitches are good size, grass is mowed regularly. Of course, there is no shower/toilet block - but we knew that and did not bother us. You can go for walks (dog walk is good), Bourton on the Water is close by and really pretty but verrrrry busy due to nice weather.
We did not have much contact with the wardens (only at check in when she was very helpful).
This was our first motorhome experience and we’d booked in for 2 nights. This is a beautiful site very well maintained and quiet whilst we were there. We had a problem with our gas and the owners couldn’t have been more helpful trying to resolve our dilemma . As novices just to know we had some backup was very reassuring. Site entrance is off a fast country road so extra care needed when exiting. We have no hesitation in recommending this site and will return in the future to admire and enjoy the beautiful Cotswolds.
Exceptionally friendly and helpful couple managing the site which is odd in that there are no toilet/washing facilities although that was not an issue for us.
Quite a distance from Bourton on the water so you will need to drive or catch the bus. Lower rating only based on absence of facilities others may want.
This was our first stay at a club site ans we were more than impressed. The couple who run this site were friendly and helpful, as were other members on site. We will return in the future as there is still so much walking and cycling to be done in the area, although we will need to build up our leg muscles for cycling up those steep country lanes.
My husband and I stayed here for 7 nights this month and had the best time. The team here were very friendly and helpful. Everybody was adhering to social distancing rules for COVID. The site was very well kept and the pitches were nicely spaced. It is such a peaceful site. There were no facilities but this did not matter to us as we used our own facilities in the caravan. The site is located in a beautiful area, the cotswolds. Stunning villages nearby and lovely places to walk. We visited the local Motor Museum, Bird Sanctuary and Dragonfly Maze as well as some lovely restaurants and we also had nice picnics by the water. The only downfall is that it is situated on a road where cars travel at speed often overtaking but we found it ok.
We cannot wait to return as we would definitely stay there again.
Booked for a week In September and ended up staying for 2 . Lovely peaceful site in a fantastic central location for sightseeing in the cotswolds and beyond.well maintained and friendly helpful wardens at the helm, perfect.
Nice walk from site to Salperton estate and the lovely little All Saints church.
The only minor negative as an experienced cyclist is the main road off the site, very fast, hidden dips and bends meant i only risked 2 rides, didnt feel safe at all, just a point of note for any cycling fans coming here
Blessed with amazing weather the majority of our time here, will certainly return at some point.
We spent six days at the site. The team at the site were very welcoming and maintained the site in pristine condition. The Wifi hot spot at times didn't work! It is a splendid location for touring from. Great picturesque walks available from the site, without venturing to the main road.Wonderful large scale plasticised maps available from the reception. Personally I would not wish to cycle on the main road to or from the site. The speed and noise of passing traffic is beyond the pale and extreme caution has to be exercised by all road users to and from the site. The hale and ride bus service, although with limited times works well. However, the verge on the opposite side of the main road for passengers intending to catch the bus to Bourton on the Water, needs an area of hard standing to keep people safe. Overall we very much enjoyed being able to stay at this site.
A very peaceful small site a short distance away from the busy village of Bourton on the Water.
No toilet block or showers, which was of no consequence as we use our own. Lovely Dog walk from site which could lead further to a bridle track and a wander by spacious country fields. Took our big motorhome off site to drive to Bourton (5 miles away) but not a problem at all as there are special motorhome bays in the village car park. Felt safe leaving ‘her’ there for the day. Lots to see in pretty Bourton but it was heaving, perhaps a better time for us would be out of school holidays. As has been said, the wardens at this site are exceptional and go out of their way to be helpful, clearly explaining the covid changes, and keeping everything tidy and clean.
