Second time lucky

This was our second attempt to get out this year, having had to cancel a trip to Castleton  due to the snow a few weeks ago, we had a great welcome here, this always sets you up for a nice experience, we stayed Thursday 5th - Sunday 8th March and every thing was perfect, even the weather.

Early season visit

Our first visit to this site on its first week of the season. Wardens were really helpful and the site and facilities were in first class condition. We were there mid week when the site was very quiet and through the weekend when it was full yet it kept a spacious feeling. An excellent location for walking. We were on one of the terrace levels but noticed that the lower pitches next to the A53 did suffer from traffic noise which started at 6am with quarry wagons etc. The site also had a resident blackbird which was determined to attack its reflection in all the ajoining car wing mirrors leaving a right droppings mess!

Our first outing of the year!!!!

Well, we could not have chosen better for our first outing. A very warm welcome from the lovely wardens and the fabulous `chester`, the resident dog, (gorgeous, especially when you see him travelling round on the tractor with `dad`!! ). We arrived on Wednesday and got the pick of the pitches as it was so early in the season, however, don`t be fooled, by Friday the site was filling up and Saturday full !! the amenities on site are good and the toilet blocks/showers immaculate. the site itself is so handy for visiting local attractions. we were disappointed that the local steam railway was not yet open as we planned to take our dog with us for the day out, however we had a fabulous few hours at Tittesworth reservoir, definitely worth the short trip. all in all we had a fabulous 4 days away and would thoroughly recommend this site. Beautifully kept and I would love to go back when the weather gets warmer. Thank you and well done, see you soon `Chester` !!!

winter wonderland

considering heavy snow and ice which delayed our arrival by a day, we were welcomed warmly.  Plenty of choice pitches with spectacular views.  Facilities were maintained to a very high standard despite awful conditions -  well done wardens.

New year

Our 2nd year spending new year at Blackshaw  moor. We were so impressed last year that we didn't hesitate with booking again for this year. However the weather had other ideas, but thanks to the warden (Trevor) who telephoned us early on the morning we were due to arrive to say that the site was under 4 inches of snow and recommended we left it 24 hrs before we made a decision on whether to make the journey. We did take his advice and arrived the next day all the roads to the site we're clear and the site although still under a lot of snow and ice we had the most fantastic break in the most spectacular snowy scenery. The only down side was to have been told the site will not be open next New Year ....very disappointed

Many thanks Caravan Club

We used this site over New Year as a result of our first choice site being closed at short notice due to electrical problems. The Caravan Club staff couldn't do enough to help us make alternative arrangements. The wardens on the site were very welcoming and the site is well run and the facilities are very clean. We had a relaxing stay with long walks in the local area. We will certainly return and hope to explore further. Many thanks.

Picture postcard stay

Our first Christmas stay at Blackshaw Moor,we visit often during a year as we have family close by. We arrived Boxing Day to a warm welcome from the wardens. Shortly after our arrival the snow came which was very unexpected ,during the snow  fall the electric went off but was assured by the warden it would soon be restored. As morning fell the snow was 6ins deep, this did not deter the wardens help was at hand.As always we can recommend this site come rain or shine .Thank you for making our winter stay one to remember.

Great Site, lovely people

Just come back from a short stay at this lovely site, was initially concerned site wouldn't be open due to recent snow fall but was assured all was open after a quick telephone call. Had a lovely welcome after a long trip with mince pies and chocolates. Staff very friendly, toilets/showers very clean. Will certainly visit again.
