Bolton Abbey Estate Club Campsite

We arrived mid week and were unable to find a pitch in a nice sunny position. Most of the best pitches for sun on the top tier were blue pegs. We had booked for an awning pitch, white peg.
In general it seems the pitches are too close together and not as spacious as usual for Caravan club.
We didn't visit the abbey due to a charge of £8 a day to park near the abbey and the site is about 3 miles from the abbey. With the warning about the narrow archway I wrongly assumed that the site is on or close to the abbey.
amazing location
Fabulous location lots of walks direct from the site. No TV reception without the purchase of a coax cable from this site office. Managers very offhand, unwelcoming and unhelpful. Pitches very close together. Standards of cleanliness excellent which you would expect.
Will probably return due to the excellent location.
Smashing site
Smashing site in a great location, however with a few reservations.
Poor TV reception
No mobile phone signal.
No Wi Go
No children's play area.
Not enough space between sites.
However as I said, in a great location, wardens good, the toilet block is as you would expect from a club site.
We will return again due to its great location.
The verdict is out
Just come back from the bank holiday break which was unfortunately a bit wet with rain from Saturday dinner until Sunday dinner. The site stood up to the weather well with just a few puddles here and there.
The shower block was nice and warm and the hot water never ending, which was great. A lot of the pitches had been repaired on the edges with grass seed, where car tyres had run over them. Unfortunately I ran over the edge with my car where it had been freshly seeded. The warden was not pleased and made a rather grumpy and sarcastic comment (you've made a good job of that)
to which I apologised. Being as there was quite a few pitches like this, it is quite obvious the pitches are not wide enough between the white peg and the edge of the pitch. Instead of grass seeding all the areas where the cars have run over the grass, maybe he should have been instructed to widen the pitch with gravel.
As a Construction Site Manager, I would have done this as a matter of common sense. Apart form the sarcastic comment from this warden, we enjoyed our stay. Will we be back? The verdict is out.

Excellent site
This is an extremely well managed and cared for site. We hit the weather just right. Great walks and wildlife sightings. Plenty to see and do nearby. Hopefully the first of many visits.

Beautiful location
Beautiful location, great wardens and very well kept site. Spoiled for me by way too many dogs on site! On the 4 pitches opposite, and 2 neighbouring pitches to mine there were 19 dogs! A bit like pitching in a boarding kennels! Also noisy children on scooters at weekends if you're pitched on the bottom row.. the slope is just too tempting. Well worth a visit, and deservedly popular, but don't expect peace and quiet all the time!
Tranquil site in April
A lovely site with a nearby cafe (a bit expensive but worth it for a teatime treat) and a network of footpaths suitable for all. Facilities very good and in dog walking area we had a close encounter with a roe deer - dog & deer not phased but we were.
Beware of the estate car parks-the parking charges are hefty.
Easter 2015
