5 day break at Bolton Abbey

excellent site for walking every thing very neat and tidy, can recommend Cavendish Pavilion for meals. Only fault are the arrival time (after 1 pm) and the departure time (before 11 am) some pitches a bit small..

A Gem of a Site

This was our first visit to this club site but won't be our last. We were made very welcome by the staff, who were also very helpful with local knowledge as well.  As we enjoy walking, this site with access to miles of nature trails on the estate was a real bonus. The only downside on the site being the lack of a signal for our mobiles.

Cracking site

This was our first visit to this site. Wardens were excellent, let me on early which was a real bonus as we're used to a 12 noon arrival time. We couldn't fault the facilities on offer. Hats off to the wardens. The only down side is that everything is really a car journey away but apart from that, 1st class. A lovely part of the country with excellent views and well worth a visit. We would heartily recommend turning right from the site entrance and following the road through Burnsall to The Craven Arms in Appletreewick. Take a nominated driver as some of the beers they offer are excellent.. We'll be back.

Recent stay at Bolton Abbey

A delightful site, peaceful and wardens helpful and friendly. Our first visit to this area and there was so much to do exploring, walking, and visiting places of interest. We will be back another year. Quite pleasant to get away from the phones but could be inconvenient at times. Only problem and we have found this on all sites, can the club please stop teenagers riding bikes at speed through the sites. Small children are not a problem. The Waterers

Lovely site

Spent 3 nights here mid July. Site is well kept and facilities clean. Wardens were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Great local walks directly from the site. Nearby Skipton (8 miles) is a real market town and well worth a visit. Will definately return.

Excellent site in a great location with very friendly staff

This is an excellent site if you like walking,  visiting historical monuments and above all,  wish for a very tranquil time.  There are fantastic walks along the river from 2miles long,  it is superb for dogs and walks that tire children out for bed.  The staff are very accommodating,  especially for late check out,  if it's free they allow it.   The facilities were spotless and the pitches are all hard standing.  I would definitely put this on  your list.

Fabulous site.

This is a fabulous site. One warning for dog owners, they spray Weedol on the weeds under the dividing hedges and round the bottom of trees without warning to dog owners, so be warned.

Lovely site

a really pretty site in a lovely area.  when we arrived we were told there were plenty of white pitches to choose,  there were not, but lots of blue pitches.  we asked a warden if we could change to a blue pitch as we would not be erecting an awning.  He was quite abrupt, and not at all friendly, and we were told it would mess up the bookings.  Apart from that  such lovely walks along the river to Bolton Abbey with a super tearoom on the way.  Had a lovely mini tour around the abbey, then walked back along the other side of the river, so pretty. Lovely dog walks but it states dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, which was a bit awkward.  Our dog is used to running off lead, so we did let him off along the river but were very cautious so was a slight problem. Site is not very well signed, we thought we had missed it, which is awkward with a large motorhome, but luckily we hadnt gone far enough, it is a couple of miles after the archway.would definately return, hope the warden is a little friendier next time.

Beautiful Bolton Abbey

What a beautiful site. We found the wardens welcoming and helpful, the facilities as clean as you would expect from the CC and the wildlife (ducks, pheasant and squirrels) very friendly too, if a little cheeky. If you haven't been towing for long, reading the reviews you may be a little worried about the driving through the archway but a slow approach and you will be fine. Great easy walk from the site, along the river to the Abbey itself. I look forward to persuading my husband that we need to walk more of the Pennines in that area for a return trip.

Peaceful with lots of walks

Very peaceful site (except for the rally car night across the road). The Strid Wood tea room is directly outside the site. Beautiful walks direct from site to Bolton Abbey via the Pavilion (for tea) or along to Barden Tower (famous painting by Turner). Wardens were ok but the reception was often closed when it should have been open & the wardens left the site at 2pm with a sign in the door saying not available until 9.30am next day with phone 999 in emergency. I suspect they could do with more than one set of wardens on site. Too many blue peg pitches which were in most cases the same size and white peg pitches. We watched ducks, pheasants & wood peckers right outside our caravan. Beware when eating out - The Devonshire Hotel (affordable) is in the same building as The Devonshire Brasserie (£58.50 for a Shepherds Pie!).  A day out in Skipton is a must. Beware when leaving Bolton Abbey Village as you have to drive through a very narrow archway.  The site is a good couple of miles further on from the Memorial Fountain (we started to worry we had missed the turning). TV reception is analogue via the bollard only and there is absolutely no mobile phone signal but you can get WiFi via the Caravan Club package. We will definitely return.
