We have stayed at Strid Wood many times and have never been disappointed. No matter what season you go there the countryside is constantly changing in a breathtaking way. We love walking in the area and the 'Craven Arms Pub'. (Gateway to the ales!)
After a long walk it is always nice to snuggle down with a book, paper or watch the TV. Sadly due to lack of maintenance 3 of the 4 tv aerial sockets were broken in the nearest outlet to our pitch. Come on caravan club what happened to the regular maintenance checks. It doesn't cost that much to replace an aerial socket!
Best Christmas !!
Lovely site, great for walking every day. Really enjoyed our quiet Christmas and New Year break - no noisy fireworks to make my dog bark for 30 minutes at midnight was worth every penny spent !!
New wardens doing good job - site very clean and tidy.
lovely stay!
This was our first 'winter caravanning holiday' and we loved it! Bit scary to tow the caravan through the snow over the hills, but arrived at the site all snow was gone so no issues there. We were surprised by the amount of power we could use as it was cold (minus 4) and we could keep it nice and snug while watching the tele. which is by the way analog - cables were for sale at the reception. No phone signal but the wifi worked ok (not all the time but hey you are on holiday). Location is great for walking - you can follow the river all the way to bolton abbey, approx 30 mins to 45 mins (we have kids). Site is lovely, with pitches on different levels so enough green around you. You really have the feeling to be in the outdoors (not in rows on a field). We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go camping between xmas and new year next year!
Winter wonderland
The end of December 2014 was very cold (minus 4 degrees centigrade) here at the Strid.
The site was very good and the staff very helpful.
The surrounding area is super for walking.
